Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 532: Chapter 106 From the Ocean_1

A dedicated passage connected Eternal Sky City and the Yanjing Assembly Site—exclusively for military use.

This time, Wen Yu was essentially doing a favor for the entire Yanjing Assembly Site, so he received treatment usually reserved for top military brass.

En route to the exclusive passage in a military vehicle, the officer leading the way gave Wen Yu a brief overview of the Yanjing Assembly Site’s current situation, without going into excessive detail. Wen Yu didn’t feel the need to ask for more details.

However, from the officer’s words, Wen Yu easily gleaned more detailed information. For instance, the situation at the Yanjing Assembly Site wasn’t too dire. This was particularly because it shouldered most of the pressure from the demon plague, considerably relieving the burden on other assembly sites in Asia. Although the Yanjing Assembly Site attracted most of the attention due to the demon plague, this had its advantages. Namely, the abundant production of points and magic crystals continually strengthened its overall power.

In these end times, blindly fleeing for survival solves no problems. Indeed, those who fear death often die the quickest. On the contrary, the cycle of fighting, becoming stronger, and then fighting again is the best way to address these problems.

Before long, the military’s dedicated transmission channel—which was, in reality, an ordinary Exchange Stone Pillar—was already within sight.

After the familiar sensation of Dizziness, Wen Yu found himself inside a vast warehouse in the blink of an eye.

Ahead, Lan Bo approached Wen Yu with a welcoming smile.

”Let’s go, I’ll show you around.”

Lan Bo didn’t bother with pleasantries. With an easy familiarity, he gestured for everyone to follow as he led the way out. ”The teleportation point was placed near the wall of the inner city zone,” he said. ”This ensures quick ingress and egress for military personnel from Eternal Sky City and also prevents harassment from the refugees outside.”

Standing at the foot of the massive city wall, Lan Bo continued to explain to the group. He was naturally talkative, so this job seemed perfect for him.

He spoke for some time, mostly explaining the current situation, though it didn’t offer any particularly useful insights. Finally, he seemed to remember something and turned to Wen Yu.

”Should we first head to the Frontline Command Post or to your assigned base?”

Wen Yu pondered briefly. ”Let’s head to the Frontline Command Post first.”

Wen Yu wasn’t optimistic about the Yanjing Assembly Site’s base. Given its location, it surely couldn’t compare to their base in Eternal Sky City. To him, it was largely insignificant.

”We guessed you’d say that. That’s why Brother Fei and the others are already waiting for you at the Frontline Command Post.”

Lan Bo’s tone then turned considerably solemn as he addressed Wen Yu gravely, ”I must say this again; your presence here has been a tremendous help.”

The Frontline War Operations Command Center wasn’t far from the teleportation site. Consequently, Lan Bo, Wen Yu, and the others didn’t take a military vehicle. Instead, numerous military personnel cleared their path, while countless curious, respectful, and even fearful eyes watched their unhurried progress.

The reason was simple: with the city besieged by Demon Fiends, the military wouldn’t miss any opportunity to boost morale or deter troublemakers. The current situation looked very much like Sequence Number 2 joining the military, though that wasn’t actually the case.

Thanks to some orchestrated promotion, the identities of Wen Yu’s party quickly spread. After the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, what it meant to be part of the Sequence had become common knowledge. Therefore, it wasn’t hard to imagine the significant impact the news of ’Sequence Number 2 joining the Cathay military’ would have worldwide!

Wen Yu didn’t react to this. The fact that Lin Haifeng was leveraging the situation for his own ends didn’t affect Wen Yu.

What surprised Wen Yu were the inquisitive glances from the countless people on both sides. There were so many of them... And people of all nationalities and complexions. The outer city zone of the Yanjing Assembly Site currently looked like a proper refugee camp and a garbage dump.

Fortunately, the military and police escort ensured that the situation remained orderly. These refugees weren’t out of their minds; they were merely curious onlookers. Once the spectacle was over, they would return home. This wasn’t like chasing celebrities; no one was crying and shouting for autographs.

The cordon formed by the military and police was less to protect Wen Yu and his party from being mobbed and more to protect the innocent bystanders.

As Lan Bo led Wen Yu’s group further away, the military’s online promoters began to spread Wen Yu’s identity.

Various rumors rapidly spread through the crowd. One had to admit, Lin Haifeng’s move wasn’t bad. At the very least, it could alleviate some of the refugees’ fear of the Demon Tribe, indirectly reducing the crime rate in the outer city zone.

Of course, some unexpected developments were quietly unfolding, unbeknownst to both Lin Haifeng and Wen Yu.

A professionist in ordinary clothes, wearing a badge with three skulls on his chest, heard the surrounding buzz of discussion. After a moment’s thought, he turned and walked back the way he came.

「Meanwhile, in another direction.」

Watching the figures stroll casually into the distance, a middle-aged Level 4 professionist in leather armor couldn’t help but lick his lips, sighing in admiration.

”Military and police clearing the path, Sequence Number 9 as an escort, drawing the admiring gazes of countless people... just like a king on inspection. Now that’s what a powerful expert looks like...”
