Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 503: Chapter 89 Trap (Extra update of 20,000 reward for GuZiFengLing 1/2!)_1

Within the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier, in an unknown Secondary Space.

Mara propped his head with his right upper limb, his brows tightly knitted as he observed the unfolding scene before him.

Not far in front of Mara, an unknown object—resembling both a rippling water wave and a mirror—vividly displayed all the scenes within the barrier: the ongoing battle near the Red Stone Hotel, Wen Yu running aimlessly, and even an internal view of the flesh cocoons ceaselessly squirming above the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier.

At the center of this Secondary Space, a pitch-black, heart-like object throbbed ceaselessly. Countless vein-like conduits protruded from the black heart, spreading out as if piercing space itself, extending beyond this Secondary Space to connect with the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier in the outside world.

This was the control core of the entire Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier!

Mara lightly tapped the pure black ground of the Secondary Space, his brows slightly creased as he watched the unstoppable Wen Yu in the mirror.

A low mumble escaped his lips.

How does this guy know all this information...

The fact that Wen Yu was using the Soul Battlefield to extract intelligence remained a mystery to Mara.

After a moment, Mara decisively stopped this line of thought, which was doomed to be fruitless. As Wen Yu’s search brought him closer and closer to the entrance of this Secondary Space, Mara showed no signs of anxiety.

He picked up a nearby skeletal communicator and spoke quickly into it.

”This is the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier. How are the arrangements outside?”

No sooner had his words fallen than a reply came from the communicator.

”Everything is ready. What about your situation?”

”Ah... The Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier is doomed to be broken. Sequence Number 2 will probably locate the central control core in about three minutes. I am preparing to evacuate now.”

Hearing that the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier was about to fall, the other side of the communicator expressed no surprise or regret. When Sequence Number 2 entered the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier, the Demon Clan Headquarters had already anticipated this. This, in turn, meant the Demon Tribe had a contingency plan ready.

This contingency plan, however, was not to be enacted within the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier...

”Permission to evacuate. Be careful.”

”Understood. But before I evacuate, I should leave these guys a few small presents...”

Mara smiled, ended the call, then rose and walked to the central control core, inputting a series of commands.

Then, Mara’s figure slowly vanished from this space.

He had fled.

...

In the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier.

Wen Yu tore through the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier like a hurricane.

Within a short period, Wen Yu had searched nearly half the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier’s expanse but had found nothing.

Of course, Wen Yu had anticipated this.

What Wen Yu found most incredible was that nearly five minutes had passed, yet not a single flesh cocoon above the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier had burst!

This also meant not a single duplicant had appeared!

Without duplicants joining the battle, the defenders around the Red Stone Hotel had the situation entirely under control.

What’s going on? Did they give up?

As Wen Yu was lost in thought, a faint Space Fluctuation emanated from a location 300 meters to his right.

Sensing this, Wen Yu’s eyes instantly lit up.

”Found it!”

Afterward, Wen Yu changed direction, rushing directly toward the source of the Space Fluctuation.

...

At the source of the Space Fluctuation, Wen Yu found nothing out of the ordinary.

This was not what he had predicted.

In Wen Yu’s estimation, the central control core was so vital that the Demon Tribe couldn’t be too cautious; he had even braced himself for a bitter struggle.

Turning his head, Wen Yu saw the black threads still encircling him, slaying any Demon Fiend that dared approach. Above him, the flesh cocoons nurtured by the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier remained still—except their twitching had grown more violent!

Wen Yu was somewhat puzzled by the current situation. However, whatever plot the Demon Tribe had, he would deal with it when it came.

With that thought, Wen Yu focused his mind.

The laws of the Netherworld instantly shifted, and the perceived Space Fluctuation from the Secondary Space immediately revealed an entrance to Wen Yu!

...

Suddenly, a tear appeared in the space before him—this was the entrance to the Secondary Space. Inside, it was pitch black, and nothing could be perceived.

Taking a deep breath, the black threads circling Wen Yu instantly wrapped around his body, adding a powerful layer of defense. The next moment, he plunged directly into the entrance of the Secondary Space!

...

Just as Wen Yu entered the Secondary Space, at the edge of the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier...

Mara, having already retreated from the battlefield, sensed the Secondary Space’s intrusion. A strange smile touched his lips.

He immediately activated his abilities, attempting to close the Secondary Space and seal Wen Yu inside.

But...

It had no effect.

Wen Yu was also prepared for the enemy’s schemes. The Netherworld was fully active. Under the crushing power of an Esoteric Level skill of the same nature, Mara had already lost control of the Secondary Space.

However, this was inconsequential. It was merely a test on Mara’s whim; the true conspiracy wasn’t located in this Secondary Space.

It lay within... the creature’s own mind!

Thinking of this, Mara smiled eerily.

I wonder how the Human Race’s Sequence Number 2 will choose? It’s truly something to look forward to...

Then, Mara leaned casually against the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier’s edge and lightly snapped his fingers.

The next second, all the flesh cocoons suspended on the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier burst open. A total of 58 humanoid or grotesquely shaped duplicants CRASHED to the ground, then rose and stormed towards the Red Stone Hotel!

...

As if passing through a watery membrane, Wen Yu squeezed through the dark fissure into the Secondary Space.

A quiet atmosphere enveloped Wen Yu. The Secondary Space’s existence severed all connections to the outside world—sound, visuals, and even communication.

He gave the entire Secondary Space a quick survey.

The space was dark, with very dim light; only two spots emitted a faint glow.

Fortunately, with these two light sources, Wen Yu’s vision as a Peak Level 5 Professionist was sufficient to see everything in the Secondary Space clearly.

The expected ambush and battle did not occur.

The Secondary Space wasn’t large, and aside from the two light sources, it contained nothing else.

Wen Yu turned his gaze towards the two glowing objects.

One was an irregular mirror, rippling like water. From Wen Yu’s angle, he could clearly see the image it displayed.

It depicted the battle at the Red Stone Hotel outside—the fierce engagement continued, but there were no significant developments. Led by the three powerhouses—Qin Tian, Arthur, and Faceless—the defensive line was secure, with minimal casualties.

Furthermore, the flesh cocoons in the sky continued to writhe, yet showed no sign of completing their incubation.

Seeing this, Wen Yu’s brow furrowed.

Has Mara fled? And what are these Demon Bastards thinking? They still haven’t deployed the duplicants...

Something is off...
