Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 527: Chapter 103 Return_1

「After ten days.」

Wang Fucai put down his communicator and let out a sigh of relief.

”So, was the contact successful?” Yang Hong asked from the side.

Wang Fucai nodded lightly. ”Wen Yu said we should assemble at the Red Stone Grand Canyon.”

Yang Hong stayed quiet for a moment before slowly getting up and walking to the entrance of the cave where they were hiding. Outside, all was desolate.

The two of them were hiding not far from Las Vegas, and naturally, they saw the collapse and dispersion of the Demon Army. They both had an idea as to what had happened.

Ten days ago, Wen Yu had sent them a message telling them to act freely, and they had been wandering around Las Vegas ever since.

”It looks like whatever was happening on Wen Yu’s side is over... I guess this counts as revenge for everyone at the Red Stone Hotel.”

Seeing the sadness on Yang Hong’s face, Wang Fucai offered a word of comfort.

These ten days of staying together had significantly deepened the understanding between Yang Hong and Wang Fucai. Although they wouldn’t call themselves comrades yet, they had at least grown closer.

Yang Hong silently nodded, staring at the view outside the cave entrance, remaining silent for a long time.

...

「A considerable distance west of Las Vegas.」

Arthur killed an Early Stage Level 5 Demon Fiend with one stroke of his sword, then stood in place to catch his breath.

His Soul-Armored suit resembled a messy oil painting, smeared with colorful Demon Blood.

Behind him, a tall but somewhat disheveled figure slowly crawled out of the ruined buildings and approached Arthur.

”Is it over?”

”Yes, it was just a small group of randomly encountered Demon Fiends. Not a problem. But you—I’ve told you so many times to hide farther away...” Arthur looked helplessly at Qin Shiyuan beside him.

”It’s alright, you’re so powerful. You wouldn’t let the Demon Fiends hurt me, would you?” Qin Shiyuan replied to Arthur, her tone teasing.

Ten days of bloody experiences had matured this girl, whom Qin Tian had always protected like delicate porcelain, quite a bit—at least to the point where she wouldn’t faint at the sight of Demon Blood in various colors.

...

”So, how’s that saying go on Earth? ’It’s adversity that makes us who we are’?” Mara said casually, observing the somewhat ambiguous scene between Arthur and Qin Shiyuan reflected in the irregular mirror before her.

Behind her, five Demon Fiends with different appearances were busy with their own tasks, making the scene seem a bit chaotic. Mara, however, didn’t care whether any other creature responded to her words.

This woman, aside from being a bit timid, has a pretty good temperament. She’s grown a lot in these past ten days... Tsk tsk, she’s quite worthy of The Sixth Generation Seed of Destruction.

While mulling over her game plan, Mara slowly played with the jet-black, grain-sized object in her hand, letting out a soft sigh after a while.

”By the way, how are things on Sequence Number 2’s side?”

Upon hearing Mara’s inquiry, Number 1—a Demon Fiend with massive eyeballs—immediately reported, ”The Demon Army in Las Vegas has been entirely defeated. None of the high-end combatants escaped, though quite a few Low-grade demonic creatures fled...”

For the Demon Tribe, this was the worst possible news. It meant that a third of their elite warriors, the vanguard of the first wave to invade the American Continent, had been buried in Las Vegas.

However, for Mara, these were trifles.

The focus is the military pledge I made—to bring back Sequence Number 2’s head within a year... It seems I might have been bragging when I made that pledge.

Countless thoughts flashed through Mara’s mind. After a while, she shook her head.

The way to complete the mission still lies with the Bone Sword Man and the Knight. Moreover, just these two won’t be enough... So, the plan still needs to rely on external factors. I wonder if a year will be enough...

Thinking this, Mara turned her gaze toward the documents beside her.

On the black, unknown-material cover, ”Overview of Earth’s current forces, powerful experts, and their interrelationships” was written in large, red Demon Realm script.

Leveraging external forces is a necessary tactic for the weak to topple the strong. It was also what Mara excelled at.

...

「Near the Las Vegas crater.」

The crater—this was the name Wen Yu had come up with for the large basin formed by a falling meteor.

Wen Yu sat by the crater, a cigarette in one hand and a chicken leg in the other, voraciously chewing on a lunch that could be considered lavish in this post-apocalyptic era.

Beside Wen Yu, countless vines twisted and spread rapidly in all directions, attempting to find any Demon Fiends hidden there—though, of course, this was pointless now, as all the Demon Fiends in the Las Vegas area had been completely wiped out.

Not far away, a figure slowly walked toward Wen Yu.

”Is it over?”

Wen Yu nodded. ”Let’s leave it at that for now. We need to discuss our next plan. At least we should get your sister settled first, right?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s response, Qin Tian nodded.

”Thanks.”

When Qin Tian climbed out of the ravine, he happened to see Wen Yu carrying out his extermination. After hesitating briefly, he chose to put aside matters concerning his sister and joined in exterminating the Demon Fiends. It was therefore not surprising that the two of them met by the evening of the first day.

He swallowed the chicken leg, bones and all. Thanks to his incredible digestive abilities and superior physical condition, he certainly wouldn’t experience an embarrassing situation like choking.

With a thought from Wen Yu, the mass of surrounding vines, as if they had found their source, rushed toward Wen Yu’s body. Within three seconds, the Almighty Demon Vine had reformed into a seed, lying dormant in Wen Yu’s arm.
