Chapter 687: Chapter 81: I Also Want Face

[You have entered the arena, please choose a mode.]

[Combat Mode/Spectator Mode]

Su Xiao chooses Combat Mode.

[Combat Mode selected, please choose a specific type of combat.]

[Solo Battle/Team Battle]

Su Xiao chooses Solo Battle. Although he could also choose Team Mode and be randomly matched with teammates, he is more accustomed to fighting alone.

As soon as Su Xiao finishes choosing a mode, Bubu Wang squeezes over to examine the screen ahead. Being curious, this fool also followed along.

[Matching an opponent for the Hunter...]

[Current Hunter ranking: 1230 (Second Tier).]

[Match successful, the Hunter will be teleported to the arena in 5 seconds. Please prepare yourself.]

After five seconds, the feeling of teleportation appears, and Bubu Wang in the rest pod immediately chooses to spectate.

Light and shadow flicker before Su Xiao’s eyes. When his vision restores, he finds himself on a 50×50 meter square arena with a transparent energy shield surrounding it, and beyond that, a tiered seating area for spectators.

Because Su Xiao is participating in a match within the top 5000 of the second tier, the spectator seats are almost completely filled.

”Wind King, I love you!!”

”Knights are the coolest.”

The screams of women reach Su Xiao, who turns to look towards the audience, only to find that over 80% are young women. He’s likely encountered another arena star, something he’s experienced many times before.

Arena stars earn a handsome income. Contractors with good looks and strong power can all potentially become arena stars.

Su Xiao looks at his opponent positioned more than ten meters away. His opponent is a handsome golden-haired, blue-eyed guy dressed in shiny silver armor, with a knight’s longsword embedded with several gemstones at his waist. However, the gemstones are purely decorative. This arena star’s shoulder-length golden hair is meticulously arranged, and his chin has short stubble, adding some masculinity to his fair face.

”Hello, I am the Wind King.”

The knight, Wind King, bows slightly to Su Xiao, with white gloves on his hands.

Su Xiao felt something strange at first glance, not because the opponent was being pretentious, but from his demeanor, it was clear that even if he wasn’t a prince of some small kingdom, he hailed from a family with a deep-rooted history.

This eerie feeling puzzles Su Xiao, and he turns his head to stare at him.

Wind King keeps smiling, waving to the girls in the audience as there are still a dozen seconds until the match starts, prompting another wave of screams.

While seeming to greet the audience, Wind King keeps his eyes on Su Xiao out the corner, a bad feeling seething within him.

A man with the lower half of his face covered by a red metal mask is staring at him, and although no threatening words are spoken, those calm eyes make Wind King’s throat dry.

”A slaughter like my brother? Not good.”

Wind King mutters, silently drawing the knight sword from his waist.

At the moment Wind King draws his knight sword, Su Xiao finally understands why his opponent gave him that strange feeling—his opponent had no ’scent of blood,’ not at all.

Here, ’scent of blood’ doesn’t refer to the smell of blood, but a special aura from prolonged slaughter.

Most Contractors carry a faint ’scent of blood,’ and someone like Su Xiao has it intensely enough to strike fear, which is why very few Contractors in the Derivative World dare to provoke Su Xiao, let alone challenge him to die.

[The match begins!]

Large words appear floating in the air, and the restrictions around Su Xiao are lifted.

Dragon Slash appears in his hand as Su Xiao steps on the ground, charging towards his opponent like a bullet shot from a cannon, with fragments of stone flying underfoot.

Boom!

The arena seems to explode like a bomb, with Su Xiao’s ferocity causing the audience to pause momentarily.

Su Xiao’s figure vanishes, appearing as a mere afterimage to Wind King. 60 agility points + the equipment effect of Acute Battle Boots, ’Rapid (Passive): running speed +27, kick technique speed +13’, make Su Xiao’s speed ghostly fast. He finally understands why Feitan in Hunter World, having agility attributes similar to his, was so fast.

Feeling the oncoming pressure in the wind, Wind King quickly raises the knight sword in hand, but it was too late.

A light blue energy shield strikes directly, with a loud bang, causing Wind King to stagger, nearly injuring himself with his own sword.

Wind King sees stars, and as his longsword instinctively slashes forward, a searing pain hits his abdomen, as if an iron foot sunk into his soft belly flesh.

Wind King vomits a mouthful of sour water, and just as he’s about to unleash a big move, a numbness spreads through his right arm, rendering it senseless.

Bam!

Wind King crashes to the arena floor, rolling like a gourd. At this moment, his only thought is that his opponent certainly isn’t at the 1000+ rank of the second tier, possibly not even top 100... No, below 30 is not an exaggeration.

Wind King is known in the arena, with many female fans, prompting him to make a decision: directly fighting and losing is acceptable, but being utterly thrashed is not, as he has his pride!

Wind King’s rolling slows, and just as he prepares to execute a stunning kip-up maneuver, transforming into the one-armed Fallen Soul Knight, a coldness wraps around his neck, his vision starting to spin.

Su Xiao shakes the blood from Dragon Slash, the blood turning into light before even touching the ground.

His combo technique is actually quite simple. He charges at high speed towards the opponent, activating an energy shield to slam into them.

As the opponent braces for the impact of the energy shield and prepares to defend, he immediately retracts the energy shield, launching a kick to the enemy’s belly and using Boundary Line to tether their weapon-wielding arm, slicing that arm off with a swift cut.

After severing the enemy’s arm, he would kick them away, and during the interval they flew through the air, Su Xiao would arrive at their landing spot to exploit a brief opening as they attempt to rise, incapacitating them instantly.

In Su Xiao’s view, incapacitating power divides into three levels:

First Level: Decapitation, safety rating five stars.

Second Level: Severed limbs, safety rating four stars.

Third Level: Severed waist, safety rating three stars.

...

On the arena.

With Su Xiao resolving his opponent so swiftly, the girls in the audience don’t react with anger or disdain but respond with a cheer.

The feeling of teleportation returns, and Su Xiao is back in the rest pod.

[Solo Battle has ended.]

[Result: Victory.]

[Sixty-one consecutive wins!]

[Hunter Ranking Advancement: Advanced from 1230 (Second Tier) to 1180 (Second Tier).]

Although Su Xiao has secured 61 consecutive wins, significant advancement in ranking isn’t achieved. The second tier differs from the first, often seen as a way for contractors to acclimate to Reincarnation Paradise, while the second tier represents the true beginning. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Now, Su Xiao feels energized, with significant strength improvement, so, of course, he plans to keep climbing the ranks.

The top ten in the first-tier offer rewards, and the second-tier does too, with rewards that are even richer. The tenth place reward is 3 freely allocatable attribute points, with higher ranks yielding greater rewards.

Such rewards can only be claimed once, and with no possibility of cheating in the arena, competition is therefore far more intense.

If one climbs from tenth to first place, the gained attribute points outweigh the yields from a Derivative World.
