Chapter 1014: Chapter 16: Raikage

”Darui!”

Xi’s eyes were filled with bloodshot veins as he stared blankly at Darui’s frozen head. He couldn’t understand, couldn’t comprehend why the enemy had so quickly broken through his illusion technique.

The fact is, Su Xiao wasn’t affected by the illusion at all. The additional ability of Sword Technique Master Level 30, Blade of Mind, is almost the nemesis of illusion techniques.

[You have killed Hidden Cloud Village Jonin · Darui.]

[Darui was a candidate for Raikage, earning 7.6% of the World Source, now totaling 7.6%.]

[Your Talent ’Soul Devourer’ has activated, permanently increasing your Mana Value by 30, making your current max Mana Value 3556 points.]

[You have obtained a Treasure Chest (Light Gold).]

...

Su Xiao ignored the series of prompts after killing the enemy and shifted his gaze to Xi.

Was Darui weak? Instantly killed by Su Xiao? The truth is otherwise. First, Darui had already been frozen by A Mu’s Ultimate Ability, and given the relatively fragile bodies of most ninjas, being unable to move or form seals made it impossible to withstand Su Xiao’s cleave.

Raikage also noticed that his beloved subordinate, Darui, had been beheaded. He almost instantly abandoned Sasuke and charged towards Su Xiao. Yet, Er Zhuzi had been pounded by Raikage for quite some time, inevitably feeling some pent-up frustration.

”Amaterasu.”

Ignoring the stabbing pain in his eyes, Sasuke forcibly used Amaterasu.

The black flames appeared at Sasuke’s focal point, directly in front of Raikage. If Raikage continued forward, he would surely be engulfed by Amaterasu.

Raikage’s steps halted; he couldn’t use his body to withstand Amaterasu head-on.

A Mu’s leg muscles bulged as it charged headlong towards Raikage with immense speed. This was its ability, Fearless Charge (Active Level 30), reducing damage taken by 50% while charging, with a moving speed of Agility x 1.5.

Wham. Wham. Wham...

A Mu rampaged like a chariot, causing the entire floor to tremble.

Meanwhile, Su Xiao, wielding a long knife, had already engaged Xi in close combat. Xi was entangled with the Boundary Line. This was the moment Su Xiao struck when Darui fell in battle, exploiting Xi’s dazed moment.

Sizzle～

The Boundary Line tightened, tearing Xi’s clothes, with the blue metallic wire digging into his flesh.

Just as Su Xiao was about to swing his blade and slay Xi, a massive fist hammered down from above his head. Raikage possessed considerable combat intelligence; now that Xi was wrapped in the Boundary Line, striking Su Xiao away would make the Boundary Line constricting Xi snap taut, effectively killing Xi indirectly.

Thus, Raikage opted to punch down on Su Xiao, ensuring that the Boundary Line wouldn’t inflict further harm on Xi.

Raikage’s punch was incredibly fast, but Su Xiao’s intuition ability was no mere decoration.

Su Xiao suddenly tugged his left arm, tightening the Boundary Line, causing Xi to scream in pain. At that moment, he was like a sausage tightly bound by rope.

The Boundary Line was positioned above Su Xiao’s head, halting Raikage’s descending fist. Should the punch land, whether it hurt Su Xiao or not, the Boundary Line, hammered under great force, would surely kill Xi.

”Roar!”

A Mu’s arms stretched wide, crushing the ground beneath, releasing a Frost Pulse that spread outward.

Crack, crack, crack...

Huge areas of ice crystals formed within a thirty-meter radius around A Mu, affecting both Raikage and Xi. The two were subjected to a triple frost effect, thanks to A Mu’s ability, Winter Roar.

Logically thinking, A Mu should immediately assist Su Xiao, but Bubu Wang ordered A Mu to head straight to the entrance between the first and second floors and intercept any other potential incoming Kages.

In close combat situations with enemies, Bubu Wang would never direct A Mu to assist improperly, especially during a 1V1. Su Xiao is already accustomed to fighting solo; A Mu’s untimely involvement would only mess things up. Blocking the path is the smart choice now, as A Mu’s role is to control during engagements. Once Su Xiao establishes close range combat with the enemy, A Mu and Bubu Wang can support as needed without interfering directly.

Bubu Wang and Su Xiao have fought together for so long that these nuances don’t even require Su Xiao’s explicit mention.

Currently, exhausted from overusing his pupil power, Er Zhuzi crouched on one knee, panting heavily. Su Xiao held the Boundary Line in hand, while Raikage maintained his punching posture.

Bam.

White smoke rose; Xi transformed into a piece of rock, utilizing the Substitution Technique. ℯℯ𝘭.

”Heh.”

Su Xiao smirked, standing less than half a meter from Raikage. Raikage’s fist came crashing down, yet Su Xiao angled his body.

With a thunderous crash, Raikage’s fist smashed into the ground, sending debris flying, while Su Xiao had already leapt back.

Steady upon landing, Su Xiao pressed the wire wheel at his wrist, rapidly retrieving the Boundary Line that flicked off bloodstains as it wound back.

Su Xiao locked eyes with Raikage, and Raikage looked down at his abdomen, sporting a not-so-deep cut. It wasn’t a direct cleave from Su Xiao; just a graze from his Dragon Slash blade.

Raikage glimpsed at Sasuke once more. Although all of his current enemies wield blades, the damage isn’t on the same level. Uchiha Sasuke’s sword strike might not even pierce his defense; only Amaterasu posed a real threat.

As for Su Xiao, forget the prospect of taking a full-fledged slashing attack, even a cut could breach his Thunder Shield Armor and body with metal-like hardness. If Su Xiao’s full might hit, it wouldn’t just leave a wound; bones could be severed.

Moreover, Raikage realized the enemy’s blade was ’poisoned,’ a kind that undermines chakra and induces internal damage, inflicting excruciating pain.

”Damn Akatsuki scoundrel.”

Raikage bared his teeth, his body’s activation level reaching 85%.

Su Xiao flicked the blood from his long knife; the battle was just beginning. This true confrontation was against the Raikage.

Wham, wham, wham. Wham...

Explosions reverberated, shaking the entire high tower: Deidara was in action. His main task was to draw out the Tsuchikage, no need for outright killing, just luring them out was sufficient.

Almost simultaneously, Su Xiao and Raikage vanished from their spots. In terms of speed, Raikage was faster, but Su Xiao possessed intuition ability and had a much greater attack power than Raikage.

The two figures darted across the battlefield amidst turquoise blade aura, sending stone shards flying.

Clang!

Su Xiao’s long knife struck the thick armguard on Raikage’s forearm; it nearly enveloped his entire forearm, meant for dealing with enemies wielding sharp weapons.

The yellow armguard on Raikage’s forearm, crafted from unique metal, withstood Su Xiao’s cleave.

Sizzle～

Sparks flew, Su Xiao planting his legs apart, gripping the knife with both hands, forcing it downward. Within two seconds, Raikage’s armguard would be sliced open, then it would be Raikage’s arm meeting the same fate.

A close combat expert, Raikage quickly reacted by snapping his leg out in a side kick toward Su Xiao.

”Furious Thunder Axe.”

This leg of Raikage’s was not to be underestimated. If Su Xiao took it head-on, some ribs would surely break even if he survived. Moreover, the kick’s speed was slightly beyond intuition’s predictive reach.

One of Su Xiao’s legs bent, his thigh closely pressed against his chest, his shin raising toward Raikage’s impending side kick while tilting his torso, letting the knife follow suit.

From a rational perspective, one wouldn’t proceed with this kick as Su Xiao’s knife had already tilted, his body angled; if external force struck his side, the Dragon Slash would, riding Raikage’s power, cut through, potentially shearing Raikage’s arm.

However, Raikage didn’t seem rationale.

”I’m the Raikage!”

Raikage roared, his face demonic in rage.

Boom!

Raikage’s foot struck Su Xiao’s leg, numbing both Su Xiao’s leg and chest instantly. Utilizing this external force, Su Xiao’s Dragon Slash blazed forth with full cutting power downward.
