Chapter 1026: Chapter 28: Clone

The steam rose, and the magma’s heat evaporated the snow into mist.

The cold wind swept through, dispersing the steam. At this moment, three people were confronting each other in the forest.

Su Xiao glanced sideways at Mei Terumi; she belonged to traditional ninja, her taijutsu wasn’t weak, but she fought relying on ninjutsu, classified as mid-range attack.

As for the white-haired man in front of Mei Terumi, he was once Su Xiao’s prison mate, named Hōzuki Susuki.

When Su Xiao first arrived in the Naruto World, he landed in the Hidden Mist Village’s prison, charged with attempting to assassinate the Fourth Mizukage.

Back then, Hōzuki Susuki was held in the cell next to Su Xiao; he belonged to the Hidden Mist Village’s Warring Faction, a former subordinate of the Fourth Mizukage, while Mei Terumi represented the Peacemaker Faction. Therefore, Hōzuki Susuki attempted to assassinate Mei Terumi, but due to the desperate protection of Chōjūrō, Hōzuki Susuki failed and was subsequently imprisoned.

Initially, Su Xiao thought Hōzuki Susuki had been executed by Mei Terumi, but clearly that wasn’t the case. Hōzuki Susuki’s loyalty was not to the Fourth Mizukage, but to the Hidden Mist Village. Mei Terumi understood this, so she announced publicly that Hōzuki Susuki was dead, but actually spared his life.

Hōzuki Susuki didn’t care whether Mei Terumi spared him; he wouldn’t pledge loyalty to her because of it. However, after Mei Terumi’s rise to power, the situation in Hidden Mist Village indeed improved; at least the internal conflict had ceased, albeit through rather bloody methods, eliminating over 60% of the Warring Faction.

Noticing the change in Hidden Mist Village and Mei Terumi’s apt recruiting, Hōzuki Susuki became Mei Terumi’s hidden sharp blade, taking care of matters inconvenient for some Hidden Mist ninjas to handle.

Thus, through multiple collaborations and negotiations, trust gradually formed between them. With Qing, Mei Terumi’s trusted aide, dead, Hōzuki Susuki naturally assumed the role of Mizukage Guard, accompanying Mei Terumi at the Five Shadow Summit.

Hōzuki Susuki’s strength was uncertain for now, but definitely not weak. Back in prison, during a casual chat, Hōzuki Susuki once said, ”That woman is a Peacemaker faction’s waste. I almost killed her if it weren’t for Chōjūrō suddenly appearing, a one-on-one would’ve definitely been mine.”

If Hōzuki Susuki wasn’t boasting, it might imply he’s potentially stronger than Mei Terumi, meaning while he’s not a shadow, he might possess shadow-level strength.

Facing two shadow-level opponents, Su Xiao felt troubled, but retreating wasn’t an option at this moment, so tactics had to be used.

A Mu was already engaging Chōjūrō at a distance, and Bubu Wang was there assisting A Mu. If those two could quickly defeat Chōjūrō, A Mu could help Su Xiao hold off either Mei Terumi or Hōzuki Susuki.

However, Su Xiao had another idea, to use Hōzuki Susuki’s Bloodline Limit to kill him swiftly.

Although Hōzuki Susuki knew of Su Xiao, he wasn’t very familiar with Su Xiao’s fighting style. On the contrary, Su Xiao understood the Hōzuki Clan,

The Hōzuki Clan has the Water Transformation Ability; if Hōzuki Susuki dared to use it to forcibly withstand Su Xiao’s cleave, then Su Xiao could instantly kill him, as Blue steel shadow energy is the nemesis of Water Transformation.

”Help me clear the area, preferably bring the temperature to 20 to 30 degrees.”

Hōzuki Susuki suddenly spoke, and the tone clearly indicated Mei Terumi should support him in battle. It’s important to know she is the Mizukage, Hōzuki Susuki is merely a guard.

”No problem.”

Mei Terumi quickly formed seals with her hands, utterly accepting of assisting Hōzuki Susuki in battle.

”Lava Jutsu: Magma Falls.”

Mei Terumi spewed out a large swath of magma from her mouth, affecting a broad area.

The magma surged around, and surely Su Xiao was impacted as well, but he neither dodged nor evaded, charging straight towards Mei Terumi and Hōzuki Susuki.

An energy shield appeared in front of Su Xiao; he flatly pushed his hand against the shield, pushing it into the magma, which splashed as the energy shield pierced through the magma layer.

”Water Jutsu: Water Iron Cannon Technique.”

Hōzuki Susuki’s right hand extended flatly, his palm forming a gun-like shape. At the tip of his index finger, a drop of water gathered.

Boom!

The water drop shot forth like a bullet, its speed unexpectedly rivaling the Spider Queen’s bullets, breaking airwaves as it raced towards Su Xiao.

Su Xiao halted his advancing footsteps at once, instinctively sidestepping. The drop of water flew past him.

The water drop’s momentum didn’t halt, piercing through an unknown number of trees before disappearing from Su Xiao’s sight, leaving bowl-sized holes in the tree trunks, with neatly cut surfaces inside the holes.

If this thing hit, even with Su Xiao’s physical defense, it’d definitely drill a hole through him.

Large swathes of magma hit the ground, rapidly melting the snow, and several trees began to burn fiercely, raising the nearby temperature.

”It’s enough, Lady Mizukage, please maintain a distance to avoid collateral damage.”

Hōzuki Susuki clasped his hands together, his body’s surface gradually becoming oily from his internal fat.

”Alright.”

Mei Terumi retreated decisively; it wasn’t her first time teaming up with Hōzuki Susuki, and she held considerable confidence in his strength.

The oil on Hōzuki Susuki’s surface gradually detached from his body, and his hand sign changed.

Boom!

White smoke rose, and a ’clone’ appeared, its attire identical to Hōzuki Susuki, but its age was vastly different.

Hōzuki Susuki was roughly thirty years old; the wind and sun from his ninja career made him look like a middle-aged man, with a little moustache on his chin, making him appear older.

Yet the clone beside him was a child about 10 years old, resembling a young Hōzuki Susuki, standing about 1.2 meters tall.

”Water Clone? No.”

Watching Hōzuki Susuki’s clone carefully, Su Xiao didn’t recklessly charge forward; intuition was warning him.

The child clone suddenly floated upwards, grinning, while Hōzuki Susuki again formed seals.

Ring!

A blade aura flew in, disrupting Hōzuki Susuki’s seals, but the ground beneath him had already turned pitch black and damp.

Bubbles rose one after another, illuminated by sunlight to appear colorful and vibrant, quietly floating beside Hōzuki Susuki.

Hōzuki Susuki waved his hand, and the child clone flew towards Su Xiao whereas Hōzuki himself assumed the hand posture, ever ready to use the ’Water Cannon Bullet’ for long-range attacks against Su Xiao.

Su Xiao hesitated for a moment, then charged at Hōzuki Susuki again; they were very close now, and he instantly arrived before him.

Gulu gulu.

Bubbles by Hōzuki Susuki swelled.

Boom!

An explosion echoed; these bubbles detonated like powerful bombs beside Hōzuki Susuki.

Su Xiao was pushed back by the explosion’s impact, with dozens of counter shields floating near him, he flicked his hand, tossing something unknown.

While Su Xiao remained in the air, the child clone sped towards him; it could hover and fly at high speed.

Su Xiao seized the moment, slashing towards the child clone, but just as Dragon Slash was about to touch the clone’s neck, he abruptly halted the cleave.

Bang.

The child clone punched at a counter shield; its attack power was not excessively strong, yet it continued pushing Su Xiao back in midair.

”Water Jutsu: Water Cannon Bullet.”

Taking advantage of the moment, Hōzuki Susuki attacked, two water droplets shot towards Su Xiao at high speed.
