Chapter 668: Chapter 62: Leader

After a round of discussion, the five of them finalized their strategy.

Currently, the Clown and the Travel Group Leader are within a hotel half a kilometer away. Su Xiao is responsible for dealing with the Travel Group Leader, while the National Team Brothers will hold off Feitan, Machi, and the others. The Fans Girl will go alone to assassinate the Clown.

The situation has reached a major turning point. Initially, Su Xiao and his group were at a disadvantage, but now they are taking the initiative, all thanks to their advantage in intelligence.

The information provided by Bubu Wang is absolutely crucial. If they win this battle, Bubu Wang will undoubtedly be the MVP.

The five of them left the alley and quickly headed towards the hotel where the Clown and the others were.

The street was deathly silent, with only faint cries of Neerapan heard from afar.

”Stop.”

Fans Girl quickly entered a shop beside the street, with Su Xiao and the others following suit.

Dozens of seconds later, a large group of Neerapan ran past the street, seemingly searching for Su Xiao and the others.

Within the team of five, Fans Girl’s perception force was the most acute. As a femme fatale assassin, her perception was sharper than that of some mages with strong intelligence, perhaps only surpassed by Contractors specializing in perception type.

Fans Girl placed her finger on the ground, and after the Neerapan ran off, she nodded.

”All clear, no other Neerapan nearby, we can strike directly.”

Under the cover of night, the team advanced rapidly and soon reached the base of the hotel, an eight-story luxury building.

”How many people inside?”

Su Xiao looked at Fans Girl. Although his perception was not weak, it was still slightly inferior to hers.

”Five people, three on the first floor, one on the fourth floor, one on the top floor. If I didn’t perceive wrong, the Clown is on the top floor.”

”Are you sure?”

The National Team Brothers were itching for action. With a three-on-three situation, they didn’t fear even if the opponents were strong.

”I’m sure.”

”Then let’s go.”

The National Team Boss charged towards the hotel entrance.

With a crash, the hotel entrance was smashed open by the National Team Boss, with the second and third brothers running wildly behind, swinging their golden energy hammers like a demolition crew.

Su Xiao and Fans Girl were stunned. They exchanged a glance, and Fans Girl’s mouth twitched.

”These three idiots, my god, how did I successfully strike with them? It’s a miracle.”

Fans Girl was clearly quite upset; infiltration would have been the best choice at this time.

”Everyone has their own battle style.”

Su Xiao’s eyes showed a slight reluctance. He was always uneasy about Fans Girl going to assassinate the Clown, but due to the situation, if he didn’t hold off the Travel Group Leader, others wouldn’t participate in such a dangerous mission.

Su Xiao made a silent decision, planning to end the fight with the Travel Group Leader swiftly. In ten minutes, it would either be his death or the Leader’s.

The Boundary Line shot out from the bracer, the hook lock at its end embedding into the outer wall of the fourth floor. As it tightened, Su Xiao flew upwards.

Silently, he slipped through the window onto the fourth floor, which was a hotel ’parlor’. Inside were a row of gambling tables. It could be said to be a small casino, but the room was pitch black.

Whoosh!

An urgent whistling sound approached as a sharp, small object flew straight at him.

Su Xiao tilted his head to dodge, and a weapon resembling a large pin embedded itself into the wall behind him.

”Oh? Quite perceptive.”

With a click, the chandelier in the center of the fourth floor was turned on, flooding the room with light. There were two people, different from what Fans Girl had sensed.

”As you predicted, their target is that Red Clown, and someone would come to hold you off.”

A man with long, sleek black hair stood at the door, with several large pins sticking out of his neck.

”The Red Clown also used me as bait. However, he is the real bait.”

A man dressed in a white shirt with a cross tattoo on his forehead was seated at a gambling table. This was the Travel Group Leader, Chrollo Lucilfer.

As for the other person in the room, he was not a member of the Travel Group, but an assassin from the Zoldyck Family, Ilmi Zoldyck.

Ilmi Zoldyck was very strong, being the eldest son of the Zoldyck Family and an Operation System Nen Ability User.

Chrollo had already seen through the Clown’s plan, but his and the Clown’s goals were roughly the same: to kill Su Xiao.

Based on the fragmented information provided by the Clown, Chrollo deduced that Su Xiao would definitely come to assassinate the Clown. So, during the Nilapan Tribe’s siege of the auction site, the Leader did not show up but quietly waited, because he had another trump card: he had hired two groups of Zoldyck Family assassins, one to kill the Ten Old Man, and the other to kill Su Xiao.

Ilmi Zoldyck never went to assassinate the Ten Old Man; those were Maha Zoldyck and Coate Zoldyck. Ilmi stayed in Yukexin City all along, waiting, because the Leader’s entrusted task was not to assassinate the Ten Old Man but to kill Su Xiao.

”Did you anticipate today’s events?”

Ilmi Zoldyck glanced at Su Xiao and then looked at Chrollo.

”I’m not a god. I can’t predict everything. However, that prophecy poetry provided me a lot of information. According to the prophecy poetry, I will fall at the Hunter’s feet, dying, and the final line, ’Help from the Clown,’ I interpreted it in two ways: either the Clown would join us, or the Clown was originally a member of the Travel Group. After Hisoka fled, I dismissed this idea, and after meeting the Clown in person, I could determine that he would only help me to a certain extent, or rather, use me.”

Chrollo uttered a piece of difficult-to-understand information, which Ilmi Zoldyck, having read the prophecy poetry, understood.

”I understand, you hired me to avoid ’dying at the Hunter’s feet’?”

”Yes, now the ’Hunter’ is right at the door, and the prophecy poetry is not absolute. I choose to kill the Hunter.”

Chrollo stood up and advanced towards Su Xiao with Ilmi.

Su Xiao gauged Ilmi, noting that Fans Girl hadn’t sensed him, and likewise, neither had he.

At this moment, Ilmi seemed nonexistent, with the issue likely linked to those large pins embedded in his neck.

Ilmi pulled out several large pins from his neck, and telekinesis energy surged within him, having locked his own power — a risky maneuver.

As the two closed in on Su Xiao, Chrollo suddenly spoke.

”There’s a question, could you answer me?”

Su Xiao did not respond, while dozens of hexagonal energy shields appeared and floated around him.

”Wokim, Feitan, Nobunaga Hashama, Hero — you killed all four, didn’t you?”

Though the Leader knew the answer, he couldn’t help but confirm.

”Yes, I killed them.”

Upon getting a clear confirmation from Su Xiao, a tear rolled down the Leader’s right cheek.

”I see, I understand now.”

Boom!

The ground beneath the Leader’s feet shattered as he lunged with a strangely shaped dagger at Su Xiao, who was overcome with a chilling sensation. Being struck by that dagger would surely bring death.

Clink.

The dagger struck a counter shield, with other counter shields dispersing as Su Xiao’s long knife slashed towards the Leader’s throat.

A figure appeared at Su Xiao’s side; it was Ilmi. Ilmi unleashed a powerful side kick, but a counter shield instantly blocked Su Xiao’s waist.

With immense force, Su Xiao’s body was uncontrollably knocked backward. The counter shields gathered together, forming a sphere that protected him.

Bam!

Su Xiao crashed through the wall behind him, falling from the fourth floor.

As Su Xiao was mid-air and had yet to land, the Leader and Ilmi already dived down, one slashing with a dagger, the other hammering with bare fists, both assaulting the counter shield multiple times in an instant.

Whoosh~

Under attack, Su Xiao plummeted rapidly, crashing into the street below with a thunderous boom.

Despite being surrounded and at risk of being killed on the spot, Su Xiao stayed calm.

He had to quickly eliminate the Leader; once the Leader was dead, Ilmi wouldn’t oppose him. With the employer deceased, the Zoldyck Family wouldn’t continue the contract. However, was it easy to kill the Leader? The answer was that it was incredibly difficult, especially with Ilmi as a formidable ally.
