Chapter 1022: Chapter 24: The Actor vs. Su Xiao

”The Fourth Ninja War... are you serious?”

The Tsuchikage had already sensed something was off; the enemy’s earlier words might have just been a smoke bomb, but the declaration of war might be the real key.

”See you next time on the battlefield.”

Obito stood up, the magatama in his right eye began to spin, and gradually, Obito, Su Xiao, Bubu Wang, and A Mu twisted in everyone’s view until they disappeared.

The spatial vortex vanished, and the Four Shadows began to discuss the Fourth Ninja World War. Not long after, Hei Tu returned carrying Deidara.

”Brother Deidara, you should thank me; I helped you save face.”

Hei Tu laughed playfully.

”Uh-huh.”

Deidara nodded, currently stuffed inside a bag, truly ashamed. As an S-Level rebel ninja, he could die, but he couldn’t lose face in front of fellow evil Akatsuki members.

”Hei Tu, release the Lime Coagulation Technique from his mouth.”

The Tsuchikage intended to interrogate Deidara about Akatsuki’s information, with the other Shadows present, this was a good opportunity. Even though Deidara was a rogue ninja of Iwagakure, he was still a member of Akatsuki.

The concrete in Deidara’s mouth was removed.

”Old man, you guys are too despicable, using my weakness against Thunder Jutsu to capture me.”

Deidara was captured because the Tsuchikage and others knew him too well; his Explosion Release was a branch of Earth Jutsu, while Thunder Jutsu restrained Earth Jutsu of the same level.

”It’s your own lack of proficient skills.”

The Tsuchikage stepped forward, looking at Deidara with complex emotions.

”Almost let you escape.”

”What do you mean?”

Deidara seemed clearly perplexed.

”The Akatsuki member Bai Ye, he should be your companion, right?”

”Who is Bai Ye? Never heard of him.”

Confusion filled Deidara’s eyes; Akatsuki members shared a common trait: they were tough. Kakuza died being besieged but did not divulge any Akatsuki info, Hidan, before being buried alive, Shikamaru intended to extract Akatsuki information from him, only to receive curses and laughter.

Nagato, Itachi Uchiha, Kisame Hoshigaki, Sasori, some of these people were dead, some still alive, yet undeniably, they were all tough.

Now, Deidara faced the Tsuchikage’s interrogation.

”Stop feigning ignorance. Let me inform you, just now, Bai Ye used an unknown ninjutsu to threaten us. If you were present, he might have urged us to release you.”

Upon hearing this, Deidara’s mindset nearly crumbled.

”Unknown ninjutsu?”

”Yes, it should be a tremendously powerful explosive.”

”Really? Let me meet him, that guy developing something capable of threatening four Shadows, that must be art! Uh-huh!”

”Oh? Just now you claimed you didn’t know Bai Ye.”

”Intermittent amnesia, uh-huh.”

”...”

The Tsuchikage sighed inwardly; in truth, he wanted to protect Deidara. If Deidara revealed Akatsuki’s information, the other ninja villages couldn’t take him away; although he’d spend the rest of his life in Iwagakure jail, if major changes occurred in the ninja world, freedom for Deidara wasn’t impossible.

No matter what evil acts Deidara committed, he was Onoki’s disciple, the most intelligent one, the orphan of his subordinates.

If Deidara weren’t so rebellious or risking his life for art’s sake, he would have been the candidate for Tsuchikage, not Hei Tu.

”Deidara, being invaded by illusionary jutsu ninja in your brain doesn’t feel good; why persist with stubbornness?”

The Tsuchikage now appeared older, despite being a ninja and the Tsuchikage, as one ages, reflection on the past happens, he often remembers the skilled Earth Jutsu young ninja who once stood in front of him shouting: ’Tsuchikage-sama, you go ahead, I’ll hold off Sand Village pursuers.’

”Oh? Planning to invade my brain? Old man, have them try, but it’ll only end with... boom!”

Deidara wasn’t afraid to die; he was curious about what explosive Su Xiao developed.

”Tsuchikage, this rogue ninja, why not hand him over to us in Konoha? I have ways to make him speak.”

Brother Danzo spoke, seemingly quite intrigued by Deidara.

”Sennoi Bixi...”

In the Tsuchikage’s mind emerged a Konoha special shinobi, a ninja with a face full of knife scars, and a somber expression. Sennoi Bixi’s power isn’t exceptional, but his interrogation skills are renowned; any hard head would divulge information and beg for swift death under him.

Deidara’s smile stiffened. While he didn’t fear death, it didn’t mean he wasn’t afraid of being interrogated. Though he could ensure he wouldn’t disclose any info, the process would be a fate worse than death.

Cold sweat began to seep from Deidara’s forehead.

”Thanks for the ’acting’ Hokage’s kindness. Deidara is proficient in Explosion Release; should he self-detonate, the power is enough to flatten Konoha ’again’.”

The Tsuchikage emphasized ’acting’ and ’again’, implying clearly: I’ll give you face by calling you Hokage, but you’re just a deputy, potentially dismissible anytime, and with Konoha just rebuilt, do you want it flattened again?

”Is that so.”

Brother Danzo, truly the cunning old fox, remained unmoved by the Tsuchikage’s words.

Deidara lowered his head, recognizing Onoki was trying to protect him when it didn’t conflict with Iwagakure’s interests. Onoki wouldn’t let personal feelings sway the village, differing from the Raikage; this perhaps is why he could serve as Tsuchikage even at 79.

Deidara knew Akatsuki would rescue him; leaving aside their urgent need for combat power, his squad teammates were still alive.

Just as the Four Shadows were discussing the ownership of Deidara, Deidara spoke up.

”Hey, have you considered this situation? After I am captured, the Akatsuki Organization’s information might be leaked. If any ninja village takes me away, what do you think other Akatsuki members will do? Attacking a ninja village is a commonplace thing for us. Are you prepared to imprison me? Even if you don’t imprison me within the ninja village, they’ll keep a close eye on the ninja village you’re located in.”

”Just a bunch of rogue ninja. When they betrayed their own ninja village, they’ll also betray you. You’re simply loyal to the wrong people.”

Brother Danzo looked up at Deidara.

”Why not give it a try?”

Deidara stopped speaking. Several shadows were skeptical about whether the Akatsuki Organization would rescue Deidara. But they didn’t know, Deidara was definitely a hot potato, no, an explosive potato.

...

In the snowfield outside Wind Snow Mountain, spatial whirlwinds swirled as Su Xiao, Obito, Bubu Wang, and A Mu appeared out of thin air.

”This plan was very successful, good work.”

Obito nodded towards Su Xiao.

”Not handing over Raikage’s head to Danzo?”

Su Xiao didn’t believe Obito could forget something so crucial.

”There’s not much meaning in doing that. Sasuke’s Sharingan can use Susanoo; he has great potential. I’m planning to let him battle Danzo, as for Raikage’s head, it should be returned to its owner.”

Obito took out Raikage’s head from Kamui Space. He was initially preparing to hand over Raikage’s head to Danzo, and it was indeed a good plan, but he temporarily changed his mind.

As for why Su Xiao didn’t personally hand Raikage’s head to Danzo, the reason is simple. He attacked Konoha Village, and regardless of how much Danzo wants this head, as long as it’s given by Su Xiao, Danzo will definitely refuse, which would damage his reputation in Konoha Village.

”You can have it.”

Su Xiao didn’t take Raikage’s head. It was of no use to him, and he couldn’t obtain information from Raikage’s memories through it.

”My target is Danzo.”

”Mei Terumī.”

”Meet at the Fire Country base after it’s done.”

Su Xiao and Obito split up and took different actions, each with their own target.

Not long after separating from Obito, Su Xiao suddenly heard cries for help.

”Help...”

”Help... me...”

Bubu Wang perked up his ears, looking at Su Xiao.

”Just the sound of the wind, ignore it.”

Su Xiao took out an Alchemy Raven, intending to use it to track Mei Terumī and act once she left the area around Snow Wind Mountain.

”Help!”

This time the cry was closer. A woman wearing a milky-white cotton cloak and hood ran over, wrapped entirely by the cloak, seeming to have low physical attributes, unable to withstand the snowfield’s cold.

Contractors certainly wouldn’t be this weak, and this woman wasn’t a civilian from Naruto World. So there’s only one possibility, she’s an unfortunate worker who entered the open world by accident.

This time, 157 Contractors entered Naruto World, excluding Su Xiao and that foreigner. Besides these 157 Contractors, there would be many workers.

Su Xiao often saw workers in the Derivative World, but didn’t usually interact with them.

The woman in the cotton cloak ran briskly while several samurai from Iron Country chased her. As she ran, she saw Su Xiao and immediately looked for help.

Su Xiao noticed the woman’s gaze, her eyes were black and bright, like two black gems.

”Sir, help!”

The woman shouted loudly, but didn’t immediately run towards Su Xiao, seeming somewhat afraid of him. This was normal; workers encountering a Contractor in the Derivative World might be extorted, and incidents involving sexual assault were rare. Even if workers are weak, they can use items, and if they’re pushed, they will retaliate desperately.

For example, Xia, who almost spent all her wealth, obtained a Light Golden Quality item capable of instantly killing Contractors of her level.

Su Xiao ignored the female worker, neither intending to save her nor extort her. As the saying goes, if I’m not provoked, I won’t provoke others.

The samurai also noticed Su Xiao, their pace slowed, indicating they recognized him. But their steps only slowed for a moment before they quickly chased the female worker.

Seeing this, Su Xiao narrowed his eyes. These samurai recognized him, yet chose to pursue her, implying several possibilities. The female worker did something causing significant damage to Iron Country or stole something extremely important, vital enough that these samurai didn’t have time to trouble Su Xiao.

The female worker quickly ran far away, her eyes showing reluctance. After running for half an hour and ensuring she was far from Su Xiao, she abruptly stopped.

”This method seems a bit foolish; indeed, I’m not good at planning.”

The ’female worker’ took off her hood, her gem-like eyes looking at the samurai chasing her. A short-handle war scythe appeared in her hand, approximately 50 centimeters long, with a blade that emitted a faint blue light, and five gemstones embedded in the hilt, all of Golden Quality.

”Blood Bloom.”

Swoosh~

The ’female worker’ vanished on the spot, causing the snow to fly. In almost an instant, the samurai stared in shock.

Thunk, thunk...

Chunks of flesh dropped to the ground. With a single strike, six samurai were all cut into pieces. Stranger still, their blood was floating in midair.

The blood surged towards the short-handle war scythe of the ’female worker,’ soon absorbed completely.

”Greedy thing, can’t even afford to feed you.”

The ’female worker’ sheathed the war scythe, her red lips pursed, seemingly pondering strategies. Shortly, she glanced at the fallen samurai swords in the snow.
