Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 426: Chapter 95: The Plan Succeeds, the Hunt Begins!

Ate it!

Chen Wen’s heart pounded as he watched the scene.

As long as it eats it, there’s a chance to poison the elephant!

The elephant didn’t realize the cassava and belladonna mixed in with the acacia.

After eating for a while, it paused for a moment, drank some water, then turned around to continue eating.

About half an hour later, two-thirds of the poisoned food Chen Wen prepared for the elephant had been consumed.

The belladonna was mostly left.

The elephant ate quite a lot of the cassava, leaving only some slender twigs.

However, the amount of cassava eaten was just a drop in the ocean for such a large creature.

I hope the toxins in the cassava roots are potent enough to bring this guy down!

Chen Wen thought silently, waiting for the toxins to take effect.

As time passed, the elephant finished eating and entered the Kuanduo River, intending to take a bath.

The elephant showed no signs of poisoning, so Chen Wen could only continue to wait.

...

”Is this poison effective?”

Looking at the unharmed elephant on the screen, Abel couldn’t help but ask the guide beside him.

The guide shook his head, indicating that he didn’t know either.

He recalled that in the tribe, they occasionally organized hunters to hunt the adult male elephants wandering around the tribe.

But it was different from Chen Wen’s poisoning method.

The tribesmen preferred to stab elephants with long spears.

Generally, elite hunters would lure elephants into dense forests, using the terrain to weaken their combat power.

Other hunters would hide behind cover and throw long spears at the elephants.

Exhaust their strength and make them become tired.

As more spears were thrown, the elephants would become more and more exhausted and weakened due to blood loss.

When the elephants couldn’t bear their weight and collapsed with a crash,

it was the tribesmen’s chance.

They would swarm in and deal the fatal blow.

So they weren’t sure if cassava could poison an elephant.

However, the staff beside them brought over an analysis report provided by the show’s consultants.

”The consultants consulted with an elephant research institution, which stated that the linamarin in cassava hydrolyzes to produce toxic hydrogen cyanide. Cyanide, as a potent neurotoxin, can damage the respiratory and circulatory systems of elephants if the dose is sufficient.”

”But they aren’t sure about the required dose either.”

Upon hearing this, Abel grabbed the report and read it carefully.

”So, as long as the dose is sufficient, cassava can even directly poison an elephant?”

”Yes.”

The assistant nodded.

”I feel that it would take a lot for this to work. Given the amount of cassava Chen Wen prepared, it’s impressive if it even causes a reaction, let alone poisons it.”

”Let me see, if an elephant is poisoned, possible symptoms include difficulty breathing, dizziness, nausea, and coma. With a high enough intake, it may even experience shock or death.”

”It seems unrealistic to rely on poison to weaken an elephant’s combat power.”

Abel put down the report, shook his head, and focused on the screen.

...

Back to Chen Wen.

As the elephant entered the Kuanduo River to drink and bathe, he couldn’t help but doubt the effectiveness of the cassava toxins.

”Could it be that elephants have an antibody against this? That shouldn’t be!”

Chen Wen vaguely remembered that cassava is a neurotoxin.

Most mammals don’t have antibodies to this type of neurotoxin.

But just as Chen Wen was feeling frustrated,

a hippo in the water noticed something unusual about the elephant not far away.

The African elephant appeared like a drunken man from a hangover, using its trunk to suck up water and pour it into its mouth.

It also seemed to become more irritable.

Previously, the distance between the hippo and it was safe, but after the elephant gulped down water, it stood up again and issued a sound to drive away the hippo.

Knowing it couldn’t provoke this giant creature in front of it, the hippo quickly ran away.

The elephant didn’t give chase, continuing to gulp down water.

Upon seeing the suddenly unusual elephant, Chen Wen felt a surge of emotion.

This is exactly the symptom of belladonna poisoning, isn’t it?

Thirst, heat, irritability!

It’s poisoned!

However, looking at the elephant, Chen Wen didn’t dare to go out.

This belladonna poison didn’t seem to weaken the elephant’s power, but instead appeared to have made it more dangerous!

Seeing the current state of the elephant, Chen Wen felt that only a brave man would dare provoke it!

It’s a bit tricky; the cassava poison seems ineffective, while the belladonna poison seems to act like a stimulant for the elephant.

Chen Wen scratched his head, feeling like he had overreached.

But before Chen Wen could think further,

a new anomaly appeared on the elephant in the water.

The elephant seemed to want to roar, but its voice had become weak and feeble.

”Human, did you hear that?”

Leopard the Second said, ”Its voice seems to have weakened a lot.”

Chen Wen nodded, naturally, he heard it too.

Could this be the effect of cassava poisoning?

While Chen Wen was considering whether to go out for a look,

the elephant in the water seemed to trip over something, stumbling as it moved ashore.

This made Chen Wen widen his eyes.

It’s really showing signs of poisoning!

The elephant staggered onto the shore, angrily trumpeting at the surroundings.

It felt something amiss with its body.

And this discomfort was becoming increasingly intense!

Instinctively, the elephant wanted to find a safe place to stay.

But on this prairie, unless guarded by a herd of elephants, nowhere could be considered safe.

It looked around, planning to retreat into the woods.

But after a few steps, it suddenly felt dizzy, and its gait became clumsy.

...

”Get ready!”

Chen Wen took a deep breath, grabbing the long spear and axe.

He sensed an opportunity!

The elephant’s steps were already chaotic, now was the best time to attack!

Leopard the Second growled lowly, while Leopard the First beside it showed a fierce light.

Despite their fear of the elephant,

they were confident with Chen Wen—who had helped them successfully hunt antelopes—being there.

Chen Wen emerged from his hiding spot, shouting loudly towards the riverbank.

The hippo, hearing the commotion, also emerged from the water, no longer hiding.

With one man, one hippo, and two leopards fighting side by side, they launched a charge at the African elephant!

This scene made Abel’s pores stand on end.

”This scene has to be the cover! Cameraman! Control the drone well! If you miss a single shot, you’re fired!”

With Abel’s shout, the hunt officially began!

...

The African elephant immediately sensed something was wrong behind it.

It turned around, seeing the charging hippo and two leopards.

The African elephant let out a fierce cry, facing the hippo.

In its perception, only the hippo posed a threat to it.

As for the two leopards, the African elephant didn’t even care about them.

The African elephant pushed aside the branches blocking it and walked out of the forest.

It let out roaring cries, charging at the hippo.

Despite feeling dizzy, the African elephant remained fearless.

”Escape! Don’t meet it head-on!”

Having just used the skill [Hide], Chen Wen couldn’t help revealing himself.

He didn’t want the hippo to face the African elephant head-on.

The risk was too great!

The hippo, hearing Chen Wen’s command, didn’t have time to think and suddenly changed direction, fleeing to the side.

The African elephant didn’t pursue the hippo.

The hippo could hear Chen Wen’s shout; naturally, the African elephant heard it clearer.

It slowly turned, its fierce eyes gradually locking onto Chen Wen.

As a harsh elephant roar sounded, Chen Wen couldn’t help but swallow,

thinking that no one would believe him if he said this, but he was currently facing the strongest land animal directly!

Chen Wen hesitated no more.
