Chapter 656: Chapter 50: The Terrifying Big Pineapple

”Two cunning old foxes?”

Su Xiao was almost certain that the young girl wasn’t here to assassinate him.

”Yes, two cunning old foxes. The Red Clown and Chrollo have teamed up. They’re preparing for a large-scale attack on the auction house, and from their conversation, it seems like they want to kill the same person.”

The person Clown and the Leader want to kill is obviously Su Xiao. Vini isn’t aware of this yet; she only knows that Su Xiao holds a significant position within the Ten Old Men’s Power, which is why she came to him for cooperation.

”So, it’s those two teaming up.”

Su Xiao had a vague feeling that things were getting troublesome. Dealing with either Clown or the Leader alone wouldn’t be easy, but with them teaming up, it’s even worse.

”That’s pretty much how it is. If you need evidence, I can provide it. Not just me, most Contractors, except Clown, will be heading to the auction house. If the auction can’t proceed, no one can escape the all attributes -3 penalty.”

Vini stared intently at Su Xiao, a sense of unease subtly brewing in her heart.

”Cooperation, Clown, Travel Group Leader, unknown creatures...”

Su Xiao already understood the situation. At this time, Clown and the Leader were cooperating. Not only did they have the combat effectiveness of the Travel Group, but they also have a large number of unknown creatures at their command.

”If we are to cooperate, intelligence sharing is the most basic condition. What exactly are those unknown creatures?”

Su Xiao smiled at Vini, thinking she must be seeking cooperation out of desperation.

Suddenly, a handcrafted grenade appeared in Vini’s pale hand. This grenade was quite large and resembled a pineapple.

”Hey, I’m just here for cooperation, no need to stare at me like that. I’ve got goosebumps. Could it be you want to screw me? If not, maybe you intend to kill me.”

Vini raised her arm; she was feeling a bit of goosebumps now due to the close distance.

”I just thought of something.”

Su Xiao slowly drew out his Dragon Slash while speaking.

”What is it?”

”That time you sniped at me, it was quite a surprise that you dared show up in front of me. I bet sniping felt really thrilling for you, huh?”

As soon as Su Xiao finished speaking, Vini pulled the ring of the pineapple grenade in her hand.

”Although it’s said that sincerity should be shown by exposing one’s chest, if you take one more step, I’m letting go.”

Vini raised the pineapple grenade; although it didn’t look intimidating, it posed a threat to Su Xiao.

”See for yourself.”

Vini sent a short video using the Reincarnation Brand. Su Xiao opened the video, and after watching the mere forty-second clip, he sheathed the Dragon Slash.

”When do Clown and the others strike?”

”At nine sharp when the auction starts. Clown’s mind must be faulty. If the mission fails, he’ll also face the all attributes -3 penalty. Damn it.”

Vini stamped her foot in anger, unaware that this was the violators’ way of doing things.

Violators don’t care about completing the mainline mission. Except for the penalty of forced execution, they’d risk any punishment. They have other ways to reap benefits.

Take now, for example, if the Red Clown flattens the auction house causing the auction not to continue, he himself also incurs a penalty.

But Clown doesn’t care about that; he has other methods to offset the all attributes -3 penalty, with more benefits to follow.

While Clown gains advantages, the whole Hunter World Contractors would be in trouble. That’s why Reincarnation Paradise ordered Su Xiao to hunt down violators.

The motives of Reincarnation Paradise are unclear, but from its various actions, it seems to aim at Contractors growing stronger to undertake even more dangerous missions.

According to Su Xiao’s speculation, Reincarnation Paradise should benefit when Contractors complete a mission, making it a symbiotic relationship, so it won’t assign Contractors to suicide missions.

Violators disrupt this balance; they not only deceive Contractors but indirectly trouble Reincarnation Paradise too. Were it not for the rules, Reincarnation Paradise would directly execute violators. Therefore, Hunters were born to eliminate violators within the rules.

Contractor conflicts won’t be intervened by Reincarnation Paradise; it’s a form of survival of the fittest. But when violators directly interfere with Contractors completing missions, Reincarnation Paradise can’t tolerate that.

Red Clown must have done something to break the rules, otherwise, the main mission of the blue-haired girl wouldn’t suddenly change, causing all Contractors to stand on the same front line.

”I refuse the alliance, but I also won’t stop you from fighting the Red Clown or drive you out of the auction house.”

Su Xiao wasn’t accustomed to working closely with Contractors, fearing it might expose his identity.

”So it’s every man for himself? Fine, that’s actually what I wanted too. We’ve been adversaries before, so neither of us would trust the other with our back. Just let me set up defenses at the auction house.”

”Deal.”

”Deal.”

Vini stretched out her pale hand, seemingly wanting to shake hands with Su Xiao, but she still held the pineapple grenade in her other hand.

Su Xiao extended his hand as well, and Vini grinned, revealing neat little white teeth, her smile a tad cunning.

”On second thought, getting close to a close combat expert like you isn’t a delightful experience. What if you have inappropriate thoughts and slam me to the ground?”

Vini carefully reinserted the pin of the pineapple grenade, extremely cautious in storing it away.

”What’s that?”

Su Xiao was a bit curious since the ’grenade’ in the opponent’s hand could indeed threaten him.

Just as she was about to put away the large pineapple grenade, Vini’s interest was piqued again.

”This?” she said, raising the pineapple grenade in her hand: ”It’s my creation, the big pineapple PST3. Uh, in simple terms, inside it is a hydrogen bomb processed with space compression technology. Pull the pin, release the safety valve, and boom — you, me, and most of Yenko will vanish.”

Vini giggled, her face slightly flushed.

Su Xiao raised his brow; indeed, there were no normal people in the travel group within Reincarnation Paradise. If he had drawn his blade just now, this girl would have willingly blown them both up.

”Would I come talk to you if I wasn’t confident? I’m going to the vantage point to set up my cannon, and your sniper cannon isn’t romantic at all. Caliber is justice, caliber!”

Vini walked toward the room’s exit, turning her head to wink at Bu Bu Wang.

Bu Bu Wang tilted its head back, giving Vini a disdainful ”woof of disdain”.

”Ew—”

Vini’s hand froze on the door handle; she had been disdained by a ’Siberian Husky’.

”You just disdained me, didn’t you? You must have.”

Bu Bu Wang turned its dog’s head, clearly expressing: ”Yeah, I disdained you, so what.”

”Ew—”

Vini looked at Su Xiao, then at Bu Bu Wang.

”A cold guy and a Siberian Husky, what a combination, incredible. Oh, by the way, my name is Vini.”

Vini left the room, a little annoyed about being snubbed by a ’Siberian Husky’. Nonetheless, she achieved her goal of participating in defending the auction house.

At nine in the evening, Clown and the Leader would attack the auction house. The exact attack method wasn’t confirmed yet, but it’s unlikely they’d use hot weapons to bomb it.

The reason is simple. If these two dared to use hot weapons to bomb Yenko, a densely populated city, their lives wouldn’t last long. The Hunter’s Union, V5 Organization, and other departments would hunt them down, with their complete demise being the best outcome.

There was a rule in the Hunter World: you can’t massively slaughter civilians. If slaughters reach a certain number, the V5 Organization will act, a lesson learned from Contractors who shed blood.
