Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 434: Chapter 103: The Wager

”So, Adam and Rock made a canoe and can freely travel back and forth on the Kuanduo River with it.”

Chen Wen was a bit surprised to hear this news.

Jamie nodded, ”Kaelian and I were caught off guard and were ambushed from behind by them using the canoe.”

”If we form an alliance, we must stay vigilant against the canoe!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen nodded slightly.

The canoe was indeed quite troublesome.

After all, the Kuanduo River hadn’t dried up to a point where ships couldn’t navigate.

Before the end of this survival contest, Adam and Rock could use the canoe to achieve higher mobility.

”I understand. By the way, you haven’t seen Feng Zhong?”

”Feng Zhong? I thought you two teamed up.”

Jamie looked at Chen Wen in astonishment.

”We did team up once.”

Chen Wen didn’t elaborate further.

Jamie, wisely, didn’t press on but instead asked about Chen Wen’s two leopards.

Chen Wen recited the excuse he’d thought up earlier. Jamie, hearing this, though somewhat doubtful, still believed Chen Wen.

As they had already exchanged information, Jamie was about to bring Chen Wen to eliminate Adam and Rock.

But Chen Wen extended his hand toward Jamie.

”Give me the satellite phone, let’s save some time.”

Upon hearing this, Jamie’s expression changed slightly, ”You really don’t want to team up?”

”No, I don’t trust you.”

Chen Wen nodded with a calm expression.

From the beginning, he had no intention of partnering with Jamie.

After all, as survival reached its final stages, each elimination would accumulate a higher evaluation.

In such a situation, the only person Chen Wen could trust completely was himself.

”I can’t hand over the satellite phone!”

Jamie was a bit angry.

He picked up the flint long spear.

While Chen Wen drew his long spear, the atmosphere between them became tense.

However, upon seeing the roasted snake meat on Jamie’s side, Chen Wen hesitated and pointed with the spear, ”Before we start, you can eat something, or else it’ll get cold.”

Although Chen Wen meant well—after all, in Hua Country, no matter how urgent the matter—

If it’s time to eat, you talk while eating or after eating.

This is a show of respect for food.

But for Jamie, who wasn’t familiar with Hua Country’s culture, this behavior undoubtedly felt disdainful, and he was even angrier.

He snorted, saying, ”Where’s your food? I think you might as well bring it over in advance, so when you’re eliminated, it won’t add insult to injury to your already bad mood!”

This made Chen Wen laugh.

He thought for a moment and said, ”Why not just bring your food over to my place? I have a small canoe there, you can load it up, so no matter who eliminates whom, it’ll be convenient to take it away after elimination.”

Jamie was stunned, a canoe?

He thought for a moment, then nodded, ”Alright, let me finish eating first.”

Jamie ravenously devoured a piece of roasted python and extinguished the campfire.

Then he packed up all his belongings and followed Chen Wen to the riverbank.

Before long.

The two reached the riverbank, and Jamie saw Chen Wen’s canoe.

”This...”

Jamie looked at the canoe, puzzled, ”Why does it look like a broken canoe?”

”Yes, it’s a stranded canoe, and I modified it by cutting it.”

Chen Wen said, gesturing for Jamie to pass the food to him.

”I’ll do it myself!”

Jamie said, about to place the food into the canoe.

But the hippo lurking in the water heard the movement.

It surfaced with a gasp.

Successfully causing Jamie to step back in panic, ”Hippo! Be alert!”

Chen Wen reached out to steady Jamie, preventing him from falling to the ground.

”Don’t worry.”

Chen Wen extended his hand, calming the hippo, then looked at Jamie, ”It’s just like the two leopards.”

Jamie was a bit bewildered, ”They’re all your tamed beasts?”

”To be precise, they’re friends.”

Chen Wen corrected him.

Jamie glanced at Chen Wen, unable to help himself.

”Honestly, you’re like the old priests from our tribe; they always call animals friends, even though some could easily take their lives.”

Chen Wen gestured for the hippo to retreat.

Once the hippo had retreated a sufficient distance, Chen Wen looked at Jamie, ”But if you sincerely try to build a relationship with animals, they really can be your friends.”

Jamie smiled dismissively and placed the food on the canoe.

However, upon seeing what was on the canoe, Jamie’s expression suddenly changed.

He looked at Chen Wen angrily, pointing at the items, ”Hey! You’re so hypocritical! You just said you treat animals as friends, but what is this?”

Chen Wen paused.

Following Jamie’s pointed direction, Chen Wen suddenly understood.

It was a piece of elephant meat, from the frenzied roamer.

”The show must have mentioned it, right, that elephants are the only animals you can’t hunt. Why did you hunt it?”

Jamie continued to ask.

But Chen Wen replied very calmly, ”What if I had the show’s permission?”

”No way!”

Jamie felt like Chen Wen was trying to fool him.

”Frenzied Roamer, have you heard this name?”

Chen Wen asked.

This name...

Jamie hesitated and then seemed to realize, ”I’ve heard of it, it’s a very dangerous male elephant.”

”This is the meat of that frenzied roamer.”

Chen Wen pointed to the remaining elephant meat.

This left Jamie stunned.

After a while, he awkwardly said, ”Sorry, I wrongly accused you. But where did you encounter the frenzied roamer? How did it die? Was it killed by a hunter?”

Chen Wen nodded, ”More or less, I took it down.”

”Oh, I see.”

Jamie nodded, then his expression suddenly changed, looking at Chen Wen in shock, ”Wait! You took it down?”

”Yes.”

Chen Wen calmly nodded, feeling secretly delighted.

However, after Jamie recovered from his shock, he shook his head, ”Alright, it’s just the two of us here, stop pretending. Where did you find its body?”

”Why would I lie?”

Chen Wen said, ”It was around my shelter, and I took care of it smoothly.”

So smoothly...

This keeps getting more outrageous, my friend.

Jamie still didn’t believe him, even saying, ”If you really killed that elephant, I’ll surrender and let you eliminate me.”

”After all, if you can kill an elephant, what’s the point of resisting? You agree, right?”

Chen Wen’s expression was odd, ”Are you sure?”

”Absolutely!”

Jamie promised with certainty.

As a member of the local tribe, he knew very well how difficult it was to hunt an elephant.

When he was young, elephant protection wasn’t as thorough.

Jamie had personally witnessed his tribe hunting elephants.

It almost took the whole tribe with all kinds of weapons and a meticulous plan to have a chance at taking down an elephant.

Each time they succeeded, the tribe would have a grand feast to celebrate the successful hunt.

These familiar scenes stayed with Jamie like the Chinese New Year to people in Hua Country, unforgettable.

Therefore, regarding Chen Wen’s claim of single-handedly hunting an elephant.

Jamie couldn’t possibly believe it.

So he was so sure.

But Chen Wen, knowing the truth, was overjoyed.

”Alright, since you said so, I’ll take you to see where the frenzied roamer’s body is.”

Chen Wen said, motioning Jamie to follow him.
