Chapter 1027: Chapter 29: Judgment

The counter shield around Su Xiao spread out as he twisted his body in mid-air, dodging two drops of water at an incredible angle. Compared to using the counter shield to forcibly resist, it’s wiser to rely on intuition to evade.

Su Xiao landed with muddy water splashing beneath his feet. Due to the surrounding snow being melted by lava, the ground within a hundred meters radius turned into a quagmire.

Through the engagement with Hōzuki Susuki, Su Xiao discovered something: Hōzuki Susuki might be stronger than Mei Terumī.

Moreover, after Mei Terumī left the battlefield, she wasn’t merely spectating but went to support Chōjūrō. The current situation became such that if Su Xiao doesn’t quickly deal with Hōzuki Susuki, A Mu might be slain by the combined forces of Chōjūrō and Mei Terumī, leading Su Xiao to face the assault of three people.

Mei Terumī and her two companions all have rich combat experience. At the start of the battle, they quickly figured out the situation on the field and devised counter-strategies.

Thoughts spun in Su Xiao’s mind. Over on A Mu’s side, Bubu Wang is holding the line. Blocking Mei Terumī and Chōjūrō for 5 to 10 minutes shouldn’t be a problem. It all comes down to whether Mei Terumī deals with A Mu first, or Su Xiao deals with Hōzuki Susuki first.

Hōzuki Susuki is not easy to handle. His fighting style is entirely different from the Hōzuki Clan, most of whom prefer close combat with enemies, utilizing the advantage of body water transformation to defeat them.

Hōzuki Susuki, however, is different. He knows that while the water transformation ability is handy, it will eventually meet its nemesis. So he sets explosive bubbles around himself. When enemies approach, he quickly detonates the bubbles to repel the foes. As for any damage the bubbles might cause him, he can become immune using water transformation.

It’s tough for Su Xiao to engage Hōzuki Susuki at close range. Although those bubbles can’t harm him, their repelling power is strong. Furthermore, the long-range attack capability of the ’Water Cannon Sky Practice Bomb’ shouldn’t be underestimated. Every time Su Xiao is repelled, Hōzuki Susuki takes the opportunity to attack him.

Additionally, that child clone is also bizarre. Su Xiao’s intuition ability clearly senses that upon using the child clone, Hōzuki Susuki’s Chakra level depletes by at least one-third.

Hōzuki Susuki’s Chakra level is weaker than the Raikage but is more than ten times that of Sasuke. Although this is not as exaggerated as the Raikage and Kisame Hoshigaki, it’s still a significant amount.

With such a massive Chakra depletion, would the child clone be a simple technique?

Not every battle requires rushing in blindly. When Su Xiao doesn’t understand the enemy, he will first probe. After gaining a rough understanding of the enemy’s abilities, he will then choose to engage closely.

Bubbles, Water Cannon Sky Practice Bomb, and child clone are the three abilities Hōzuki Susuki excels at. These abilities give Su Xiao a vaguely familiar feeling as if he has seen them somewhere, but he can’t recall at the moment.

The bubbles and Water Cannon Sky Practice Bomb are a combination. While the bubbles repel, Hōzuki Susuki uses the Water Cannon Sky Practice Bomb to attack. As for the child clone, its purpose is temporarily unknown.

Su Xiao needs to quickly understand the function of the child clone. He has a feeling that the bubbles and Water Cannon Sky Practice Bomb are self-defense mechanisms of Hōzuki Susuki to ensure he isn’t killed by enemies within a specific time.

Simple self-defense isn’t enough to defeat enemies, which means that the child clone is the main attack method of Hōzuki Susuki. The Chakra consumption of this thing is almost equivalent to the total Chakra of two Jonin.

Dozens of counter shields overlapped above Su Xiao. Unless it’s a critical moment, Su Xiao will not keep the counter shields around him. That seemingly flawless defense is illusory; that’s a choice for a combat novice. Doing so would increase the range of attacks he has to endure.

Su Xiao’s steps moved quickly as the child clone continuously punched toward him. Although the speed and strength weren’t weak, they still couldn’t threaten Su Xiao.

As for Hōzuki Susuki, he always held his arms at shoulder height. The Water Cannon Sky Practice Bomb was ready, prepared to launch at Su Xiao at any moment. This was a smart choice; rather than attacking randomly, it’s better to maintain a constant threat like this.

Wind pressure swept in. As Su Xiao dodged a punch from the child clone, a surge of Blue Steel Shadow energy accumulated in his leg, kicking towards the child clone.

Bam!

The child clone was kicked away, a few droplets of transparent liquid splashing onto Su Xiao’s face. Su Xiao frowned, feeling the high temperature, though it wasn’t enough to burn his skin. However, the temperature of the child clone should be higher.

The Blue Steel Shadow energy clung to the surface of the child clone, dissipating into the air after some time.

Witnessing this scene, Su Xiao squinted. Contrary to his expectations, the child clone wasn’t an energy body but composed of a mass of liquid.

Hōzuki Susuki frowned as he saw Su Xiao kick the child clone away. He too found Su Xiao challenging to deal with. If it were an inexperienced enemy, they would instinctively cleave at the child clone. Once the child clone endured a sharp weapon attack, the enemy’s outcome would not be favorable.

The child clone, after being kicked far away, had its form distorted, but it quickly recovered, charging at Su Xiao once more.

Su Xiao glanced at the child clone, then at Hōzuki Susuki, and finally at his own calf, where a small amount of pale yellow liquid adhered to his pant leg.

Su Xiao’s fingers brushed over his calf, paused, then rubbed the liquid between his index finger and thumb, bringing it to his nose for a sniff.

”Oil?”

The child clone was covered by a layer of near-boiling oil on the outside, and inside... it was water! After Su Xiao’s kick, the internal water of the child clone splattered onto his face, and it was scalding hot water.

Su Xiao carefully observed the child clone. It had expanded from a height of 1.2 meters to 1.9 meters, resembling an obese version of Hōzuki Susuki.

The exterior was oil, the interior was water, and upon receiving attacks or moving, the child clone’s volume would expand. This wasn’t a supernatural phenomenon but a physical phenomenon.

First, the child clone was wrapped in a layer of oil. With its movement or when attacked, the temperature of the oil quickly increased. Now that approximately 2-centimeter-thick layer of oil reached a high temperature, and the internal water would gradually evaporate into steam due to the high temperature of the outer oil. This caused the child clone’s volume to expand, and once it reached the critical point, it would undergo a large-scale steam explosion!

Before the battle began, Hōzuki Susuki had Mei Terumī alter the nearby temperature, laying the groundwork for the child clone. Had this been a frigid forest, the oil on the child clone’s body would freeze quickly, unable to boil. Now it’s impossible to change the terrain. Hōzuki Susuki’s prepared Water Cannon Art is to prevent Su Xiao from moving swiftly, thereby changing the battlefield location.

Considering these characteristics, Su Xiao understood what the child clone was. It’s a famous Ninjutsu called Steam Danger Tyranny!

The Second Tsuchikage of Iwagakure Village was wrapped in bandages all over his body because he was injured by Steam Danger Tyranny, his skin burned by high temperatures, leading him to wrap himself like a mummy. This illustrates the immense destructive power of Steam Danger Tyranny.

Steam Danger Tyranny, the strongest Ninjutsu of the Second Generation Water Shadow, was known as the Ninjutsu of Infinite Explosion. As for why Hōzuki Susuki could use such a technique, the answer is simple: the Second Generation Water Shadow’s name was Hozuki Phantom Moon.

Hozuki Phantom Moon and Hōzuki Susuki, there might be a direct familial relationship between the two, making Ninjutsu inheritance unsurprising.
