Chapter 424: Chapter 93: The Hippo’s Discovery

Adam and his partner do not plan to delay; for the sake of a top-three spot, they intend to keep the elimination going.

Jamie plans to look for allies.

Feng Zhong is waiting for news of Jamie’s elimination.

Chen Wen is eating his barbecued springbok leg.

The slightly charred springbok leg doesn’t look great, but it tastes quite good.

As Chen Wen bites off the burnt outer layer, the tender white springbok meat is revealed.

After sprinkling on the remaining few seasonings, one bite, although a bit dry and tough, the flavor is on point.

Taking big bites of meat, choosing entries.

The entry for the springbok is not bad.

[Green Onion Jump (Purple): Your standing high jump ability is enhanced, allowing you to quickly leap higher and farther on the spot.]

[Note: Let me show you what a real Green Onion Jump is!—Springbok]

After choosing the entry, Chen Wen lies down in the shelter for a short rest.

Not far from him, by the Kuanduo River.

A hippo soaking in the water suddenly makes an unexpected discovery.

The hippo, as usual, drifts leisurely with the current in this part of the water.

When about to be swept downstream, it uses its energy to move from downstream back upstream.

This is also one of the hippo’s entertainment activities.

However, just as the hippo returns upstream and raises its nose for a breath,

it suddenly smells a familiar scent.

The hippo opens its eyes and sees a large figure approaching not far in front of it.

Elephant!

The hippo immediately becomes alert and instinctively flees away from the elephant.

But after fleeing about ten meters, it stops.

The elephant does not pursue.

Although elephants have certain emotions and memory, they cannot match the hippo in wisdom to remember the animal from last night.

Thus, the elephant regards the hippo as an ordinary hippo.

And therefore, does not pursue.

The hippo stays in the water, cautiously observing every move of the elephant.

This elephant seems to be thirsty.

It walks into the water, letting the river submerge its body, then uses its trunk to drink continuously.

After drinking enough, it slowly lifts its head, glances at the hippo, and leisurely walks toward the shore.

After coming ashore,

the elephant heads towards the woods, clearly still holding a strong hostility towards Chen Wen.

After a few hours or so,

by evening, the elephant comes back to the river to drink water again.

The hippo takes note of this and plans to tell Chen Wen about it at night.

...

Soon, night falls.

Chen Wen has already packed up his supplies, ready to relocate at any time.

He is about to speak to the hippo about being ready for relocation when, unexpectedly, the hippo arrives.

Before Chen Wen can speak, the hippo suddenly says, ”Human, I have something important to tell you!”

”Go ahead.”

Chen Wen does not rush to tell the hippo about the relocation.

Instead, he listens as the hippo recounts the two afternoon encounters with the elephant drinking water.

”Looks like this guy won’t give up easily and plans to continue attacking us.”

Chen Wen says helplessly, ”That’s why I intended to tell you that I plan to relocate.”

The hippo hesitates for a moment and says, ”Human, I think we might actually try to drive the elephant away.”

Drive away the elephant?

Chen Wen frowns.

He had considered this before, but driving away an elephant is indeed difficult.

Not to mention, currently, the only one among Chen Wen and the three animals that can take a hit from the elephant is the hippo.

But taking one hit alone is far from enough.

Unless they use external means to weaken the elephant’s combat power.

How to weaken it?

Traps?

Poisoning?

Chen Wen taps his forehead, looking somewhat surprised at the hippo.

Could it be that this guy told him about the elephant’s watering spot to suggest setting up a trap?

But seeing the hippo’s confused look, Chen Wen feels it’s unlikely.

”Hang on, let me ask around and see if this elephant can be hunted.”

Chen Wen signals the hippo to stay calm.

He takes out a satellite phone and contacts the show crew.

Moments later, Chen Wen receives a definitive answer.

”It can be killed, and the local government even offers a reward. Whoever kills this elephant can not only obtain its tusks but also receive about five hundred US dollars in reward.”

The reward and tusks are just details.

Upon learning that the elephant can be hunted, a bold idea forms in Chen Wen’s mind.

Attempt to hunt this elephant!

This elephant not only poses a threat to him but is also a great threat to the tribal people living on this land.

Killing it.

Would bring countless benefits without a single harm.

Also, the elephant’s entry, Chen Wen has some ideas.

However, he still doesn’t have a concrete plan on how to hunt this elephant.

Currently, Chen Wen’s only thought is to set traps and poison at the elephant’s drinking spot.

Using these methods to weaken the elephant’s fighting ability.

Then have the largest hippo confront the elephant, the two leopards side-swim to harass, and he himself seizes the opportunity for a one-hit kill using hidden entries!

But saying it is easy, doing it is difficult.

Even just weakening the elephant’s combat power is very challenging.

To say nothing of the traps, which have very little effect on an elephant.

Because of its massive size and Thick Skin, regular traps don’t affect it at all.

As for poisoning,

that’s at the level of hell difficulty.

Finding a toxin potent enough to affect an elephant is really difficult.

Watching the burning campfire, Chen Wen gradually relaxes himself, pondering the plan.

Not long after, the leopard brothers also return.

They walk to a tree far from the campfire and start resting.

Just then, Chen Wen slaps his thigh, startling the three animals.

When the three animals look towards the source of the sound, Chen Wen is already excitedly standing up.

Who would’ve thought, there really is a chance to hunt this elephant!

Traps, I can use the wooden spears and caltrops I collected earlier to make traps.

As for poisoning, I can definitely use the belladonna and cassava I discovered earlier!

Belladonna, the toxins in its berries are minimal.

The real toxins of belladonna are in its roots, stems, and leaves.

Additionally, cassava contains a substantial amount of toxins in its outer skin and stems and leaves as well.

If these things can be ingested by the elephant or applied to the caltrops and spears, they would definitely affect the elephant!

Therefore, after a brief consideration, Chen Wen announces his decision facing the camera.

”I do not plan to relocate anymore!”

Chen Wen’s eyes are very determined: ”I want to try hunting the elephant!”

With these words.

Lin Jiawei, who was already sleepy and planning to end his shift, suddenly becomes alert.

He feels a chill rise from his tailbone, rushing up his spine and spreading through his whole body.

No way?

What’s going on?

Hunting an African elephant?

And a mature one?

Am I not fully awake, or did Chen Wen just fall asleep?

Even Abel, who was eagerly anticipating the show effect, was stunned.

He immediately called Chen Wen to ask about the situation.

...

In response to Abel’s inquiry, Chen Wen simply said four words: ”I am confident.”

This statement eased Abel’s anxious heart a bit.

He wanted to ask Chen Wen what the plan was.

But upon hearing Chen Wen’s simple outline of his strategy, Abel’s heart tensed again.

He sternly warns Chen Wen: ”African elephants are not as foolish as you think. Their noses are very sensitive and can distinguish poisonous smells to avoid ingestion.”

”Using poison is very difficult!”

Hearing this, Chen Wen replied: ”Difficult does not mean impossible. Don’t worry, I’m just making an attempt near the water point. If it doesn’t work, I’ll immediately ride the hippo to flee.”

”In the water, it’s almost impossible for an elephant to catch a hippo.”
