Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 535: Chapter 108 Running Away_1

After sitting and thinking for a long time, Wanping’s brow slowly unfurled.

This is truly big trouble... Sigh... It seems the good days have finally come to an end.

Having understood this, Wanping decisively got up, picked up the overcoat hanging nearby, and walked straight out the door.

It had to be said, when Wanping’s mental state was normal, his intellect was certainly not lacking.

Given the reputation I’ve made for myself in the Yanjing Assembly Site’s outer city zone, even if not everyone knows me, the military definitely has a file on me. And under these circumstances, if Wen Yu finds out I’m in Yanjing, what would happen... I can already imagine my miserable end... Compared to my own life, power and influence are truly insignificant.

...

After ending the call on his communicator, Wanping walked out of the room. He followed the dimly lit corridor until he reached a door hidden in a corner of the floor.

He knocked gently. A somewhat hoarse and strange voice came from within.

”Who is it?”

”It’s me.”

CREAK.

The door hinges groaned as Wanping walked directly into the room. The acrid, bloody odor in the room made Wanping’s brow slowly furrow.

”Akad, have you brought food back again?”

In the darkness, two pairs of crimson pinpricks of light slowly appeared. They gleamed like the eyes of a fiend, full of murderous intent and malice, staring straight at Wanping, who was not far away.

After a moment, the red light gradually faded, and Akad’s completely unnatural voice emerged.

”The food you provide is too little. My injuries are critical and can’t wait. Kasu and Vincent are hunting me relentlessly, and I have no other options...”

The conversation between Akad and Wanping no longer had any clear distinction of superior and subordinate. It seemed that many things had happened between them in this period.

”Have you found any news about Kasu?”

After a moment, a gloomy, eerie voice, sounding as if its vocal cords had been torn, came from the darkness. Hearing this, Wanping slowly shook his head.

”Kasu is nowhere to be found... If you hadn’t slipped up back then, Kasu wouldn’t have caught you. How could you have ended up in this situation today, Akad... *Sir*...?”

The rich sarcasm in Wanping’s tone made Akad, hidden in the darkness, seethe with murderous intent.

However, when comparing the severely injured Akad to Wanping, the difference in their strength was starkly clear—Akad was no match for Wanping.

After a long silence, once Akad had suppressed his murderous intent and rage, he spoke again.

”Then what did you come here for?”

Wanping squinted, looking in Akad’s direction as if calculating something. Upon hearing Akad’s words, an almost imperceptible cold smile touched Wanping’s lips.

”I came to inform you of something. We need to leave now.”

”Leave? Why? My injuries haven’t healed yet...”

”Because my enemy is about to come knocking.”

Wanping swiftly cut Akad off.

”An enemy? What enemy could be more terrifying than Kasu and Vincent?”

Wanping chuckled, his smile widening. ”Heh heh... Heh heh heh... HA HA HA HA!”

The smile on Wanping’s lips grew wider, his voice louder. He looked at Akad as if gazing upon a delicious meal.

”Sir Akad... I forgot to tell you. You see, I actually have a nemesis... Tsk tsk. Right now, this nemesis of mine is in the Yanjing Assembly Site. I reckon he’ll be coming to find trouble with me very soon.”

”Oh, right. I don’t think I ever told you, my enemy’s name is Wen Yu. And there’s more bad news: Wen Yu is very likely cooperating with the military. It’s only a matter of time before he finds me here. So, whether you stay here and wait to be caught, or leave with me—it’s entirely up to you.”

After speaking, Wanping ignored Akad’s heavy breathing in the darkness, turned, and walked towards the door.

”Oh, by the way, Akad, you only have ten minutes. So, hurry up and clear away that trash you’ve strewn on the floor, and get rid of that rotten smell on you!”

With that, Wanping firmly slammed Akad’s door shut, leaving only Akad, hidden in the darkness, and the pervasive stench of rot and blood filling the room.

...

Trapped...

This was perhaps an accurate description of Akad’s current state.

Ever since he obtained the River of Death (Species-specific Esoteric Level), Akad had never been as weak as he had these past two days. Every inch of his skin reeked of rot and was covered in burn marks.

Looking back at everything that had happened since he arrived at the Yanjing Assembly Site, all the events, all the coincidences, slowly connected to form a single line.

When Wanping first offered to serve me, I knew clearly that he must be seeking something. However, our initial cooperation could be considered mutually beneficial, so I had no reason to decline. Even knowing Wanping harbored ill intentions, I was fearless. It was merely a contest of who was stronger, whose methods were more cunning. But I never expected that what this guy was after wasn’t something else—it was my life!

Even though it was obvious that Kasu and Vincent, leading the ’Akad Hunting Squad,’ had found and severely injured me, and that Wanping was involved, I currently have no way to retaliate! I’m severely injured, and Wanping’s strength is not to be underestimated. Without a vast amount of life force, I might not even be his match! In the end, Wanping still proved more skillful...

Recalling how he had been kept like a dog in this dark, tiny room for the past two days, a surge of furious anger slowly rose in Akad’s heart.
