Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 416: Chapter 85: Elephants Around the Camp

Therefore, as soon as they got up today.

The two decided to return to their shelter.

With a canoe, their return speed was much faster than Jamie’s.

Moreover, Jamie was not familiar with the terrain around their shelter.

This was a last resort.

As Adam and the other left in the canoe, Jamie slowly emerged from the shadows of the nearby forest.

He looked a bit tired, but very happy.

Because he had repelled Adam and the other, successfully defending his camp.

Although he also suffered heavy losses.

But no matter what, this counterattack was very successful!

However, after the counterattack, Jamie also needed to consider how to survive in the future.

Looking at the mess of the camp, he fell into deep thought.

...

Over on Chen Wen’s side.

He returned to the new campsite in the afternoon, which was in the hill where Yoshikawa Feng survived.

But as soon as he returned, Chen Wen heard some news that made him look grave.

The new campsite had been stalked by an unknown beast!

Leopard the Second said solemnly, ”It’s strong! And very dangerous! I don’t know what it is, but my instincts keep telling me to stay away from it!”

Chen Wen took a deep breath, guessing the identity of the creature.

But just based on Leopard the Second’s description, many beasts fit the criteria.

So, he asked, ”Where did you feel it from?”

”From the east side.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen grabbed his weapon and began a search on the east side.

Though Leopard the Second hadn’t recovered from his wounds, he still followed Chen Wen for the search.

...

To the east of the shelter, there was a large forest.

This forest connected to the eastern plains, to the north was the ridge of the hill, and crossing over was another vast plain.

It was also considered a thoroughfare.

However, the ones passing through here were usually medium to small-sized herbivores and some large antelopes.

Apart from them, predators like lions rarely passed through here.

But caution was always necessary.

Chen Wen held a long spear and walked step by step, constantly checking his surroundings.

Soon, he made a discovery.

”These are droppings, of some kind of antelope, a small one.”

Chen Wen poked at the glossy black balls on the ground with a stick and said, ”Looks very fresh, it must have just passed by not long ago.”

Leopard the Second sniffed the air and said, ”Yes, I can smell the fresh scent of prey; I might have even hunted this type before.”

Chen Wen nodded slightly and continued, ”But antelopes are obviously different from the kind of beast I’m looking for that makes a leopard nervous.”

”Let’s keep searching, I feel it should be nearby.”

As he spoke, Chen Wen suddenly stepped into air.

Instinctively, he pulled back his foot, but the next second, his foot touched solid ground.

After a stumble.

Chen Wen looked down, and a trace of surprise flickered in his eyes.

”Such big footprints, an elephant!”

He instantly identified what made the marks on the ground.

It was definitely an elephant!

Moreover, it was a solitary male elephant!

Chen Wen immediately became tense.

Because the footprints were very fresh!

The sunken soil was even still moist.

These footprints were definitely left this morning, or even more recently!

And compared to male African elephants, the temperamental female African elephants are already considered to have good temperaments.

On the African continent, if there is one creature that is most unwise to provoke.

The male African elephant is the sole answer to this question.

As the current king of the land on Earth.

Male African elephants possess enormous power capable of destroying anything.

Never mind Chen Wen’s current status with hippos close by and two leopards around him.

Encountering a mature male African elephant without firearms would mean his only option is to flee.

To kill an African elephant, humans either form a hunting party together or use firearms.

Solo hunting of African elephants is extremely hard!

It could be said to be a hell level of difficulty!

Therefore, upon seeing the footprints left by an African elephant, Chen Wen felt an immediate sense of crisis.

”There are no other types of footprints around, which now confirms 100 percent that this is a mature male African elephant!”

Chen Wen said, taking a deep breath.

He roughly measured the footprints of this African elephant and estimated its height and weight.

The answer was obvious.

”This is a prime male African elephant, it’s extremely dangerous!”

”As animals without a fixed mating season, African elephants can enter rut at any time, and during rut, the hormone levels of male African elephants rise, making them more aggressive than usual. They attack other male elephants and compete for mates, not to mention when humans encounter such African elephants, it’s highly likely it will irrationally attack humans!”

Chen Wen said, looking around.

As of now, he hadn’t sensed the presence of an African elephant nearby.

”In short, perhaps this was just an African elephant passing through by chance, leaving traces, which is the best case scenario, indicating it’s not interested in me and has moved on.”

Chen Wen brought out the drone and said, ”But once it takes an interest in me or becomes aggressive, then I’m in danger! My new shelter can withstand some animal attacks, but elephants are definitely not among them.”

”If such an animal is determined to destroy my shelter, then my wooden cabin will be like paper to it.”

Launching the drone.

Chen Wen began scouting the surroundings.

But the drone kept flying around, unable to find any trace of the elephant.

As time approached evening.

Chen Wen ended the search: ”Within several kilometers, we didn’t find a lone male elephant, perhaps this was just an African elephant passing through.”

”But anyway, when I return to the shelter today, I plan to make some preparations against elephant attacks.”

After speaking, Chen Wen, accompanied by the leopards, returned to the shelter.

...

At the program team’s station.

After a thorough check, the very healthy Ivan left his ward.

He planned to visit his companion, Vanessa.

As soon as he entered the room, Ivan felt a gaze filled with murderous intent.

This gaze was even more terrifying to him than a lion’s!

Ivan immediately said, ”I’m sorry! This time it was my fault!”

Apologize first, stand straight to take a beating.

This was Ivan’s experience in dealing with Vanessa.

Generally speaking, after being scolded twice more by Vanessa, the matter would pass.

But this time Vanessa just snorted coldly and said, ”I need an explanation!”

Ivan looked bitter: ”I was eliminated, what more explanation is there? Chen Wen and Feng Zhong came after me together, how could I fight them?”

”You have no idea, Chen Wen even tamed a leopard! When I saw it, I was dumbfounded, there was simply no chance to resist.”

Vanessa’s expression softened slightly.

But thinking about the hardships of the past half-month, she was still a bit angry: ”Then you survived for more than half a month and still couldn’t find me?”

”Sigh, this is even more outrageous!”

Ivan said bitterly, ”At first, things went smoothly, but as it went on, I got more and more unlucky, I even got lost!”

”Lost?”

Vanessa looked at Ivan in disbelief: ”Even if you’re making excuses, find a better one!”

”Lost? You got lost? The two of us could even navigate through the Siberian forests without a hitch, and you tell me you got lost on the tropical savannah?”

Ivan tutted and said, ”Just walking, I definitely wouldn’t get lost, but the problem is I was chased by an elephant!”

This time Vanessa said nothing.

Chased by an elephant?

Ivan let out a sigh of relief and then began to speak slowly.
