Chapter 1040: Chapter 42: Shinfuru’s Shadow

The breeze is gentle, the leaves rustle softly.

Sunlight shines through the gaps in the leaves, casting large patches of light on the forest floor.

A dry leaf falls from a towering ancient tree, just as it’s drifting in mid-air, this leaf suddenly pauses, then turns into fragments.

Below the fragments of the dry leaf, Su Xiao is sitting cross-legged on a tree trunk, his eyes closed, Dragon Slash placed flat on his legs, he is engaged in daily meditation.

In the natural environment of the Naruto World, Su Xiao faintly feels that meditating here is different from before.

While meditating, his mind is very calm, the blood energy on his body has faded a lot, yet his aura is exceptionally sharp.

”Endless Life?”

Suddenly speaking while meditating, Su Xiao seems to have realized something, but he immediately interrupts this enlightenment, as it’s not what he wants, vastly different from his path of development.

After many practices, Su Xiao concludes that the forest is not the ideal place for meditation, although he can feel certain things in the forest, they are not what he needs, those things barely enhance his sword technique.

Finishing his daily meditation, Su Xiao slowly opens his eyes.

Boom, boom...

The sound of explosions echoes from afar, it’s easy to imagine that Sasuke is in a skirmish with Naruto, and Sasuke is likely under siege by contractors.

”A Mu, bring her over.”

Sitting atop dried leaves, A Mu stands up, carrying Shinfuru towards Su Xiao.

Su Xiao leaps down from the tree trunk, signaling A Mu to lay Shinfuru flat on the ground. Shinfuru’s eyes open, seeing Su Xiao makes her somewhat turn her head in despair.

”Is this how you express gratitude to your lifesaver?”

Su Xiao squats in front of Shinfuru.

”Thank... you.”

Shinfuru’s tone is somewhat unwilling, Su Xiao is completely her internal shadow.

”A Mu, kill her.”

Su Xiao continues to smile.

”Huh!?”

Shinfuru is a bit baffled, yet A Mu has already clenched his fists, hammering hard towards Shinfuru’s chest.

Swoosh!

The sound of the wind breaking approaches, Shinfuru knows unless she says something now, she will surely die.

”I will surely...”

Halfway speaking, Su Xiao raises his hand, A Mu’s fist stops in midair, and he sits back on the ground, unbridling the beloved sash behind him, and starts digging out wild fruits to eat.

Gulu, Shinfuru swallows.

”Just joking earlier, you wouldn’t mind, right?”

Su Xiao maintains a warm smile, warm to the extent Shinfuru feels a bit like crying.

”Of... of course not.”

”That’s good.”

In conversation, Su Xiao eyes the bloodstain on Shinfuru’s chest. Evidence of damage is visible on the clothes, a wound inflicted by Sasuke previously.

Su Xiao probes his fingers into the torn part of Shinfuru’s clothing; touching Shinfuru’s wound makes her groan softly.

A rip sound, Su Xiao tears open the part of her clothing, exposing large patches of skin stained with blood. Shinfuru instinctively wants to curl her body, but after considering, she chooses not to move, laying strictly straight on the ground.

Shinfuru’s wound lies under the collarbone, above the chest, a slightly awkward area, merely concealed by Shinfuru’s innerwear.

Su Xiao casually pulls off Shinfuru’s clothes, her expression becomes more and more unnatural.

”Uh... Are you going to help me heal?”

Shinfuru turns her head, her expression increasingly unnatural.

”Of course, did you assume I’m just observing your female features? Not to mention the blood covering you, with your flat chest, I’m not interested.”

Su Xiao’s words pierce Shinfuru’s heart like a sharp sword.

”Ol... I...”

Originally Shinfuru wanted to say ’old lady,’ but after careful thinking, addressing herself as ’old lady’ to Su Xiao might just mean death.

”Rest assured, for someone built like you, including A Mu, no one is interested.”

Another ’sharp sword’ pierces Shinfuru’s heart, her mouth keeps twitching, for some reason she suddenly doesn’t feel humiliated, rather it feels significantly natural.

”Will I die?”

Shinfuru softly opens her mouth.

”Under normal circumstances, you should already be dead.”

Su Xiao’s finger points at Shinfuru’s wound, he initially thought Shinfuru was severely injured, but now it seems that’s not the case. Before Sasuke’s Chidori Sharp Spear grazed above Shinfuru’s heart, causing a wound on the upper side of her heart.

The heart being punctured, this injury is potentially fatal, yet Shinfuru perseveres so long; it must be said the Uzumaki Clan’s bloodline is indeed powerful.

Repairing Shinfuru’s heart isn’t difficult, also the injury near Shinfuru’s heart is not severe, only lightly grazed. Utilizing the Uzumaki Clan’s mighty life energy, left unchecked, Shinfuru has a 70% chance of dying.

”Indeed, the heart was pierced.”

Shinfuru’s gaze exhibits sadness, having a teammate pierce her heart; just as Shinfuru grieves, she suddenly feels her chest throbbing painfully.

”What are you... doing?”

Shinfuru nearly passes out from the pain; because of Su Xiao inserting two fingers into her wound.

”Naturally, helping you heal.”

Su Xiao is assisting Shinfuru, in some manner of speaking; perhaps so.

Numerous grain-sized white spiders crawl out from Su Xiao’s sleeves; these are not creatures but alchemy bombs.

Dozens of tiny spiders descend along Su Xiao’s arm, finally squeezing through the gap between his fingers into Shinfuru’s wound.

Shinfuru indeed is a ninja, but she’s also a 17-year-old minor girl; when she sees these white mini spiders trying to enter her body, her heart is somewhat falling apart.

”Still... Let me recover by myself, I can manage.”

Shinfuru truly cannot resist, she begins struggling to escape Su Xiao’s control.

”Lie obediently.”

Su Xiao only casts a glance at Shinfuru, and she immediately becomes obedient, because she realizes one thing. If she makes an unusual move, it might lead to her death.

Shinfuru resigns herself lying straight on the ground.

”I knew it would be like this.”

Shinfuru completely gives up resistance, allowing the white tiny spiders to burrow into her body; faced with inescapable circumstances, surrender feels like the only option. The sensation of spiders crawling through flesh and pain propagates goosebumps across Shinfuru’s body.

The white miniature spiders traverse through the wound reaching the heart vicinity; dozens of these white spiders bundle together, their claws clutching onto Shinfuru’s heart, sealing up the wound via their bodies. Soon, they fuse as one mass, sealing the wound on the heart entirely.

Thud, thud...

Every heartbeat originally spurting blood from the heart’s wound, now sealed by the white tiny spiders, stops the blood from spurting. From now on, it depends on Shinfuru’s recovery ability, if it’s strong enough to heal the heart.

”That should suffice.”

Su Xiao withdraws his fingers from Shinfuru’s wound, Shinfuru closes her eyes from the pain; yet she is not naive, knowing indeed Su Xiao saved her.

Shinfuru glances at Su Xiao, sighs, then powerlessly loses strength throughout.

”Max five bites a day; exceeded five, the effect diminishes, above ten shall be my demise.”

Shinfuru certainly suspected why Su Xiao saved her.

”Five bites, more than expected.”

Right as Su Xiao finishes speaking, he receives a prompt from Reincarnation Paradise.

[Prompt: Hunter has activated personal affinity with the character Shinfuru.]

[Prompt: When affinity falls below 10 points, personal affinity is frozen. Upon recovery to 30 points, it can be reactivated.]

[Prompt: Due to Hunter’s menace felt strongly by Shinfuru, affinity lower bound +8, effective under affinity above 2 points. Frozen if below 2 points.]

[Prompt: As Hunter has low charm attributes, and Shinfuru is terrifically afraid of Hunter, Shinfuru personal affinity ceiling is permanently -20, with max at 80 points.]

[Current affinity: 12 points.]
