Chapter 1016: Chapter 18: Sever

The Raikage’s thoughts shifted, and his combat style changed, leaning towards defense. The Raikage was waiting, waiting for the other Kage to arrive. During the Five Shadow Summit, the other Kage would not just watch him die.

The current situation stemmed from that kick by the Raikage. He had grown accustomed to a reckless fighting style, commonly known as suicidal, but today, he met someone even more suicidal.

When Su Xiao fights, regardless of the opponent’s strength, he is always prepared to die in battle. Only by not fearing death can one survive to the end; hesitation leads to a quicker death.

Su Xiao instantly closed the distance with the Raikage. The Raikage no longer took the initiative to attack but used the Hidden Cloud Village’s unique Taijutsu + speed advantage to stall Su Xiao,.

However, Su Xiao’s blade speed was too fast, and the Raikage’s speed had been reduced.

Blade Aura flickered as the Raikage weaved through it. Though in a defensive stance, he was looking for an opportunity to perform a Heavy Strike on Su Xiao.

Splat.

A large chunk of muscle flew up, blood splattering. It was the muscle on the Raikage’s shoulder, cut off by Su Xiao, weighing at least three pounds.

The Dragon Slash was just too sharp, so sharp that the Raikage felt helpless.

Blue Steel Shadow energy entered the Raikage’s body, causing him to grimace in pain, the severe pain freezing his punching motion.

Su Xiao’s eyes lit up as he sidestepped and slashed upward with the Dragon Slash in his hand.

Splat.

Another large chunk of muscle along with skin was cut off, once again from the Raikage’s left shoulder, almost severing his entire left shoulder.

The Raikage had no choice; his left forearm was severed, reducing the defensive means on his body’s left side by over 90%.

”What are you looking at?”

Su Xiao’s Dragon Slash danced a slashing flower, forcing the Raikage back two steps before thrusting forward with his long knife.

The Raikage continued to retreat, and sensing this, Su Xiao hooked his left foot forward along the ground.

With a snap, the stone slabs were gouged with a scratch by his toe, sending a slew of small rubble flying toward the Raikage’s face.

The Raikage was about to use his only remaining right arm to shield his face when Su Xiao slashed, aiming at the spot where the Raikage’s arm intended to block.

Helplessly, the Raikage could only turn his head, but at that moment, Su Xiao’s long knife rotated, changing from a forehand grip to a backhand grip, and slashed upward.

Compared to the small rocks, the Raikage certainly wouldn’t choose to withstand Su Xiao’s slashing head-on.

A few of the small stones struck the Raikage’s face. Su Xiao, with 80 points of True Strength, kicked those stones, their kinetic energy comparable to bullets.

The Raikage’s body was indeed sturdy; these stones didn’t break his skin, only causing him to tilt his head back.

Taking this opportunity, Su Xiao’s long knife rotated again, reverting to a forehand grip.

The long knife slashed horizontally, and with a splat, the Raikage’s entire right arm was severed.

Having joined with Shinfuru and the others, Sasuke witnessed this scene, thinking to himself, can a single knife really be this powerful? Indeed, it can.

The Raikage’s arms were completely severed, yet he did not retreat because he couldn’t utilize his speed advantage to retreat.

If he could escape by speed after engaging Su Xiao, there would be no need for him to hone Sword Technique; that kind of Sword Technique would be too useless.

Once Su Xiao closed the distance, unless there was an ability to create instant separation, retreating was impossible.

The Raikage scanned his surroundings, puzzled as to why the other Kage hadn’t arrived.

It wasn’t that the other Kage didn’t want to come; Kazekage Gaara had actually already arrived nearby, but unfortunately, he was blocked midway by A Mu.

After successfully severing the Raikage’s arms, Su Xiao’s offensive momentum slowed, not because he intended to spare the Raikage, but because the Raikage was very dangerous now.

As a close-combat ninja, the Raikage having his arms severed basically meant he was doomed, ready at any moment for a last-ditch counterattack.

Choosing to continue a fierce assault at this point means either a lack of combat experience or a mystery-level confidence in one’s strength.

Neither choice suits Su Xiao’s combat style, so he maintained a distance of about 3 meters from the Raikage, ensuring the Raikage could not escape while also dodging any final counterattacks.

The Raikage let out heavy gasps, a dull pain emanating from within, the result of multiple erosions by Blue Steel Shadow energy.

The massive blood loss, along with the five flesh pits on his chest, significantly reduced the Raikage’s speed.

Su Xiao occasionally unleashed a slash, no longer aiming for the Raikage’s vital points but starting to slice off flesh piece by piece.

About 20 seconds later, the Raikage was almost skinned, the ground covered in large bloodstains.

”You...”

As the Raikage spoke, a wave of dizziness hit him, making it hard for him to stand, a result of excessive blood loss.

Su Xiao darted forward and slashed off the Raikage’s head in one stroke. Fighting a Sword Technique master is just this dangerous: no dramatic clash of big moves or explosive powering up — a mere distraction, and you lose your head.

The Raikage’s leg, already raised and charged with lightning, halted mid-air. It was his long-prepared attack, aimed at taking Su Xiao down with him, but unfortunately, Su Xiao gave him no such opportunity. First, bleed him out, and when the time was right, decapitate without a word of nonsense.

It was evident that Su Xiao’s long knife combat style was extremely restraining to the Raikage’s close-quarters fighting. The Raikage’s body couldn’t withstand the Dragon Slash, the only part surviving was his forearm’s Metal Arm Ring, but Su Xiao’s Sword Technique was too crafty, and those two arm rings couldn’t block all his slashes.

A fighting style like the Raikage’s is invincible if you can’t break through his defense, strong in power and speed, but once his defense is shattered, death isn’t far off.

[You have killed the Raikage Ai of the Hidden Cloud Village.]

[Ai was the Raikage of the Hidden Cloud Village, gaining 10.4% of the World Source, totaling 18% World Source gains.]

[Your Talent ’Soul Eater’ activates, permanently increasing Mana Value by 30 points, with the current maximum Mana Value at 3586 points.]

[You’ve obtained a Treasure Chest (Legendary).]

...

[Note: Hunter has obtained a Legendary treasure box for the first time.]

[Inside the Legendary Treasure Chest, there’s an 80% chance to obtain Golden Quality Items, a 10% chance to obtain Light Gold Suit Parts, an 8% chance to obtain Golden Set Parts, and a 2% chance to obtain Legendary Items.]

[Note: Legendary Items are extremely rare, once used, they bind to the soul, can’t be sold, and upon death, there’s a chance they will appear in the Crimson Card.]

...

Su Xiao picked up the Treasure Chest on the ground. This Treasure Chest emitted a Dark Gold hue. Although this color wasn’t as dazzling as the Golden Treasure Chest, it seemed deep and heavy like a long-existing treasure.

This was a Legendary Treasure Chest, the first of its kind Su Xiao had seen. As for acquiring Legendary Gear from it, the chance seemed slim, only a 2% probability.

According to Su Xiao’s knowledge, the ranking for Equipment Level is:

White ＜ Green ＜ Blue ＜ Purple ＜ Dark Purple ＜ Blue Set ＜ Light Gold ＜ Gold ＜ Dark Purple Suit ＜ Light Gold Suit ＜ Golden Set.

As for beyond the Golden Set, that would possibly be Legendary Gear, which might contend with an entire Golden Set with a single piece.

Regarding Growth-type Equipment, like Dragon Slash, it was not easily judged, but with enough resources, Dragon Slash could even ascend to the Legendary level.

Su Xiao now had a possibility of gaining Legendary Items, though it was just a possibility.

This time, his luck was beyond exceptional, to acquire a Legendary Treasure Chest after killing the Raikage, but obtaining a Legendary Treasure Chest did not guarantee obtaining Legendary Gear.

Su Xiao couldn’t help but think how powerful he would become if his entire being were clad in Legendary gear or items.

Of course, that day was still a long way off; he might die along the way. For now, possessing even three pieces of Golden Set gear was already a considerable enhancement in his strength.

While self-strengthening is fundamental, the role of equipment cannot be overlooked, as it can exponentially amplify one’s strength.
