Chapter 1006: Chapter 8: Change of Plans

The Raikage Secretary, Mabui, didn’t leave; as the Raikage Secretary, she of course had to be present.

”It’s like this, Lord Raikage, right now except for Konoha, the tailed beasts from all other ninja villages have been seized by the Akatsuki Organization. Initially, Senju Hashirama divided the nine tailed beasts among the major ninja villages, allowing each village to possess weapons to intimidate each other. Now, these weapons are threatened; should we unite against the Akatsuki?”

”Makes sense.”

The Fourth Raikage nodded, agreeing with Darui’s point, and he had other ideas in mind.

”Darui, while unity is important, we must first figure out what’s happening on Konoha’s side, as they currently possess the tailed beasts, and the relationship between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha is too profound.”

The Fourth Raikage suddenly realized something, looking at Mabui.

”Contact the other four Great Ninja Villages and say that the Hidden Cloud Village requests holding a Five Shadow Summit. In this situation, they won’t refuse.”

The Fourth Raikage was preparing to hold a Five Shadow Summit for three purposes: finding village alliance, accountability, and smearing Konoha.

All other villages’ tailed beasts had incidents; why is Konoha’s tailed beast safe and sound?

This reason seems somewhat absurd, but it aligns with the Hidden Cloud Village’s style. The Hidden Cloud Village once used a similar method to extort the White Eye from Konoha, almost succeeding.

The Fourth Raikage was unaware that the Fifth Hokage Tsunade could no longer serve as Hokage, and thus, Konoha elected a Hokage proxy, Brother Danzo.

Danzo, that cunning old fox, can of course handle the Fourth Raikage’s extortion, and Danzo would be delighted if the Raikage convenes the Five Shadow Summit, as representing Konoha at the summit would expedite his formal appointment.

With the Raikage preparing to hold Konoha accountable, the Five Shadow Summit was about to convene.

Outside the Raikage Office window, several spore balls adhered to the cracks in the window sill; the spore balls were only the size of rice grains, and internally, there was no trace of chakra fluctuation.

...

Akatsuki Headquarters.

Su Xiao and others had finalized the subsequent plan, and just as everyone was about to set off, Jue’s footsteps suddenly halted.

”My clone obtained an important piece of intelligence through the Spore Technique.”

Bai Jue spoke.

”What intelligence? From where?”

”Hidden Cloud Village, just a few minutes ago. It was a spore I planted two months ago near the Raikage office, so I kept letting the clone perceive those few spore balls...”

Bai Jue proudly explained the significance of those spore balls.

”Just explain the intelligence.”

Obito got impatient with Bai Jue’s incessant chatter.

”The Fourth Raikage seems to want to convene a Five Shadow Summit, three days later in the Neutral Nation Land of Iron, and from the Raikage’s intention, it’s primarily to hold Konoha accountable...”

Bai Jue provided detailed intelligence; gathering the shadows of the five ninja villages in three days seemed rushed, but ninjas are different from politicians; they have strong mobility, and it involves the shadows, making three days more than sufficient, with even spare time.

The shorter the time, the lower the risk of the Five Shadow Summit; with only three days, perhaps when the enemy reacts, the summit will have concluded.

”Hold Konoha accountable...”

Obito got interested; if the Raikage intends to gather the other four Great Ninja Villages, he’ll surely interfere. Although his plan includes uniting the five villages, it’s too early now; his power is inadequate to counter the five villages.

If it’s solely the Raikage’s accountability, it’s different. With numerous tailed beasts captured, the five villages are all simmering with anger; if he successfully sows discord, leading them to mutually slaughter and spark war, capturing the remaining two tailed beasts would be simple.

The more Obito thought, the more intrigued he became; besides, he temporarily didn’t want the five villages to unite.

”Five Shadow Summit.”

Upon hearing this keyword, Su Xiao immediately understood how far the situation had progressed.

”Interested?”

Obito looked at Su Xiao with eyes full of intensity.

”Of course...interested; there are personal grievances to resolve.”

”But for the Nine-tails...”

”No need to worry, the Nine-tails will come chasing on its own.”

Su Xiao inadvertently glanced at Sasuke; as long as Sasuke is present, Naruto Uzumaki would inevitably chase after him—this is beyond doubt.

Su Xiao was very curious about one thing: without Naruto Uzumaki as the protagonist involved in the ninja world war, what would the war’s outcome be? Or, if he indirectly altered the war’s outcome, how much World Source or other rewards would he acquire?

The more Su Xiao thought, the more intrigued he became; unquestionably, the Five Shadow Summit is a pivotal turning point. As a member of the Akatsuki Organization involved in this affair, the gains are likely to be astonishing.

”Are you sure?”

Obito seemed to notice Su Xiao’s intention to partake in the Five Shadow Summit but wouldn’t prevent it.

This mutually beneficial matter, Obito naturally wouldn’t stop.

”Deidara, let the clone of Zetsu handle the Konan side; the Five Shadow Summit might be more significant.”

”This decision doesn’t seem wise.”

A deep, raspy voice echoed; it was Kakuzu. He voiced dissent upon noticing Obito concentrating key combat forces on the Five Shadow Summit.

”We’ll discuss afterward.”

Obito’s expression remained unchanged. Though Kakuzu was displeased, with others present, he couldn’t say much.

”That’s settled; aside from Kisame Hoshigaki, who’s already searching for the Eight-tails, everyone else shall go to the summit venue in the Land of Iron.”

Obito realized that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

”Going to cause a huge commotion, hmm.”

The mouth on Deidara’s palm began speaking, extending its bright red tongue.

”Depends on the situation, but during the Five Shadow Summit, what if one or two shadows were to perish?”

Obito’s meaning was straightforward: look for opportunities to kill one or two shadows; only amidst chaos can action be taken.

”Depart in half an hour, head to the Land of Iron.”

The final plan was firmed; head to the Land of Iron and find an opportunity to attack and kill shadows from major ninja villages during the Five Shadow Summit. Among them, the Hokage, Raikage, and Mizukage were the primary targets; if any of these three shadows dies, the situation could become chaotic.

Especially the Mizukage; the Hidden Mist Village has just stabilized, and if the Mizukage suddenly dies in battle, chaos would erupt instantly, and previously accumulated hatred would burst forth.

The meeting concluded; as everyone prepared to depart, Bu Bu Wang remained stationary. It lifted its head to look at Su Xiao, its gaze seemingly asking: ”Master, where’s my joyful little friend Hidan?”

Regarding Bu Bu Wang’s query, Su Xiao wasn’t certain of the exact answer. If he guessed correctly, Hidan was buried somewhere underground, with the specific location unknown.

Obito and Black and White Zetsu walked to the depths of the headquarters. Likely, Kakuzu had some matters to discuss with Obito; most likely, he was displeased with Obito focusing efforts on the Five Shadow Summit, as he deemed the Rinnegan more crucial.

Obito had his own plans; the Rinnegan possessed by Nagato wouldn’t face issues within half a year, whereas the Five Shadow Summit was imminent. Given the priorities, Obito clearly understood the distinctions.
