Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 440: Chapter 109: Take Action!

Before long, Chen Wen returned with water.

Seeing Feng Zhong’s vigilant appearance, he curiously asked, ”What’s going on?”

Hearing Chen Wen’s voice, Feng Zhong shivered and quickly said, ”Just now, I felt something was wandering around!”

Could it be Leopard the First?

Chen Wen thought, glanced around, and then said, ”There’s nothing here, maybe you felt it wrong?”

”I’ve been here for several days and haven’t seen any living things.”

Hearing this, Feng Zhong scratched his head, ”Maybe I’m just too tense.”

”By the way, I heard Jamie got eliminated, and it seems you hunted an elephant. Is that true?”

The conversation returned to the main topic as Feng Zhong looked at Chen Wen with intense curiosity.

”Yes, that’s true.”

Chen Wen nodded without avoiding the question.

Feng Zhong asked, ”What about the elephant?”

”It’s in the woods over there. Why, do you want to see it?”

Chen Wen smiled, ”There’s not much to see, and it’s severely decayed. A few days ago, some passing beasts gnawed on it quite a bit.”

”Let’s take a look, I haven’t seen a dead elephant before.”

Feng Zhong said, standing up.

Seeing this, Chen Wen didn’t object and directly took Feng Zhong to see the elephant’s carcass.

...

In the woods.

Seeing the huge elephant carcass, Feng Zhong was shocked.

He roughly measured it and made a shocking discovery.

This wasn’t the young elephant he imagined, or a wandering female elephant, but a fully grown male elephant!

Oh my god!

Feng Zhong felt like his worldview had taken a huge hit.

”How did you do it?”

Feng Zhong asked.

Chen Wen explained his tactics and humbly said, ”I relied on the fighting power of the hippo to hunt this elephant. Luck played a big part, too.”

These words made Feng Zhong nod continuously.

In his heart, he believed Chen Wen was indeed lucky.

After all, the elephant was already injured, and Chen Wen was lucky to have used a javelin to blind it, which led to barely killing it.

Thinking of this, Feng Zhong felt a bit jealous.

If only it had been him!

The fame, the prize money...

He took a deep breath and, against his feelings, said, ”Amazing! Congratulations.”

Chen Wen heard this, smiled, and didn’t respond.

Adults can often tell if the other person is sincere or not.

”So, let’s not procrastinate anymore?”

Feng Zhong said, ”I feel like I’ve mostly recovered. After resting at noon today, let’s go take out Adam and his partner. What do you think?”

Chen Wen nodded, ”Of course, we can.”

...

As noon arrived.

After a meal, Feng Zhong led the way, and Chen Wen followed as the two headed upstream along the river.

Unbeknownst to them, Adam and his partner were secretly following from afar.

And unbeknownst to them, Leopard the First was also quietly trailing behind.

Soon, night fell.

Feng Zhong took on the task of fetching water by the river, while Chen Wen tended to the fire at the camp.

Once Feng Zhong walked away, Chen Wen quickly patted Leopard the Second’s body, asking it to call its big brother.

After a few roars, Leopard the First arrived promptly from the dim thickets.

”Take this backpack of mine and hide nearby, but don’t go too far.”

Chen Wen took out his satellite phone and let Leopard the Second hold it in its mouth.

At the same time, he instructed Leopard the Second to tell Leopard the First to stay in the distant darkness tonight and not to move around.

Chen Wen planned for communicative Leopard the Second to hide with the satellite phone, while having Leopard the First masquerade as Leopard the Second.

He felt that tonight might be the night of conflict.

After all, it’s been a day. If they didn’t act, what’s the point of their alliance?

Leopard the Second nodded and immediately left.

Meanwhile, Leopard the First lay in the darkness far off from the campfire.

...

By the riverside.

”Tonight we take action!”

As Feng Zhong met with Adam and his partner while fetching water, he laid out his plan.

”Wait until Chen Wen is asleep, I’ll act directly, steal his satellite phone, and take his first life. You two block the west and east sides respectively. Once his first life is gone and he starts to flee, I’ll shout and abandon the elimination. Whoever’s closest to him can immediately take his second life!”

Feng Zhong spoke, and his expression suddenly grew a bit sinister, ”Also, be careful, the elephant Chen Wen hunted isn’t what we thought, but a full-grown male! Though injured, it’s still a male elephant!”

Adam and Rock took a sharp breath.

A full-grown male elephant?!

That’s just too much!

”Don’t make that face, he was just lucky!”

Feng Zhong snorted and continued, ”He killed it by relying on his beast-taming hippo and poisoning it beforehand. Physically, he’s average, so don’t back down later.”

Adam nodded, ”Don’t worry.”

After finalizing the plan, Feng Zhong returned with water to the temporary camp.

An attack targeting Chen Wen was silently underway!

...

After dinner, Feng Zhong volunteered for night watch.

This action further confirmed Chen Wen’s suspicions.

It seems they truly plan to act tonight!

He pretended to trust Feng Zhong, saying, ”Night watch is fine. With leopards around, you can rest.”

”No problem, no problem. Doesn’t the leopard need to hunt on its own? I noticed it hasn’t eaten much, let it go hunt.”

Feng Zhong said, glancing at the leopard.

For some reason, he always felt that the leopard over there had a strong aggressiveness.

Could it be that it gets more aggressive at night?

At this time, Chen Wen nodded and decided not to involve Leopard the First in the battle: ”Then I’ll let it out, be careful while on night watch.”

After speaking, Chen Wen patted the leopard’s side and let it leave the camp.

Watching the leopard leave, Feng Zhong finally felt relieved.

After some awkward conversation with Chen Wen, both harbored their thoughts and settled to rest.

Inside the camp, tensions were rising, while outside, currents were surging.

Adam and Rock had rested well by noon, and now they were lurking near the camp, ready to act at any moment.

...

The night deepened.

Feng Zhong leaned against the tree trunk, occasionally glancing at Chen Wen through the campfire.

He was assessing whether Chen Wen was truly asleep.

Chen Wen, lying by the campfire, breathed evenly and appeared relaxed, clearly deep in sleep.

The time was about right.

Feng Zhong estimated by the fire’s burn pattern that it should be around two in the morning.

This is when people sleep the deepest.

Also, the perfect time for an ambush!

Feng Zhong looked around; the leopard was not in sight.

It’s time!

He took a deep breath and slowly stood up.

Under the flickering fire, a shadowy figure slowly moved towards Chen Wen.

Chen Wen’s backpack was by his head.

Feng Zhong slowly reached out, touching the edge of the backpack, his eyes locked on Chen Wen’s eyes.

If Chen Wen showed any sign of movement, he’d abandon his plan to steal the phone.

Instead, he’d pounce on Chen Wen, restrain him, and call for Adam’s group for support.

But Chen Wen remained still, breathing steadily, and appearing relaxed.

Just like he was deeply asleep.

Seeing Chen Wen’s posture, Feng Zhong took action.

He slowly removed the backpack and gently unzipped it.

Amidst rustling noises, he opened the backpack.

To his surprise, the satellite phone wasn’t inside!

Instead, all he found was food!

How could this be?

I clearly saw Chen Wen put the satellite phone in the backpack!

Also, the show explicitly stated the satellite phone must not stray more than a kilometer from the contestant.

Meaning, apart from routine survival, the phone should only be left at the shelter.

At all other times, it should be kept with the contestant.

So where did the satellite phone go?!
