Chapter 1005: Chapter 7: Crucial Intelligence

”There are no abnormal Chakra fluctuations; this must be the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki.”

Shinfuru spoke softly, feeling inevitably intimidated in front of Su Xiao.

Shinfuru is a Perception Ninja, which is the main reason why Sasuke did not trust Su Xiao’s judgment. After capturing the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki, Eagle Squad immediately asked Shinfuru to confirm if there was anything unusual, and the result was no anomalies, except for the fact that the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki was heavily injured, leading to weak Chakra fluctuations within.

”The Chakra fluctuation is too faint.”

Obito reached out and grabbed Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, by the neck, lifting him from the ground.

”He is severely injured, so weak Chakra is normal...”

Crack!

Before Shinfuru could finish speaking, Obito snapped Killer Bee’s neck.

For a ninja of Killer Bee’s strength, having his neck snapped would not result in immediate death, especially since Sasuke’s two subordinates have healing abilities.

Everyone’s eyes were focused on Killer Bee, and Sasuke’s expression grew increasingly grim.

Killer Bee’s aura remained unchanged and still weak, as if having his neck snapped had no effect on him.

Obito’s exposed Sharingan narrowed, and a spatial vortex appeared. Within the vortex was a power of strangulation. Sensing this fluctuation, Su Xiao immediately deduced that Obito had already transplanted Kakashi’s Sharingan.

Bang.

White smoke rose, and Killer Bee disappeared, replaced by an octopus tentacle nearly two meters long.

As it turns out, Sasuke failed to capture Killer Bee and was played by him all along.

It’s no wonder Sasuke was deceived. It was his first time capturing a Tailed Beast, and he was inexperienced. Furthermore, Killer Bee’s substitution was too lifelike, even Kisame and Deidara, who had previously captured a Tailed Beast, didn’t notice it. Of course, this was also because neither of them are perception types.

”Hahaha.”

Deidara laughed heartily, not caring about Sasuke’s darkened expression.

”How could this be?”

Shinfuru was somewhat incredulous, having confirmed multiple times, yet failed to detect any abnormalities in Killer Bee.

”Sasuke, you’re not mature enough.”

Obito’s tone wasn’t accusatory; he was merely provoking Sasuke, as he knew all too well Sasuke’s competitive nature.

”Rookie, the first thing you need to learn is to respect your seniors.”

Kisame revealed his Shark Tooth grin, having had disagreements with Sasuke before, and because of Itachi, he paid particular attention to Sasuke.

”Spare me the lectures.”

Sasuke knew he was in the wrong, having failed his first mission, but admitting fault was unlikely; after all, Er Zhuzi lived up to his name.

”Kisame, you’re in charge of capturing the Eight-Tails.”

Obito didn’t pursue Sasuke’s mistake further; instead, he contemplated how to quickly nurture this chess piece. This required fostering hatred, as Sasuke’s current enemies were Konoha’s higher-ups.

”No problem.”

Kisame agreed heartily, standing up and heading out of the base. That’s just how Kisame was: ready to act the moment he received a mission.

”Deidara, you team up with Jue to find Konan. If Jue is exposed, your task is to cover his retreat.”

”Am I the insurance, hm.”

Deidara continued with his self-questioning and answering speaking style.

”Bai Ye, you’re responsible for the Nine-Tails. You’ve attacked Konoha and are familiar with its barriers. If possible, avoid capturing the Nine-Tails near Konoha.”

”Capturing the Nine-Tails is fine, provided it’s outside of Konoha. I won’t capture it within Konoha itself.”

”That’s what I meant.”

Obito laid out the general plan: Kisame to capture the Eight-Tails, Su Xiao for the Nine-Tails, and Jue and Deidara to search for Konan. Obito himself would be ready to support Jue and Deidara with his spatial abilities at any moment. The task of finding the Rinnegan required either himself or Sasuke, as the Rinnegan was too crucial, and Sasuke was still not ready for such a major role.

While the Akatsuki Organization was conducting their meeting, in the Land of Thunder, Hidden Cloud Village.

Hidden Cloud Village is built among high mountains and ridges, located in what is essentially a natural fortress. Due to the scarcity of resources in the Land of Thunder, Hidden Cloud Village couldn’t procure much funding from the Daimyo Mansion of the Land of Thunder.

Forced by necessity, Hidden Cloud Village took a different path and began researching technology, specifically the fusion of ninjutsu and technology. Although nothing shocking to the Ninja World has been produced yet, they have developed many technological ninjutsu devices.

Hidden Cloud Village wasn’t named by chance. In the early morning, the highest buildings of the village are almost shrouded in clouds. However, this elevated terrain results in a lower oxygen content in the air of Hidden Cloud Village.

Nobody knows what race the residents of the Land of Thunder belong to, as most of them have relatively dark skin. It’s not merely black; it’s a deep wheat color.

The mist moved with the breeze. At the highest point in Hidden Cloud Village, atop an artificial mountain supported by metal girders.

At the peak, in the Raikage Office, an angry roar echoed.

”Still haven’t found any trace of Killer Bee? Are you all useless!”

Bang!

A crisp sound came as wooden splinters flew, leaving the Raikage Office silent. In front of a shattered desk knelt three Jonins on one knee.

Behind the desk stood a burly man nearly two meters tall, panting heavily. He wore a white robe, emblazoned with the kanji for Thunder on the back. This was the Fourth Raikage, Ai.

The Fourth Raikage exuded a powerful oppressive aura just by standing there, causing the kneeling Jonins to not dare even lift their heads.

”Lord Raikage, Killer Bee...”

Raikage’s secretary, Mabui, spoke up. She was a beautiful dark-skinned, white-haired woman, wearing a dark green body-hugging skirt and holding a document.

The Fourth Raikage raised his hand, signaling Mabui to hold off. Mabui bowed and stepped back.

”I am giving you two days. Use every method to locate Killer Bee.”

The Fourth Raikage issued an ultimatum. Killer Bee was not only the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki but also the Fourth Raikage’s brother. Although they weren’t related by blood, their camaraderie over the years surpassed that of real brothers.

”Lord Raikage, the situation is quite complex. From the available information, the person who captured Killer Bee is named Uchiha Sasuke, and he was wearing the Akatsuki Organization’s uniform. I fear this involves the Akatsuki Organization. According to what I know, the Akatsuki has successfully captured seven Tailed Beasts. If Killer Bee is included, then...”

The speaker was named Darui, also dark-skinned, white-haired, and with a rather laid-back attitude that suggested he wasn’t easily stirred by anything.

The Fourth Raikage was in the midst of fury, and even his secretary hesitated to speak, yet Darui chose this moment to speak up, even subtly disagreeing with the Fourth Raikage’s view.

Had it been anyone else speaking like this, they would likely have been glared at by the Fourth Raikage and then ’kindly’ shown the door.

But Darui was different. If Killer Bee was the Fourth Raikage’s right hand, then Darui was his left. Moreover, the Fourth Raikage had vaguely hinted at grooming Darui as the next Raikage.

”What do you mean?”

The Fourth Raikage temporarily suppressed his anger.

”Lord Raikage...”

Darui suddenly fell silent, and the Fourth Raikage glanced at him, then understood what he meant.

”You all may leave.”

”Yes.”

The three Jonins received the signal for reprieve, and one of them secretly glanced at Darui with gratitude in his eyes. Darui kept his eyes lowered, showing no emotion.
