Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 536: Chapter 108: Running Away_2

”I don’t know what you’re up to... but if you want my life, go ahead and try.”

As for Wanping’s so-called nemesis, Wen Yu, Akad didn’t take it to heart.

Things have already gotten to this point. Having an extra Sequence Number 2 might not necessarily be a bad thing!

「...」

Quickly taking out a bottle of clear potion, Wanping sprinkled it around places he usually frequented.

After a while, once he was done erasing traces of himself in his bedroom and office, Wanping decisively poured the remainder of the potion on himself.

The colorless and odorless liquid slid slowly down Wanping’s hair. As he felt his own scent gradually fade, he grabbed an assortment of things from the space ring and used them all on himself at once.

He had done this once before in Mudanjiang City. While he couldn’t exactly say he was now an expert, he was at least sure there would be no major issues.

After carefully checking again for any oversights, he left the room as soon as everything was in order.

Outside, Akad, dressed in a black robe with even his head covered by a hood, had been waiting for some time.

”Are you done?”

Hearing Wanping’s question, Akad silently nodded.

Wanping, however, was not reassured. He inspected Akad’s bedroom once more, cleaned up at least three traces, and then dealt with the scent on Akad before finally relaxing.

”Let’s go. We will use the underground tunnel to leave the city.”

Having issued a simple, three-word command, Wanping walked briskly downstairs.

Meanwhile, Akad did not respond...

The situation is beyond my control... It seems the master-servant dynamic has completely reversed...

「...」

The dim tunnel emitted a strange odor that could disrupt one’s sense of smell, providing good cover for Wanping and Akad.

”Where are we going?” Akad was the first to break the silence.

”I don’t know. We just need to get out of Yanjing first.”

”With things as they are, don’t you think we should at least make our intentions clear? What the hell are you scheming?”

Hearing Akad’s seemingly nonsensical question, Wanping merely smirked.

”Nothing much. Just trying to save my own skin.”

This simple brush-off drew mockery from Akad.

”Is treating me like a caged dog part of your escape plan?”

Wanping scoffed, then turned around and stared intently into Akad’s eyes, hidden beneath the hood. He slowly began to speak.

”If you don’t want to go, then stay. I’m not forcing you.”

”Besides, in your current state, do you really have any other options?”

Akad was speechless.

”Let’s go. I can assure you...”

”I won’t kill you...”

He won’t kill me... Akad scoffed inwardly. Heh.

Both he and Wanping were cut from the same cloth. For people like them, promises and assurances were merely child’s play.

With a Sequence Number 2 closing in, Wanping’s composure had also wavered. Now, he couldn’t even be bothered to continue playing house with Akad.

Taking a deep breath and enduring the intense pain, Akad quickly tried to adjust his physical state.

He had made up his mind—once out of the tunnel, he would fight, no matter what!

With no other options, a fight to the death had become Akad’s only recourse!

「...」

The dim underground passage was long and twisted, its destination unknown.

After a while, Wanping, who was leading the way, slowly stopped in front of an exit covered by a manhole cover.

”We’re here. You go up first.”

The commanding tone emanated from Wanping, but other than feeling a heightened rage, Akad was helpless.

After a long moment of silence, under Wanping’s increasingly menacing gaze, Akad finally nodded.

Slowly climbing the cold, slick ladder, the slimy, nauseating sensation stirred a boiling rage in Akad’s heart. Finally, Akad pushed open the manhole cover and once again saw the long-lost sunlight...

But this wasn’t the sunny wilderness; rather, it was a decently-sized courtyard.

”Akad, long time no see...”

A figure wrapped in bandages stood in the distance and gave Akad an inscrutable smile.

Akad stood still, calmly watching his ”old friend” across from him, and spoke in a low, hoarse voice, ”Vincent, it’s been a while...”

”Surprised? Amused?”

Hearing Vincent’s sarcastic words, Akad lightly shook his head.

”For me, nothing is surprising anymore.”

His tone was one of resignation, tinged with self-mockery.

Behind him, Wanping’s figure quickly climbed out of the sewer.

”Vincent, I’ve brought the person you wanted. Now it’s time for you to fulfill your promise!”

”Don’t worry. I’m not like you lot; I always keep my word.”

After saying this, Vincent directly pulled out a medal from his space ring.

”Take this, and you can pass through the military-controlled teleportation channel. Once you reach Eternal Sky City, you can catch another ride. Then the world is your oyster; you can go wherever you please.”

With that, Vincent tossed the badge to Wanping.

After carefully examining the badge, Wanping nodded slightly.

”Pleasure doing business with you.”

”Pleasure doing business with you.”

Although Vincent didn’t know why Wanping had contacted him to exchange Akad for access to the teleportation channel, it didn’t prevent the deal from being concluded. Vincent was unaware of the grudge between Wanping and Wen Yu. Besides, even if he had known, what could he have done?

Looking at Akad before him, Vincent lightly licked his purple-black lips.

Nothing, yes, nothing is more important than capturing Akad!

Ignoring the rapidly departing Wanping, Vincent slowly approached Akad, lightly sniffing the scent on him.

”How does the Corrupting Poison taste?”

”Quite the rare delicacy...” Akad joked.

Vincent gently put his arm around Akad’s shoulder, gesturing to the large yard.

”Come on, I’ll show you around my house, and then we can have a meal, a few drinks...”

After speaking, Vincent forcibly pulled Akad along, walking away while whispering in his ear, ”And then, let’s talk about how you came to possess the River of Death, how you threw me into the Pit of Ten Thousand Poisons, how you raped my wife and sister, and killed my son...

”Don’t worry, all the props are ready. There, you can spill your whole story, tell your tale! Tell me in detail how you betrayed your brothers for power!”

A strange sound escaped Akad. ”TSK. TSK. TSK...”

”Hey, Vincent, you forgot your parents...”

”Oh, right. I almost forgot. You killed my parents too.”

A smirk touched Vincent’s lips, but there was no anger in his expression.

”Stop trying to provoke me; it’s useless. Enjoy this beautiful scenery, have your last good meal, and then, slowly meet the fate you deserve. I swear, you’ll stay alive!”

Under Vincent’s control, the Corrupting Poison became extraordinarily active.

For Akad, this was undoubtedly terrible news...

This meant Akad didn’t even have the ability to fight back at this moment.

And waiting for Akad...

Vincent’s communicator began to beep.

”Kasu, what’s up?”

”Found any trace of Akad?”

Vincent looked at Akad in the black robe beside him and slowly said, ”No, do you have any news?”

”None here either. But there’s something else. Tang Haofei wants us at the War Operations Command Center. Wen Yu is here.”

”Alright, I understand. I’ll be right there.”

Ending the call, Vincent pulled Akad and turned in the opposite direction.

”Let’s go. We might not have time for that meal. I’ll take you to your new home instead.”
