Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 544: Chapter 113: Being merciful to the enemy is being cruel to oneself_2

Wen Yu was taken aback. What he said... It really does make sense...

After observing for a while, Wen Yu turned to Ray and said, ”Go find the commander of the Eastern City Wall and tell them to cease artillery fire in this area.”

As he finished speaking, a tender green sprout slowly began to appear on his right hand.

Watching the tiny, swaying form of the Almighty Demon Vine, Ray couldn’t help but wear a strange expression. The military naturally knew that Sequence Number 2 possessed a limit-breaking item—the attributes of the Almighty Demon Vine had been completely exposed during the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle. Even though Ray already knew Wen Yu’s plan, his heart still stirred slightly at this moment... The Limit Breaking Abilities of Sequence Number 2 and Sequence Number 1 weren’t the same... When Tang Haofei broke his limits, it was mainly reliant on his True God Dominant Body. Ordinary Demon Fiends couldn’t even break Tang Haofei’s skin, making it impossible to push the limits of his physical prowess. Therefore, Tang Haofei generally didn’t target Low-grade demonic creatures. But Sequence Number 2 was different. The Almighty Demon Vine had drastically increased Wen Yu’s demand for Demon Flesh, and it accepted all comers!

Ray understood perfectly well what this meant...

Watching the Demon Group continuously and fiercely charging toward the Yanjing Assembly Site, a sense of dejection began to well up in Ray’s heart. When the Demon Tribe Cannon Fodders couldn’t serve the purpose of depleting the enemy’s effective strength, but instead indirectly aided the enemy... their deaths would then be truly devoid of honor and value...

”There is truly no honor to speak of!” Marcus gazed at the dilapidated, gloomy buildings before him and muttered quietly.

”What honor does a gang leader need?” Wang Fucai, standing beside him, retorted flippantly.

”Humph.” Marcus grunted coldly.

In the Demon Realm, for someone of Wanping’s status within the Human Race, living in such a building was a clear display of weakness and vulnerability.

Of course, the important thing now is to remember our place... Ray has warned me more than once, Marcus thought.

”Let’s go.” After casually signaling to the others, Marcus took the lead and walked toward the building.

Although rundown, the headquarters of the Three Skulls Society indeed had impressive defenses.

”Halt! Who are you?” the professionist on guard duty yelled as he saw Arthur, Marcus, and the others drawing nearer.

”We are...” Arthur was about to present the Token issued by the military, but Marcus acted first.

A silver light flickered around him, and in the next instant, Marcus vanished from his spot. He reappeared behind the guard, his right hand plunging directly into the man’s torso.

Marcus ripped out the soft heart and then casually crushed it.

”Let’s go in. Why waste words with these minions!”

Arthur’s mouth fell slightly agape, a hint of confusion flickering in his eyes. With the military’s Token, they could move unhindered even within the headquarters of the Three Skulls Society. This was the simplest and most efficient way to handle things. But this Marcus fellow... His bloodlust is extraordinary! Of course, this was a minor matter. Arthur wasn’t some overly compassionate saint; he wouldn’t antagonize Marcus over a stranger.

”Let’s go.” With Wen Yu and Qin Tian absent, Arthur consciously took on the lead, guiding Yang Hong and Wang Fucai into the building.

Wen Yu’s voice turned colder. ”What are you still standing around for? Find the commander and tell him to stop the artillery fire!”

”Yes, I understand...” Ray watched as the vine on Wen Yu’s hand grew thicker and thicker, already beginning to creep down the city wall. Even knowing the horrific scene that was about to unfold, he could do nothing but acquiesce and head off to the side. Perhaps it started when I transformed into a Human... The Demon Tribe Cannon Fodders I used to scorn now seem increasingly familiar. Only when one is far from home can one truly understand the meaning of ”kin”... Thinking of this, Ray gave a self-deprecating laugh. Even though I often advise Marcus to be clear about his identity, how can my own heart quickly adapt to such a sudden change in race?

BOOM!

The solid wooden door was violently smashed open.

Clutching a professionist by the neck, Marcus slowly approached Wanping’s office.

Inside, it was completely empty. Outside, blood stained the ground everywhere.

”This is it. You guys look around for yourselves,” Marcus said. As he finished speaking, a silver light flashed from his hand. The professionist’s neck in his grasp was crushed into a paper-thin, bloody mess. Blood erupted, instantly dyeing a large patch of the ceiling crimson.

Arthur frowned deeply. He set Cyclops down, letting the creature search for Wanping’s trail, while he stared intently at the man named Marcus.

”You... Are you sick?” Arthur’s words sounded like an accusation, but everyone present knew he wasn’t just cursing Marcus. He genuinely felt there was something wrong with this Marcus fellow.

He had slaughtered his way through, leaving nearly a hundred dead in his wake, and by the looks of it, Marcus still wasn’t satisfied.

”Hmph.” Marcus snorted. He pulled a handkerchief, already stained crimson with blood, from his pocket and leisurely wiped his hands.

”Mercy to the enemy is cruelty to oneself. This is what your ancestors said!”

This quote was famously attributed to Napoleon. Although Marcus’s nationality was unknown, his use of ”your ancestors” wasn’t a major issue.
