Chapter 700: Chapter 10: Investment (4th update, dedicated to Alliance Hierarch ’Su Xiaochan~’)

”Father, I have been confessing with you for 23 minutes and 51 seconds. Normally, the shortest time for confession is 30 minutes, so no one will notice the situation here within 30 minutes. Just ten seconds ago, the nun in the church left, which means there are only two of us in the church, making it much more convenient. I ask, you answer.”

Su Xiao controlled the Boundary Line to wrap around the old priest’s neck, feeling the sharp Boundary Line, the old priest swallowed.

”Liu Dong Temple, are you sure?”

The old priest threw away the half-remaining phone in his hand, seemingly making some kind of decision, realizing that Su Xiao was not an ordinary person.

”Hm? What’s different about that place?”

”If it were in the past, it was just a local tourist attraction. But now, it’s heavily guarded. Forget humans, even Heroic Spirits that enter have no chance of returning.”

The old priest sighed, calming down, and knocked on the wooden board beside him.

”Young man, give me a cigarette.”

The old priest’s request surprised Su Xiao, but he still handed over a cigarette. Through the wooden board, he lit the cigarette for the old priest.

When coming to find Kotomine Lisei, Su Xiao did not immediately resort to force; instead, he controlled him only after he took out his phone. The reason for this choice was the current difficulty level of the Talent Awakening Task.

In the Holy Grail World’s difficulty, an LV.3 task is very likely not to involve combat. Do not think that a task’s simplicity means it can be completed with violence. Resorting to violence will only increase the task’s difficulty.

The old priest took a deep drag from the cigarette; he had quit smoking for many years.

”I can tell you how to enter Liu Dong Temple. I can say, aside from me, there are fewer than ten people who know how to enter there. But after entering, you must do something for me.”

”What is it?”

”If, I say if, you can come out alive, help me open the ’Exorcism Entity Barrier’ there. Opening the barrier from the inside is not difficult.”

The old priest tried to touch the Boundary Line on his neck, which obstructed his blood flow, so Su Xiao simply retracted it.

”Alright.”

As soon as Su Xiao finished speaking, a notification from Reincarnation Paradise appeared.

[You have contacted one of the ’keys’ to Liu Dong Temple: Father Kotomine Lisei, there are a total of eight ’key’ holders.]

[Notification: Father Kotomine Lisei will convert to a neutral character, with favorability fixed at friendly. From now on, you cannot attack, threaten, extort, etc., the old priest, and the old priest cannot deceive, threaten, attack, etc., you.]

[Notification: The hidden location Liu Dong Temple has been activated. It is extremely dangerous inside Liu Dong Temple, the Hunter must proceed with caution.]

[Notification: Kotomine Lisei is an important related figure to Liu Dong Temple.]

Receiving these strings of notifications, Su Xiao nodded. It was similar to what he guessed; low difficulty tasks have their own completion methods, but his luck was good to directly find someone related to Liu Dong Temple. Still, it wasn’t entirely due to luck; his previous deductions, though somewhat differing from reality, were fairly close.

”May I know how you are addressed?”

The old priest seemed to have relaxed, his tone becoming calm again.

”Is my name... important?”

”Right, it isn’t important. As long as you dare to enter Liu Dong Temple at this time, we are not in opposition.”

”Why?”

”You’ll understand once you are there. Remember one point, do not trust anyone in Liu Dong Temple, anyone. The people there are not right in the head; what they believe in is different from my beliefs. No, it cannot be called a belief.”

The old priest squinted his eyes, a rising curl of smoke between his fingers.

”Originally, I wanted my son to go there, to clear some things, but he is my late-born child. Whether selfish or not, I refuse to let him step there even once; that place is ’Hell.’”

Mentioning his son, the old priest unconsciously sat up; he was very satisfied with his son.

”What’s there exactly?”

Su Xiao realized the seriousness of the situation; Kotomine Lisei’s attitude changed drastically and started showing goodwill, which is definitely not a good sign.

This can mean only one thing: the old priest also wanted to go to Liu Dong Temple but did not dare. Now someone fearless has come, and the old priest of course warmly welcomes him, just short of setting off fireworks. Even if the visitor died just after entering Liu Dong Temple, it was no loss to the old priest.

”There’s one thing I want to confirm, how is your ability? Especially in terms of combat skills.”

The old priest might also be worried that Su Xiao would die just entering Liu Dong Temple.

”Hm, it’s decent enough.”

Su Xiao grabbed the wooden board beside him with his bare hands, with a crack, the board separating him from the old priest shattered. This showed a deep understanding of power.

Seeing Su Xiao break the wooden board as if tearing paper, the old priest looked contemplative, considering whether to ’invest’ in Su Xiao.

After a struggle, the old priest made up his mind; it’s rare to come across someone fearless, so he must make an investment.

”Follow me.”

The old priest pushed open the confessional door and walked towards the depths of the church, with Su Xiao following behind him.

In fact, it wasn’t only by seeking out the old priest that one could get this treatment; anyone with a ’key’ to Liu Dong Temple would react this way.

Among these people are the original abbot of Liu Dong Temple, a high-ranking member of the Magician Association, the Vice President of the Magician Association, an old man from Fuyuki City, and others, totaling eight people.

A month before the Fourth Holy Grail War began, Liu Dong Temple had already become a bargaining chip among major powers. In exchange for the safety of a city and the cessation of capturing ordinary people, a group of ’madmen’ obtained the place, until the end of the Fourth Holy Grail War.

During this time, any force daring to step into Liu Dong Temple, except those ’madmen,’ would be killed without mercy.

Su Xiao followed the old priest to a wall deep within the church.

The old priest glanced around as if afraid someone would see his next actions.

”Rest assured, there are no living beings around.”

Su Xiao signaled that the old priest could continue. Still, the old priest did not fully understand Su Xiao. After ensuring no one was around, he aligned the cross protruding from the Bible’s cover with a groove on the wall.

The cross on the Bible perfectly matched the groove.

With a click, the mechanism inside the wall was activated. Su Xiao eyed the wall ahead closely, presuming it to be a secret door.

Click~

Su Xiao’s foot suddenly lost its support as the stone slab underneath opened, causing him to fall. In that instant, his gaze sharpened, looking towards the old priest.

When Su Xiao saw that the old priest was also falling, he exhaled in relief.

The instant Su Xiao set his gaze, the old priest felt his hair stand on end.

After falling steadily for a few meters, Su Xiao felt the momentum slow, with an invisible energy supporting him.

Landing smoothly, the stone slabs above locked with a click, revealing a passageway leading to an unknown destination.

The lights on the wall illuminated, not by magic, but by the old priest pressing a switch on the wall.

A stone-paved corridor appeared, initially estimated to have been constructed over a hundred years ago. Due to the damp underground environment and poor ventilation, moss and similar plants covered the stones.

”I’ll take you to get the ’key’ and other necessary items for entering Liu Dong Temple. This is my personal secret chamber, do not steal anything.”

The old priest proceeded into the passage and, after a moment of hesitation, Su Xiao chose to follow.
