Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 412: Chapter 81: The Pillar of Smoke

With Feng Zhong leaving, the leopard also stopped pretending.

Chen Wen reached out his hand and rubbed the leopard’s head, indicating that the leopard had officially accepted his trust.

Next, Chen Wen took out Brad’s prepared clothes.

These clothes were really useful!

He tore the clothes into strips, soaked them in water, and slightly cleaned the skin around the leopard’s wound, then roughly bandaged it.

This was considered a simple treatment for the leopard.

Finally, after Feng Zhong who was waiting outside for more than ten minutes returned, the two continued on their way.

However, following them was a limping Leopard the Second.

Originally, Chen Wen thought about carrying it, or putting it on the boat.

But Leopard the Second indicated that walking by itself was no problem.

Because it felt that its wound had healed a lot, and currently, walking was not an issue.

Seeing Leopard the Second’s insistence, Chen Wen didn’t say much, just slowed down his walking speed, letting Leopard the Second follow leisurely.

And so, the group continued forward.

By noon, Chen Wen checked their position, and they hadn’t yet reached the hill where Yoshikawa Feng had once survived.

This time, the pace was indeed much slower.

”Let’s have lunch first.”

Considering the leopard’s condition.

Chen Wen stopped, pointed to the shade of a tree not far away and said, ”It’s still some distance to where we eliminated Yoshikawa Feng; we can’t get there by noon. It’s more appropriate to walk again in the afternoon.”

Feng Zhong hesitated, wanting to cover more ground.

But seeing Chen Wen heading towards the river and starting to take out food, he didn’t say much.

The hippopotamus had its ropes untied by Chen Wen and ate some food Chen Wen brought.

Seizing this time to rest for a while.

Back under the shade, Chen Wen fed the leopard some food.

The portion was far from the leopard’s regular meal, merely a snack.

The leopard told Chen Wen it would eat at night.

And its big brother, Leopard the First, was also always following behind them.

At night, they would go hunting together.

How reassuring!

Chen Wen thought.

After eating, under the pretense of a nap, Chen Wen rested under the tree’s shade.

This time Feng Zhong did not object.

In the wild, the quality of sleep for survivors is often mediocre.

Without a daytime nap, the afternoon would be unbearable.

Therefore, the group began to rest under the shade; the hippopotamus basked in the water semi-dozing, while the leopard also lounged beside Chen Wen, entering a dreamland.

With Chen Wen and Feng Zhong entering a leisurely nap time.

Lin Jiawei wandered around the monitoring screens of other contestants.

But when he came to Ivan’s side and saw Ivan’s assistant looking uneasy, Lin Jiawei, curious, came closer.

”No need to watch.”

Ivan’s assistant said dejectedly, ”Ivan stopped where Yoshikawa Feng once survived and is processing the twisted-horned impala hunted this morning.”

Lin Jiawei was taken aback: ”Isn’t this a good thing?”

”Good thing?”

Ivan’s assistant looked at Lin Jiawei as if he was a fool: ”Look at the route Chen Wen and Feng Zhong took, it perfectly overlaps with Ivan’s survival area.”

Lin Jiawei examined it closely, clicking his tongue.

Ivan didn’t enter the hill’s interior but was processing the twisted-horned impala at the hill’s edge.

He shot a female twisted-horned impala, relatively small, vastly different from the adult male Chen Wen encountered.

As for the twisted-horned impala, Ivan’s method was to smoke the meat.

He had already set up a smoker and was arranging meat strips to smoke.

Smoking by the woods, fully prepared.

”Looks like we’ll see Ivan back tonight.”

Nearby, Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant said cheerfully.

Since Yoshikawa Feng returned, he had been diligently researching survival materials in his room.

With nothing else to do, Yoshikawa Feng had entrusted his assistant to observe the survival situation of other contestants.

Especially that of Chen Wen.

Ivan’s assistant’s face darkened, clearly displeased.

But he said nothing, as Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant was correct.

Ivan was doomed.

...

”So, is there someone over there?”

Watching a column of smoke rise into the sky, Chen Wen felt a bit annoyed.

He had just left Yoshikawa Feng’s place, and someone had gone there again?

Darn it, if he had waited a couple more days, maybe he could have eliminated another!

Chen Wen thought.

However, unlike the somewhat annoyed Chen Wen, Feng Zhong seemed extremely excited.

He gazed toward the direction of the rising smoke and said, ”Not far, just nearby. Let’s go take a look. If it’s a survivor, eliminate them directly; if it’s a local, trade some supplies.”

Chen Wen nodded, agreeing with Feng Zhong’s plan.

Feng Zhong seemed like he had taken a stimulant, standing up immediately.

He quickly organized the supplies, gripping the long spear horizontally, and moved with a swift, aggressive stride.

Chen Wen followed.

But before leaving, he whispered a reminder to the leopard, telling it to follow the hippopotamus slowly.

The leopard agreed on the surface, but internally it decided to follow Chen Wen.

Because it sensed from Chen Wen’s words that he seemed to be preparing to fight with another survivor.

Leopard the Second felt that as a brother, it couldn’t just stand by idly.

Therefore, after Chen Wen hurriedly left, it quietly sped up, following along.

...

Meanwhile, at Ivan’s side.

After being targeted by a pack of hyenas, abandoning food, fleeing in embarrassment, and losing direction, among a series of unlucky events.

He felt that his luck had finally turned.

In this bountiful hill, he found a plentiful supply of food!

First, he found some fruit in the northeast part of the hill, African monkey oranges.

These fruits, like a timely rain, replenished the vitamins his body lacked.

Next was cassava.

On the other side of the hill, he found a field of cassava and dug up some of it.

These foods greatly enriched his stockpile.

Finally, there was the twisted-horned impala.

With his superb skills, he shot a twisted-horned impala and butchered it.

These foods excited Ivan immensely.

Currently, he was processing the meat of the twisted-horned impala.

Once the meat was smoked properly, he could rely on the accumulated food supply.

Make a beeline for Vanessa.

However, just as Ivan was lying at the base of a tree resting.

Chen Wen and Feng Zhong stealthily circled from another side, arriving deep in the woods, slowly creeping through.

Using the trees and bushes as cover.

While hiding their movements, Chen Wen and Feng Zhong saw Ivan resting.

”What do you say? Who goes first?”

Feng Zhong asked, looking at Chen Wen.

But seeing his excited expression and eager demeanor.

Chen Wen played along: ”How about you give it a try?”

”Ok!”

Feng Zhong said, about to go out.

But Chen Wen pulled him back: ”Remember, after you eliminate him, he still has one life; don’t let him escape.”

”Absolutely!”

Feng Zhong was full of confidence: ”My speed definitely won’t be slower than his.”

Spoken as such, but Chen Wen wasn’t very assured.

He pondered, predicting which direction Ivan might flee and went ahead to lie in wait.

But as Chen Wen was moving.

He suddenly noticed a familiar scent.

Turning back, he saw that Leopard the Second had caught up.

Chen Wen glanced at Feng Zhong, who was planning the attack on the other side, and retreated a bit with Leopard the Second.

He didn’t blame Leopard the Second for following, just advised it not to attack humans actively.

Telling it to stay by his side, providing protection.

Leopard the Second was quite obedient.

Chen Wen, with Leopard the Second, went to the west to lie in wait.

As Chen Wen settled into place, Feng Zhong was also ready for the attack.

Feng Zhong stared at Ivan, eyes gleaming with ferocity.

The attack begins!
