Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 435: Chapter 104: Jamie Concedes Defeat

Because of a bet.

Jamie decided to follow Chen Wen to take a look at the dead frenzied wanderer.

Lin Jiawei found it somewhat unbelievable.

Not only was it unbelievable that Jamie made such a suggestion, but also that Chen Wen agreed to it.

After all, it concerns survival, and every step forward means higher prize money.

Yet these two could decide victory or defeat just because of a bet.

At this time, the tribal guide who had been chatting with Lin Jiawei walked over.

Lin Jiawei took the opportunity to ask about the doubt in his heart.

After listening, the guide smiled and explained, ”Jamie is like this, he is a very curious person, and we also like to resolve conflicts through bets; I find it quite normal.”

”As for the money.”

The guide pointed to the Caprivi map hanging on the wall: ”The nearest town from here takes at least a morning to reach by car, so we have little chance to spend money.”

”Rather than vying for that insignificant prize money, it’s a better choice to experience what the frenzied wanderer is like.”

Lin Jiawei smiled upon hearing this.

He understood.

...

”How far is your shelter?”

Walking on the shore, Jamie glanced uncomfortably at the hippos in the water.

At this moment, the hippos are biting a rope with their mouths, controlling the speed of the canoe.

”More than a day’s journey, and besides, don’t be afraid of it, it has a good temper.”

Chen Wen noticed Jamie’s nervousness and comforted him.

Jamie nodded, looking at Chen Wen with some admiration: ”Honestly, taming a hippo is something I’ve only heard of in the tales passed down in the tribe.”

”You are the first person I’ve met in real life who has tamed a hippo. If you were from our tribe, you would definitely become a legend!”

Chen Wen laughed heartily.

If he had become one of Jamie’s tribe, he wouldn’t have had the current opportunities.

As they walked and chatted, the atmosphere was relatively harmonious.

As it got later and later, Chen Wen stopped with Jamie at Feng Zhong’s temporary camp.

”Let’s rest here today.”

Chen Wen said.

Jamie looked around, checked the surrounding vegetation, and then nodded in agreement.

”What are you looking at?”

Chen Wen asked curiously.

”Marks on tree trunks and the growth status of plants.”

Jamie explained a method passed down in the tribe to check the surroundings for the presence of beasts, which was quite enlightening for Chen Wen.

This topic opened up their conversation further.

While Chen Wen made a fire, he shared the knowledge he learned from Hua Yun about judging wild animals.

The two had a mental collision on finding animals.

Both gained something.

At dusk, Chen Wen and Jamie sat in front of the bonfire, discussing their reflections and understanding of survival.

They even elevated the discussion to philosophical levels, exploring how humans and animals should coexist.

This scene captivated the contestants, assistants, and crew.

”Is this what guys talk about?”

Jiang Chang asked Lin Jiawei while watching the two chatting enthusiastically and bursting out with laughter now and then.

With a reminiscent expression, Lin Jiawei swallowed the fried chicken in his mouth and said, ”It’s really like being back in the boys’ dormitory, from which girl is prettier to the five thousand years of Hua Country history to international affairs, talking about everything after lights out.”

”Exactly!”

Finishing that, Lin Jiawei took another bite of fried chicken.

This was food Jiang Chang brought back from a nearby city to improve his diet.

”Tsk tsk, you guys really can talk.”

Jiang Chang exclaimed.

Elsewhere.

Abel watched and made a decision to definitely edit this segment into the main cut.

...

A session of talking made the relationship between Chen Wen and Jamie more harmonious.

Their views on animals were also quite consistent.

As for Chen Wen, Jamie was now very impressed.

If Chen Wen had really hunted the African elephant alone, he might as well surrender.

The two ate dinner and then went to sleep separately.

The leopard brothers acted as night guards, lying next to Chen Wen to guard against other creatures intruding or against Jamie across the bonfire.

Jamie had no intention to attack or escape in the night.

Just like that, they made it safely to the next day.

Chen Wen continued to lead the way and returned with Jamie to the previous shelter.

Upon seeing the repaired shelter by Chen Wen, Jamie once again expressed admiration for Chen Wen’s survival skills.

When Chen Wen took Jamie to where the elephant died.

Jamie was completely stunned.

He carefully examined the wounds on the elephant, finding no injuries caused by firearms apart from where the leopard brothers had gnawed.

”Did you really take it down?”

It’s not that Jamie didn’t believe it, but it felt unbelievable.

Chen Wen nodded: ”But it wasn’t entirely my own effort; I first combined cassava and belladonna in acacia branches to poison the elephant, then used the hippo and leopard to delay and wound it.”

”Then I jumped from a tree here onto the elephant’s back, severely wounding its rear neck with a long spear; the hippo then used its tusks to disable a hind leg, and finally knocked over the elephant, giving me the opportunity to tear open an existing wound with an axe to bring it down, and lastly, I used the long spear to kill.”

Listening to Chen Wen’s simple recount of the situation back then, Jamie fully believed him.

Because if you hadn’t personally fought the elephant, you couldn’t possibly describe such detailed circumstances.

Moreover, Jamie could make a simple judgment about Chen Wen’s account from the elephant’s wounds.

The wounds perfectly matched Chen Wen’s description!

Without a doubt, it was Chen Wen who killed this elephant!

Jamie conceded defeat gracefully and took out his satellite phone.

”You win, I really couldn’t imagine, that someone could lead two leopards and a hippo to kill an African elephant!”

Seeing Chen Wen did not reach out to take it, Jamie directly placed the satellite phone into Chen Wen’s hand: ”I believe you will become the champion this time, and you will always be a champion in survival!”

”According to the outside saying, I am now your loyal fan, looking forward to your future performance!”

Holding the satellite phone, Chen Wen didn’t quite know what to say.

He smiled and said, ”I will not let down the expectations of any fan.”

Saying this, Chen Wen dialed the phone, officially eliminating Jamie.

Jamie’s dark face showed a smile: ”Go for it!”

...

Jamie was eliminated by Chen Wen.

This news, along with Jamie’s final words, reached the remaining three contestants’ ears.

Jamie’s final words were simple, but they made the remaining three cautious.

[I think let’s congratulate Chen Wen in advance for winning the championship since he is the first person I have seen to successfully hunt an elephant solo]

Listening to the last words, Feng Zhong’s expression shifted unpredictably.

What does Jamie mean?

Is he intentionally messing with our minds?

Or did Chen Wen really achieve solo hunting of an elephant?

Either way, it’s quite tricky!

But one thing is certain: Chen Wen demonstrated incredible skills in front of Jamie.

Otherwise, Jamie would not submit so readily!

Feng Zhong thought so.

...

Both Adam and Rock were very surprised upon receiving this news.

”Hunting an elephant? Do you think it’s true?”

”Highly likely to be true.”

Adam’s expression was serious: ”But it must not have been a solo hunt, his animals must have participated, and it certainly couldn’t have been a bull elephant; I suspect it was a lone cow elephant.”

Rock’s expression was a bit grim: ”Even if it’s a cow elephant, it’s not something an average person can do!”

”So what do we do now?”
