Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 516: Chapter 97: Breakthrough (Extra Chapter for Book Friend Blood Curtain Ice Age’s Generous Reward)_1

The shockwave instantly ripped apart Qin Tian’s bones, while the scorching heat caused his skin to split and flesh to tear.

But, bizarrely, this situation wasn’t too bad for Qin Tian.

The shockwave and high temperatures had caused significant damage to Qin Tian, let alone the lower-level Demon Fiends.

Large numbers of Demon Fiends were wiped out instantly by the meteorite impact, which actually provided Qin Tian with a reasonably good chance to recover.

Besides, injuries that could be resolved with a healing potion weren’t truly grave.

As Qin Tian crawled into a shallow crevice, he gulped down a healing potion. In less than three minutes, his injuries would begin to heal, and there were no enemies around.

At this thought, Qin Tian finally felt a sense of relief and began to consider his next move.

After some brief thought, Qin Tian decisively brought out a spare communication device from his space ring.

His original communicator, which had been in his pocket, was shattered by the shockwave. Fortunately, each member of Wen Yu’s team carried several spares.

He quickly keyed in Arthur’s communication channel. After a few busy signals, Arthur immediately answered.

”Your sister is fine. We are currently located slightly south of west. Our specific coordinates are XXX, XXX.”

Arthur was straightforward, directly giving Qin Tian his location. He understood what Qin Tian was asking and didn’t waste any words.

Qin Tian mulled it over for a moment before speaking decisively.

”I’m injured right now and can’t move easily. If possible, I’d like to ask you to take my sister with you when you break out.”

”I’ll try my best...”

For Arthur, fighting his way out might not be a problem, but escorting two women with him wouldn’t be as simple as one plus one equals two.

”I trust you...”

After speaking, Qin Tian hung up without waiting for Arthur’s response.

Qin Tian took a long breath.

Even though he knew Qin Shiyuan’s current location, he couldn’t make it there in time.

There wasn’t enough time, and he himself was injured. Furthermore, going towards Arthur would mean passing through the heavily devastated meteor impact zone. The high temperatures and residual explosive force there might not be a big deal to Arthur, but for Qin Tian, it was no laughing matter.

With this in mind, Qin Tian downed another healing potion and squinted, adjusting his state to prepare for the upcoming escape.

The thick dust still filled the air.

The dust kicked up by an assault and explosion of this magnitude wouldn’t settle quickly.

But for Wen Yu, this was neither an issue nor a hurdle; in fact, it might even aid his escape.

After quickly downing a healing potion, Wen Yu decisively activated his 2nd and 3rd Soul Realms.

Since the Purple Light Spawn and Grow Barrier had already been shattered, Wen Yu could now summon Cyclops and Star back from the outside world.

Purple light flickered around him, and the figures of Cyclops and Star immediately appeared within his 2nd and 3rd Soul Realms.

Despite not seeing each other for over an hour, Cyclops and Star seemed to be in good condition, with no obvious signs of damage. This proved that neither Cyclops nor Star had been specifically targeted by the Demon Tribe.

This was good news, at least indicating that the Demon Tribe ambush waiting outside didn’t possess overwhelming strength!

After summoning Cyclops and Star back, Wen Yu ordered Cyclops to enter its mini mode, then climbed onto Star’s head while holding Cyclops.

”While I was away, did anything unusual happen outside?”

Cyclops, nestled in Wen Yu’s arms, shook its head, while Star sent a Spiritual Fluctuation in response.

”I saw a large meteorite, lots and lots of Ancient Demons, and a super tall monster...”

”Hmm...”

Wen Yu thought for a long time, realizing these might be the Demon Tribe’s ambush. A slight sense of alertness rose in him, but he had no concrete plan. If they were lying in wait outside, Wen Yu could only passively endure and respond to their attacks as they came; he had no truly effective measures.

He directly sent Star a Spiritual Fluctuation.

”Avoid them, find a relatively safe direction, and we’ll charge out first.”

They would break out first, then communicate with the others. Whether they decided to rendezvous or flee, he would be in an unassailable position.

As for Qin Tian and Arthur...

Until Wen Yu understood the situation, he genuinely had no mind to worry about their fates.

Simply put, Wen Yu’s current tactic was to sneak out first and then act as circumstances dictated once outside.

At least I must observe the enemy’s situation first before making a move...

Star understood Wen Yu’s tactics—sneak in quietly and hold your fire.

So, Star spread its wings without even performing its favorite take-off ritual—a long roar. The enormous power lifted Star’s body from the ground, and it flew towards a direction it had just observed.

In that direction, there weren’t many Ancient Demons, nor were there any intimidatingly gigantic monsters.

「In the outside world.」

After the meteorite fell, the pervasive dust and smoke immediately obscured the vision of the Demon Fiends surrounding Las Vegas.

The Demon Tribe’s American Continent High Command had already issued a top-level combat alert. The objective this time was to ensure no professionist within Las Vegas escaped!

The key targets were Sequence Number 2 and Sequence Number 4!

If the Hunting Group failed to kill Sequence Numbers 2 and 4, then the Demon Clan Army would complete the task. This would also prove that the members of the Hunting Group, despite consuming so many resources, weren’t pulling their weight. It might be better to reserve these resources and the Strengthen quota for the Demon Clan Army!

As the saying goes, wherever there are people, societies with their own complex dynamics form. This applied equally well to the Demon Tribe. The Demon Palace, which controlled the Hunting Group, and the Demon Clan Army—the Demon Tribe’s two main military systems—had always been at odds.

With the Demon Lord having not appeared in public for a long time, this competition had become far more intense than ever before.

The pervasive smoke and heatwaves made it impossible for the Demon Tribe to willingly enter the lethal zone of the meteorite’s impact, but that didn’t matter.

As long as the humans remained trapped within the encirclement, they could not escape—this was a conviction shared by every member of the Demon Tribe.

Thus, three flame sorcerers, one giant beast stone thrower, one Spider Demon Hunter, and the Demon Clan Army’s most powerful Level Five Army—the 13th Special Ops Combat Battalion—had all made thorough battle preparations.

Wen Yu didn’t make them wait too long.

Star’s wings instantly tore through the dust clouds, emerging from the thick, swirling smoke.

The next second, a hail of ranged attacks rained down from below like a violent storm.

But against Star’s defense capabilities, these attacks were mere tickles. It even had the leisure to spit towards the ground.

Of course, this was no ordinary saliva...

A raging Dragon Flame erupted from Star’s mouth, instantly blanketing the ground. If the ranged attacks from below were like a torrential rain, then Star’s Dragon Flame was like a magnificent crimson waterfall.

The intense heat instantly vaporized a large number of Demon Fiends. This one-sided slaughter caused the Demon Group below Star to fall into disarray.

Seeing this, it grew excited.

No one wants a desperate struggle against an evenly matched opponent. Star, however, thoroughly enjoyed bullying these low-level cannon fodder.

What a waste of magic crystals, Star thought.

Then, urged by Wen Yu, Star spread its wings and flew further away.

Meanwhile, Wen Yu, standing on Star’s head, surveyed the Demon Tribe’s encirclement.

After a moment, Wen Yu smirked.

”It’s just so-so...”

Of course, Wen Yu made this judgment without having seen the ’big guy’ and the numerous Ancient Demons Star had mentioned.

And the next second, Wen Yu was promptly proven wrong by the Demon Tribe.

The direction Star had flown off in didn’t contain the ’big guy’ or large numbers of Ancient Demons.

However, this didn’t mean the Demon Tribe hadn’t prepared to intercept powerful experts of the Sequences in this direction. In fact, the powerful expert assigned to this sector was considered the linchpin of the Demon Tribe’s current battle plan.

His Demon Clan Army codename: Spider Demon Hunter!

As a demon spawn, he hadn’t joined the Sequence-class Hunting Group—after all, with the number of demon spawns in that group always under a hundred, only the absolute best were selected.

But this didn’t mean that demon spawns from the Demon Clan Army were weaker than those in the Hunting Group.

Their overall abilities might indeed be slightly weaker, but strength isn’t everything.

Many factors influence a battle’s outcome: environment, morale, reinforcements, and even on-the-spot performance.

And in this environment...

The Spider Demon Hunter looked up at the exuberant Star in mid-air. A cruel smile touched the corner of his mouth, and the killing intent in his three small eyes flared.

The next second, the Spider Demon Hunter retrieved the longbow from his back, and his figure slowly vanished.

He was like a venomous snake hiding in the dark.

And on this chaotic battlefield, the Spider Demon Hunter was utterly confident that no Level 5 creature could detect his presence!
