Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 422: Chapter 91: [Intimidation] Expulsion

In all tribes led by a chief, members of the tribe mostly show absolute obedience to the chief.

Because social animals cannot be isolated for long, as isolation often means danger and death.

To avoid being expelled by the chief, they choose to obey the chief driven by their instincts.

This can be observed in everyday life through herds of sheep.

When shepherds herd sheep, they only control the lead sheep; the other members of the flock, even without a leash, do not run away.

Instead, they follow the lead sheep, staying around the shepherd.

They move forward with the shepherd’s intentions.

Springboks are somewhat similar to sheep.

Chen Wen thought for a moment and decided to use the shepherd’s method to drive the springboks.

As Chen Wen approached, the springboks began to notice his presence and reacted.

The outer springboks suddenly stopped their current actions and looked at Chen Wen motionlessly.

Chen Wen looked at these motionless springboks and had the impulse to throw a javelin at them.

But this distance was somewhat far, impacting the power and accuracy of the javelin greatly.

Therefore, Chen Wen abandoned the idea of long-range hunting of springboks.

He began to hit the ground with his long spear, making noises to drive them away.

The springbok herd reacted upon hearing the sound.

They watched as Chen Wen approached and began to slowly retreat.

Chen Wen’s eyes remained fixed on the springbok that seemed to be the leader.

And, according to the leader springbok’s movement path, he maneuvered left and right, directing the herd towards the forest as much as possible.

Seeing this scene, Leopard the Second was somewhat surprised.

The human really managed to do it!

He actually drove the springboks over!

While excited, Leopard the Second also prepared for the attack.

As the true master of ”tree ambush,” leopards have a very high success rate when attacking prey from the trees!

Prey knocked down by them, without other help, would mostly be slowly bitten to death by the leopards.

The springbok, being a medium-small sized antelope, was certain death if knocked down!

In other words, as long as Chen Wen could drive the springboks in, the leopard brothers would definitely have a harvest!

...

As the springbok herd got closer and closer to the forest.

The expression on Chen Wen’s face became more relaxed. He was well aware of the leopards’ capabilities.

But just when they were about twenty meters from the forest.

The leading springbok suddenly turned left without any warning.

The following springboks also turned the same way without any warning and followed.

Chen Wen stopped, his eyes filled with a thoughtful expression.

After a moment, he slapped his thigh: ”Damn, did these springboks learn military strategy? Even avoiding entering the forest?”

Of course, it was a joke.

Watching the springbok herd, Chen Wen began to correct their path.

He moved towards the left front and applied pressure to the springboks through sound.

This time, the springboks did not revert to the correct direction under Chen Wen’s pressure as before.

Instead, they accelerated and continued running.

Seeing this, Chen Wen abandoned the drive.

This driving attempt ended in failure.

...

”Failed, right?”

”Yes, it failed.”

”It failed miserably.”

The program team, composed of three survivors, all said.

In their view, Chen Wen’s hunting or driving action this time was a complete failure.

...

As Chen Wen retreated, the speed of the springboks also slowed down.

They stopped outside the forest, roughly more than a hundred meters away from the leopards’ ambush point.

After retreating to a safe distance.

Chen Wen frowned, looking a bit frustrated at the springbok herd.

Where exactly did my method go wrong?

Could it be that there’s really a gene in the springboks that resists the forest?

If so, the plan to drive them would be troublesome.

Unless they make a mistake in panic and enter the forest...

Wait, a mistake!

Chen Wen seemed to suddenly remember something.

He opened the system and glanced at one of the entries.

[Intimidation (Golden): Actively staring at creatures and intelligent beings weaker than you in combat will produce an intimidation effect, making them more fearful of being your enemy. When attacking intimidated creatures, the opponents frequently make mistakes due to fear]

This entry from Northeast Tiger Da Ju had the characteristic of causing animals to make mistakes.

”Why not give it a try?”

Chen Wen looked at the springbok group, now it had quieted down.

Give it a try!

Chen Wen stood up again, approaching the springboks from the side.

This time, without hiding himself, he directly activated [Intimidation], staring at the springbok leader.

The originally relaxed, foraging springbok leader immediately felt uncomfortable after sensing Chen Wen’s gaze.

It felt like a very dangerous creature was watching it from the shadows.

The springbok leader immediately panicked.

It couldn’t stand still, nor could it lie down.

It looked around, finally feeling the source of this sensation was the two-legged beast!

The springbok uttered deep calls.

It subconsciously moved further away from Chen Wen.

The surrounding springboks were somewhat puzzled.

What happened to their leader?

Despite the confusion, they still followed their leader.

Seeing this scene, Chen Wen inwardly acknowledged its effectiveness, then immediately followed.

Like a stalker following a schoolgirl, the springbok leader became more flustered as it walked, its steps losing the previous stability.

There was even some stumbling.

It dared not accelerate.

Because it feared that if it did, the dangerous creature behind would stop hiding and charge right at them.

Thus, it chose to move slowly, maintaining the status quo.

It subconsciously looked for something to block Chen Wen’s view.

The nearest forest was certainly the most suitable place.

The panicked and disoriented springbok leader under [Intimidation] rushed into the forest.

The following springboks hesitated and delayed, but as the second springbok moved, all the springboks followed their leader inside.

Chen Wen stopped, a smile appearing on his face.

Because the place the springboks entered was where the leopard brothers lay in ambush!

...

Three minutes ago, Leopard the Second, upon seeing Chen Wen’s first drive fail, was somewhat disappointed.

But now, three minutes later, its emotions were filled with excitement and elation!

Humans!

Indeed powerful!

Leopard the Second let out a slight nasal sound, and soon, Leopard the First responded in the same way.

They were both ready for the attack!

As the sound of springboks’ footsteps came from beneath the tree, the leopard brothers pinpointed their targets by sound and through the gaps in the leaves.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Accompanied by the rustling sound of leaves, the two leopards almost simultaneously jumped down from the tree.

Their movements were so similar, akin to a dangerous wanderer driver training video being leaked.

The two leopards stretched their bodies in midair, adjusting their posture.

The springbok herd below had no opportunity to react to the ambush from above.

As the muscular Leopard the First slammed down on a large adult springbok from behind, after knocking down another one, Leopard the Second did the same.

The springbok herd was completely thrown into chaos.

The remaining springboks panicked and jumped up, like fish being netted onto a fishing boat.

They scattered and fled in chaos.

But the two knocked down springboks were unlucky.

Leopard the First used its strong body to suppress the springbok and instinctively bit its throat.

By choking its throat, it achieved the effect of suffocation.

The springbok struggled, but it was futile.

Finally, after its four legs kicked a few more times, the springbok completely lost the chance to escape.

And after gaining intelligence, Leopard the Second had become smarter.

Although it also used the method of suppressing prey, it tore through the throat, directly breaking the springbok’s windpipe, causing it to die from rapid bleeding and suffocation.
