Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 520: Chapter 99 Conspiracy and Competition Hidden in Darkness_2

It was like watching a blockbuster film packed with incredible special effects. The distant explosions and roars served as a fitting soundtrack, making the scene in the mirror even more vivid and dynamic.

However, this had no effect on Mara.

After a brief glance at the battlefield where Wen Yu and his soul pets fought, Mara decisively adjusted the lens, shifting the view to another location.

There, a man, a woman, and a child were desperately trying to break out. Without high-ranking Demon Fiends to hold Arthur back, he carried Qin Shiyuan in one arm and Nicole in the other. Arthur had transformed into a human bulldozer, purely using his physical strength to ram his way forward! Any Demon Fiend daring to make contact with Arthur along the way was smashed into a pile of demon goo, making the scene extremely bloody and brutal.

Amidst this carnage and gore, Qin Shiyuan, sheltered within the protective shield, had long since lost consciousness. Nicole, however—a young girl—watched the unfolding scene with a mixture of fear and a touch of excitement.

Seeing this, Mara smirked faintly and issued an order to the Demon Tribe commander responsible for that distant defensive sector.

”Go easy... Send the higher-level Demon Fiends to Sequence Number 2’s battlefield.”

A swift reply came from the other side: ”Order received.”

Only then did Mara relax, sweeping the mirror toward another spot.

There, Qin Tian had just climbed out of a crevice. He was scanning his surroundings, trying to find an escape route with weaker defensive power.

Then, Mara adjusted the lens back to Wen Yu’s battlefield once again.

The churning Demonic Qi clouds were entangled with Thunder and Darkness. Occasionally, an Ancient Demon would fly out from the maelstrom of these three intertwined energies, only to perish in mid-air.

For the current Wen Yu, ordinary Middle Stage Level 5 Ancient Demons were no match at all. Even more powerful Ancient Demons could not withstand a second of his relentless bombardment.

However, these fearless creatures significantly delayed Wen Yu’s advance.

Wen Yu’s fight against the Ancient Demon Battalion wasn’t like an elephant stepping on ants. Rather, it was like a ferocious tiger fighting a swarm of starving wild dogs to the death!

...

Mara, lurking in the shadows, clearly saw several Ancient Demons—whose raw power was comparable to his own—being forcefully struck down by Sequence Number 2. Although this inflicted faint, barely noticeable wounds on Sequence Number 2, thanks to his elementalized body and ceaseless recovery speed, these minor injuries quickly faded and vanished.

A chill ran down Mara’s spine.

Thank God I was smart enough to get into the Strategic Command Center. Otherwise, if I’d been assigned to the Ancient Demon Special Forces, I might be among the dead by now... Mara thought.

Mara continued to seriously assess Wen Yu’s true combat power while simultaneously perfecting the steps for the next ’game.’ After a long moment, he slowly raised his head.

It’s not enough... Mara mused. Based on Sequence Number 2’s current display of combat power, the Knight and the Bone Sword Man alone won’t pose much of a threat to him. Tsk, tsk, tsk... What should I do now?

After pondering for a while, Mara decisively picked up the skeletal communicator.

”War Operations Command Center? This is Mara. I want to request some reinforcements... and one more thing!”

...

Meanwhile, putting Mara’s scheming aside, the Spider Demon Hunter hidden within the Demon Group sensed an imminent danger.

He had no idea when this sense of danger had arisen or from which direction it came, but the Soul-Armored in his hand would not deceive him.

The bowstring trembled faintly, sending strange sonic waves sweeping in all directions, attempting to locate the unseen danger lurking nearby.

This wasn’t an ability of the Spider Demon Hunter himself—his Skill System was purely offensive—but rather a spontaneous action from the Soul-Armored.

But this only made the sense of danger feel all the more real.

After a moment, the Spider Demon Hunter slowly put away his longbow. His figure gradually faded as he stealthily moved further away.

Faced with an unknown danger, the Spider Demon Hunter made the most correct decision—to flee first.

As for the mission... he thought. Apologies, but between killing and being killed, I know very well which is more important.

...

The Spider Demon Hunter’s decision was very wise.

Given the Spider Demon Hunter’s Skill System, engaging in close combat was always a foolish decision.

However, since Victor had concealed himself, the Spider Demon Hunter had already launched four attacks on Wen Yu and the others.

After the first two attacks, Victor figured out the Spider Demon Hunter’s general direction.

During the third attack, Victor had calculated the Spider Demon Hunter’s movement trajectory.

And after the fourth attack, Victor had narrowed down the Spider Demon Hunter’s location to a specific range.

In fact, Victor was currently hovering tens of meters above the Spider Demon Hunter, his pupils contracted to pinpricks. He had activated Night Eyes at full power and was incessantly identifying the physical attributes and skill levels of the Demon Fiends below.

Early Stage Level 4... not him.

Mid First level... not him.

Peak Level 2... not him either.

...

Checking them one by one was naturally slow. But from this position, if the Spider Demon Hunter attacked again, Victor was certain he wouldn’t let him escape.

Actually, Victor had already detected the Spider Demon Hunter’s tracks when the latter activated his Concealment skill, attempting to flee the battlefield.
