Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 518: Chapter 98 Siege_2

”Victor, listen to me. Under such intense assaults, I couldn’t save the others. Things are as they are, and I don’t possess the power to resurrect the dead. You see the situation too; a very powerful assassin is attacking from a distance. I need your assistance.”

While Wen Yu was pacifying Victor, he didn’t stop his actions and directly activated the Pitch-dark World.

Black Light instantly enveloped the entire battlefield, concurrently blocking the vision of the distant Spider Demon Hunter.

One advantage of having various skills is being able to handle a variety of situations...

「...」

Under the cover of the Pitch-dark World, a constant stream of Demon Fiends recklessly rushed in as if courting death. Once inside, they were cursed and utterly eliminated by Wen Yu’s Palpitation and Mad Medley, as well as the attacks from Cyclops and Faceless.

Meanwhile, the Spider Demon Hunter, concealed in his location, didn’t hastily launch another attack. Instead, he concealed himself once more, moving ceaselessly within the massive Demon Group while continuously sending the latest battlefield situation back to the War Operations Command Center.

”Sequence Number 2 has appeared and has been temporarily locked in position. But currently, there is no better method to confront the enemy. Spider Demon Hunter requests support.”

”Command Center received. The flame sorcerer is in position and will strike in three seconds.”

Upon hearing this, the Spider Demon Hunter felt somewhat relieved. As a fellow Demon Army’s Breed, the Spider Demon Hunter was familiar with the power of the flame sorcerer.

As expected, three seconds later, a black fireball burning ferociously flew directly towards the location of the Pitch-dark World!

「Inside the Pitch-dark World.」

Wen Yu was trying to console Victor while also attempting to locate the concealed assassin. Of course, he wasn’t expecting results, as he didn’t possess superior investigative abilities.

”Victor! Victor, calm down!”

Seeing Victor lying on the ground, covering his head and trembling, Wen Yu’s heart immediately tightened.

The relationship between a Soul Master and their soul pet is like that of family. Seeing Victor in distress, Wen Yu also felt an inexplicable pang of sorrow.

However, the difference between Humans and animals lies in self-restraint... Even if it is a divine beast and possesses intelligence beyond the norm, animals are still animals. Their sentiments—or rather, their instincts—will always outweigh their rationale!

However, the battlefield never affords anyone enough time.

Before Victor could react, a black fireball slammed into the Pitch-dark World. The black flames exploded immediately, and the ensuing violent, destructive Energy Fluctuations instantly shredded Wen Yu’s Pitch-dark World.

This wasn’t due to overpowering skill levels—Wen Yu hadn’t yet found any skill that could overpower the Pitch-dark World—the key was the special energy fluctuations contained within the black fireball: a peculiar Attribute that could seemingly nullify all continuous skills! It was similar to a demon-dispelling effect, but its activation was faster and its Lethality greater!

「...」

Sparks of black fire sputtered everywhere. A small piece hazardously stuck to Wen Yu’s body, then instantly ignited surging Devil Flames.

A strange sensation, neither hot nor cold, traveled up from Wen Yu’s skin. At the same time, he felt a massive drain on his stamina; his darkness power seemed sluggish, and a feeling of helplessness arose spontaneously. He was nearly unable to maintain his elemental type form.

Wen Yu quickly activated Dragon Blood Amplification. His blood instantly began to burn, and the immense power from this combustion reactivated his darkness.

The next second, Black Light shimmered on Wen Yu’s body, quickly extinguishing the black flames.

When the black flames were extinguished, Wen Yu seemed to hear the screams of countless resentful spirits in his ear. A Soul Impact, not particularly intense, still pierced through his skull in an instant, infiltrating the deepest part of his mind.

Too bad. Soul-type attacks couldn’t stir up even a slight ripple against him—his Soul Power was currently strong enough!

”Be careful! The fireball skill just now should be SSS-Class, with an extremely small probability of being SS-Class or Esoteric Level. It has a magic-nullifying and sealing effect. When it dissipates, it will also launch a Soul Attack.”

As Wen Yu transmitted these Soul Fluctuations to his nearby soul pets, he waved his hand and released two Shadows, extinguishing the black flames on Cyclops and Faceless.

Then, another invisible attack swiftly cut through the group of Demon Fiends surrounding Wen Yu and his three soul pets, landing directly on Cyclops!

「...」

Cyclops’ defense capabilities paled in comparison to Star, who wore the Demon Dragon Armor.

Even though it possessed the Great Feast ability, it had acquired it too recently and consumed too few Demon Fiends. Besides growing scales underneath its short fur, Cyclops hadn’t undergone any significant physical changes.

And the newly grown scales wouldn’t offer much defense.

Furthermore, Cyclops’ current strength was indeed significantly lower than Star’s. Therefore, the Spider Demon Hunter’s attack was highly effective!

A cold sensation swiftly slid across Cyclops’ neck. The next second, its enormous head fell to the ground.

Admittedly, the Demon Tribe’s fighting method was quite cunning. They used cannon fodder to construct the first line of defense, trapping Wen Yu and his soul pets in one spot, and then rained down ranged attacks from the outside. If there were no Spider Demon Hunter and three flame sorcerers, Wen Yu was confident he could slaughter these Demon Fiends. However, just because Wen Yu was strong individually didn’t mean the Demon Tribe lacked powerful individuals! In fact, the side that truly wielded absolute power was not Wen Yu, but the Demon Tribe!

「...」

The moment Cyclops’ head fell, a pure black flame swiftly spread from the wound on its neck. The black Devil Flame regenerated another large, elemental type head. Then, Cyclops threw its new head back as if to howl—but without vocal cords, it couldn’t roar.

Just as Wen Yu was unaware of all the Demon Tribe’s abilities, they too were not fully aware of his and his soul pets’ skills—at least, not all of them.

Cyclops’ Mortal Combat and Blood and Flesh Badge were among the abilities unknown to the Demon Tribe.

The moment its head was severed, Cyclops truly entered its battle state!

Ultra Mortal Combat (SSS-Class, Passive Skill) activated.

Combined with the Blood and Flesh Badge ability, what should have been a fatal decapitation instead became a catalyst, enhancing Cyclops’ strength at this very moment.

The Flames of Tyranny erupted everywhere. A large black circle of fire spread rapidly from beneath Cyclops’ feet, instantly incinerating all Demon Fiends within a kilometer radius.

Wen Yu, already prepared, had jumped up with Victor and Faceless, dodging this indiscriminate attack.

Seeing the battlefield suddenly cleared, Wen Yu shouted, ”Go!”

Then, leading his three soul pets, Wen Yu charged toward the direction from which the fireball had just struck.

「...」

Without airborne units, Wen Yu had no plans of breaking out of the encirclement on land. Powerful assassins hidden in the dark could follow behind, easily picking off him and his soul pets one by one during an escape. Moreover, an enemy capable of launching those fireballs had now appeared—that black fireball skill suppressed his elemental type state. Unless he killed them, escape would be a mere pipe dream.

Cyclops led the way, with Wen Yu and Faceless quickly following, racing towards the distant location from which the fireball had been launched.

Halfway there, they were attacked again by two fireballs and three invisible blades. Wen Yu and his soul pets barely managed to block them, but injuries were inevitable: Cyclops lost a leg, and Faceless suffered a massive wound on his shoulder, though Wen Yu himself was unharmed.

”Victor! VICTOR!!!” Wen Yu shouted while firing his gun. ”I need you!”

Having been despondent for so long, Victor finally seemed to register Wen Yu’s words. He slowly crawled out of Wen Yu’s arms and instantly disappeared.

At the same time, a Spiritual Fluctuation transmitted into Wen Yu’s mind: ”Help me kill them all...”
