Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 432: Chapter 101: Finding Jamie

”This should be Feng Zhong’s former campsite.”

After a simple analysis of the campsite’s construction style, Chen Wen confirmed that this was a place where Feng Zhong had once stayed.

However, based on the state of the campfire and the living garbage around the campsite,

Chen Wen made a judgment: ”Feng Zhong only stayed here for one night. This is just a temporary shelter. He left here several days ago.”

”You can tell this from the remnants of the campfire. Look at the pile of ash here; there’s very little of it. Generally speaking, in a place where someone has lived for a long time, the ash would accumulate quite thickly. For example, in the place where I lived before, if I hadn’t cleaned it up later, the ash might have been several centimeters deep.”

”But here, the ash is scant, so the survival time wasn’t long.”

”And then there’s the living garbage. Whether it’s discarded fruit shells or bones, they’re all very dry, and their level of dryness is very similar, combined with the fact there’s not much of it overall. This indicates that not only did Feng Zhong stay here for a short time, he also left quite quickly.”

”It seems he went to find Adam and Rock, and there’s Jamie too. But after the conflict, Jamie must have fled far away.”

Chen Wen shared his speculations.

His guess about Feng Zhong was quite accurate.

Feng Zhong’s assistant was somewhat suspicious now, wondering if Chen Wen had been secretly following them.

Otherwise, how could he be so accurate in his judgment?

After confirming the safety of this temporary camp, Chen Wen decided to rest here for a brief night.

He cleaned up the campsite and let the leopard brothers roam freely.

At the same time, he informed the hippo of this news.

Then he began gathering firewood, living, boiling water, and cooking.

After a busy night, Chen Wen slipped into Feng Zhong’s temporary shelter to rest.

...

At Adam and Rock’s side,

they were doing the same thing as Chen Wen.

The two had been tracking Jamie all the way but had lost his trail.

However, in the afternoon, they discovered new survival traces.

After assessing the survival traces, they deduced these were left by a new survivor.

Therefore, they remained extremely vigilant.

They didn’t know that the survival traces here were left by the already eliminated Vanessa.

And the closest to them was Feng Zhong heading west.

The distance between them was just two days’ journey.

If they traveled simultaneously, they could encounter each other within a day.

...

On Feng Zhong’s side, he was unaware that he had passed by Jamie.

At this moment, Feng Zhong was also hesitating whether to continue forward.

After all, the current situation was somewhat unclear.

Jamie hadn’t been eliminated for so long.

Could it be that those three had joined forces?

That was Feng Zhong’s thought.

Little did he know, for Adam, this time he was aiming for the top three.

Eliminating Jamie would secure his top three position.

After all, Rock was brought in as his muscle, and Rock could eliminate himself anytime to ensure Adam’s top three ranking.

Therefore, for Adam, the least likely person to cooperate with was Jamie.

”No matter what, I’ll walk another day tomorrow. If I don’t find Jamie, I’ll find a place to hide!”

Feng Zhong made up his mind.

...

One night passed.

After packing up, Chen Wen set out again.

Leopard the Second cleared the path, Leopard the First guarded the rear, and the hippo took the water route.

This peculiar team’s combat strength was formidable, and most beasts didn’t want to provoke them.

In the morning, a pack of hyenas spotted Chen Wen’s group from afar.

But as soon as the hippo came ashore and stood alongside the two leopards,

the restless hyenas turned away and fled without looking back.

Additionally, nearing noon,

Leopard the Second caught the scent of baboons.

The two brothers decided to briefly leave the group and feast.

Leopard the Second even thought of bringing back some food for Chen Wen.

But Chen Wen refused it.

He had no intention of taking from primates.

His conscience couldn’t handle it.

The best option was to extract.

By midday, during their rest, the two leopards had caught up.

Seeing their cheeks stained with fresh blood, Chen Wen could easily guess that the baboon troop had suffered significant losses against the cooperative leopard brothers.

After eating, they continued onward.

But it wasn’t long before Chen Wen noticed something amiss.

”Stop.”

Chen Wen halted the leopard brothers.

He quickly moved to the riverside, inspecting a patch of mud carefully.

”These are human footprints, identical to the shoes provided by the show, which means a survivor is nearby.”

Gazing at the clear footprints, Chen Wen concluded.

Upon hearing this, Leopard the Second curiously sniffed the air, then told Chen Wen, ”I smell a lingering scent of blood.”

Blood scent?

Chen Wen surveyed the surroundings, stood up, and began searching the vicinity.

Before long, he jumped into the river, slowly retrieving some unknown animal entrails.

”Someone must have slaughtered an animal here recently. Judging by the state of these entrails, it hasn’t been long.”

”It could be a few hours at the shortest, or as long as three to four days.”

Chen Wen discarded the entrails and walked onto the riverbank.

He gathered the leopard brothers and said, ”Search the nearby forest. If you find a human, someone who looks similar to me, come back and tell me.”

”Also, don’t actively attack the person. They might be armed, and it wouldn’t be good for either of you to get hurt.”

He instructed Leopard the Second, who then roughly conveyed Chen Wen’s message to Leopard the First.

With that, the two leopards swiftly dove into the surrounding woods.

Meanwhile, Chen Wen busied himself.

He was preparing weapons and equipment, planning to follow the leopard brothers for a possible encounter with the nearby survivor.

After preparing his weapons, Chen Wen let the hippo rest.

He then took his weapons and quickly chased into the woods where the leopard brothers had disappeared.

...

Within the surrounding woods, the leopard brothers caught a unique aroma.

The scent was familiar to Leopard the Second.

It recalled that prior to eating, Chen Wen’s food often carried this aroma.

Chen Wen had once called this smell... a burnt aroma!

Yes, a burnt aroma!

It seemed Chen Wen’s kind was present here.

As Leopard the Second contemplated this, it exhaled a series of heavy breaths from its nose.

This was a signal to Leopard the First to proceed with caution.

However, Leopard the First, being the elder brother, didn’t heed his younger sibling.

Recklessly following the scent, he pushed through the shrubbery.

Leopard the Second became anxious.

Emitting low roars, it had no choice but to follow its elder brother ahead.

Behind them,

upon hearing the leopards’ calls, Chen Wen immediately headed toward the sound.

...

At Jamie’s temporary camp,

the aroma of snake meat on the stick made Jamie involuntarily swallow.

Roasting snake meat, it was quite a good meal in the wilderness!

The freshly roasted snake meat emitted a slight burnt aroma. Despite its mediocre appearance, it was undoubtedly edible.

Just as he opened his mouth, intending to taste the snake meat,

the rustling sound of leaves from the surrounding bushes became increasingly clear.

Jamie suddenly became alert.

He quickly picked up his flint spear, placed the roasted snake meat aside, and leaned against a large tree.

If he could handle whatever was coming, he’d have a feast.

If he couldn’t, he’d climb the tree.

This was the bushman’s survival law in the wilderness.

Jamie stared tensely at a particular shrub, from where the sound was emanating.

As the shrub started shaking, Jamie’s heart leapt to his throat.

In the next moment, a head slowly pushed through the underbrush.

Jamie’s heart sank immediately, and a trace of fear involuntarily appeared in his eyes.

It’s a leopard!
