Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 537: Chapter 109: Taking over_1

Wanping left Vincent’s residence, wrapped up tightly from head to toe, and headed for the teleportation passage.

At this moment, Wanping didn’t feel any sense of impending safety or relaxation—being chased around like a homeless dog, no one could relax!

Besides...

What a waste of Akad... Or to be more accurate, what a waste of the River of Death on Akad! Thinking about this, Wanping was almost overwhelmed by frustration!

Initially, during the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, I had planned to join forces with Akad to take down Wen Yu—this was a long-term operation, but for revenge, I had all the time in the world! But after acquiring a certain item, my approach changed. Instead of humbly accommodating Akad, I thought it would be better to take full control of him. The plan was going smoothly—including secretly luring Kasu and Vincent here, and covertly establishing contact with Vincent. Everything was going smoothly! But Wen Yu came too quickly! He has his own base, far away in Las Vegas, so why would he come to Yanjing just as the demon plague began?

Wanping didn’t know that Las Vegas had already been leveled, so naturally, he couldn’t understand this.

To save his own skin, Wanping couldn’t care less about the ”Akad Control Plan” that was already half-implemented. He promptly betrayed Akad to find a way to survive.

Under the siege of the Demon Fiends, there was virtually no way out of the city. All city gates, walls, and even tunnels were filled with defense weapons and professionists. All routes leading out were under military control. Coupled with the massive number of Demon Fiends outside, the only way out was the teleportation passage in Eternal Sky City.

Trading Akad’s life for my own... it’s not a loss, not a loss... Wanping could only secretly comfort himself.

「...」

Upon reaching the teleportation passage to Eternal Sky City, Wanping let out a hefty sigh of relief.

Just the news that a Sequence Number 2 arrived in Yanjing cost me the huge Three Skulls Society and Akad, who possessed powerful Esoteric Level skills... This is so fucking infuriating!

He showed his badge to the soldiers on duty. Under their respectful gazes, Wanping passed through several checkpoints to reach the Exchange Stone Pillar.

After thinking for a moment, as if reminiscing about his time spent in the Yanjing Assembly Site, Wanping activated the teleportation.

I have a general idea of where to go... I’ll head back to Mudanjiang City first. It’s desolate now, home only to mutant beasts and Demon Fiends. Given Wen Yu’s current status and personality, it’s unlikely he’d ever return there.

「...」

Wen Yu was, of course, completely unaware of Wanping’s actions.

At this moment, Wen Yu was in a conference room with Tang Haofei, conducting a handover of authority—temporary, of course—in front of all the military’s top figures.

This was a minor detail; the true purpose was to allow these top military figures to familiarize themselves with Wen Yu, to prevent any unforeseen issues later.

Hundreds of powerful professionists were gathered together—a magnificent sight. After all, any one of them, if placed outside, would be considered a powerful expert capable of defending an entire region.

At this time, Tang Haofei was seated at the head of the table, delivering a lengthy speech. His tone was steady and rhythmic, reminiscent of leaders giving speeches before the apocalypse; it even had a somewhat hypnotic effect.

Everyone present understood the main purpose of the meeting. They paid little attention to Tang Haofei’s hollow speech, which sounded as if he were reciting a script. Instead, hundreds of pairs of eyes scanned Wen Yu from head to toe.

Qin Tian, seated beside him, gently nudged Wen Yu with his elbow.

”The military’s strength is truly formidable!”

It was no wonder Qin Tian said so. According to Wen Yu’s observation, at least five people present possessed combat abilities comparable to Qin Tian’s.

Seated to Tang Haofei’s left were Walter, Qin Min, and Kasu. Further down were two professionists Wen Yu didn’t recognize.

Walter, Qin Min, and Kasu were all familiar faces, so no introduction was needed. However, Wen Yu had no impression of the other two.

One was a blonde, blue-eyed foreigner; the other, an Asian man with a heroic demeanor.

Judging by how they sat close together and occasionally whispered to each other, their relationship seemed to be quite good.

Perhaps sensing Wen Yu’s gaze, the Asian man slowly turned his eyes to Wen Yu, the corners of his mouth upturning slightly as he smiled and nodded.

The Caucasian man beside him, however, looked at Wen Yu with a peculiar expression—not hostile or malicious, but containing an inexplicable sense of familiarity and something more complex.

”That’s Ray, and the other is Marcus. They both joined the military after the demon plague descended,” Tang Haofei conveyed, who was on one hand reciting his prepared speech with deliberate cadence, while simultaneously sending a discreet Spiritual Fluctuation to Wen Yu.

”Their strength is quite formidable, possibly even greater than Walter’s or Qin Tian’s. Where did people like them even come from?” Tang Haofei continued via Spiritual Fluctuation.

”I don’t know. But we’ve conducted all the necessary checks and confirmed there are no issues. I’ll introduce you to them after the meeting ends.”

Tang Haofei was multitasking, handling the superficial formalities of the meeting with one part of his mind while fervently conversing with Wen Yu through their mental link.
