Chapter 651: Chapter 45: ’Charcoal’ Demon God

If the original goal of the travel group was merely to rob the auction house, the death of four members has escalated the situation to a stage where neither side can let the other live.

Driving towards Yukexin City, before even entering Yukexin, Su Xiao saw the checkpoints set up on the edge of the town, put in place by the Ten Old Man.

Several gang members holding guns blocked the car from proceeding.

”Get out of the car...”

An ordinary gang member shouted angrily, but a nearby underboss kicked him on the backside.

”Let them through, quickly.”

Under the nodding and bowing farewell of the gang underboss, the car passed through.

The ordinary gang member who got kicked was somewhat frustrated but didn’t dare to say anything.

”Next time, check the license plate before stopping a car. You might want to die, but I don’t.”

...

The car slowly entered Yukexin City. Su Xiao didn’t go to find the Ten Old Man but instead found a hotel in a secluded part of the city.

He booked two rooms, tossed Black Mary onto the bed in one room, and left. After taking a shower in the other room, Su Xiao sat on the bed.

He took out the Eye of the Apostle, setting it to automatic alert mode.

Equipment Effect 3: Air Guard (Active): The Eye of the Apostle floats into the mid-air or high altitude, conducting scans within a half-kilometer range. If any suspicious creatures enter this range, the Eye of the Apostle will issue a pre-warning.

Note: Air Guard (Active) consumes 120 mana points each time, and the effect lasts for 12 hours.

Note: Air Guard (Active) can detect 82 types of stealth abilities, including invisibility, perception shielding, underground sneaking, magic energy shielding, etc.

Note: Air Guard (Active) has a cooldown time of 24 hours.

...

Su Xiao lay on the bed. Although his injuries were fully recovered, his mana value was almost completely exhausted, and his stamina was also heavily spent. Although he had previously injected ”Adrenaline” to relieve his fatigue state, physical exhaustion still needed sleep for recovery.

A moment later, Su Xiao fell asleep, with Dragon Slash placed by his bedside, ready to enter combat mode at any time.

While Su Xiao was recovering stamina through sleep, outside Yukexin City, within a secret mountain cave, the area of this cave was enormous. Obvious marks of excavation suggested it had been newly carved out in the past few days.

”We believe in the Holy Fire, we are the people of God...”

A man dressed in a white robe, with only one limb left, sat in a wheelchair. As he spoke, a red glow enveloped his body, with a dark red flame burning in his hand.

At this moment, at least a hundred people were kneeling inside the cave, most of them commoners, while some were merchants, craftsmen, and others.

The faces of these hundred people were filled with fervor, their eyes looking at the one-armed man brimmed with awe. The man was the ’Envoy of God,’ and they had all witnessed miracles firsthand, which were authentic miracles and not telekinesis abilities.

The atmosphere within the cave was both fervent and appeared insane. As the one-armed man delivered his impassioned speech, the flames on his body erupted, forming a massive phantom behind him.

The appearance of the phantom caused exclamations among the worshippers in the cave, causing everyone to bow their heads.

The fiery red phantom looked down upon the worshippers below, wearing a crown resembling bullhorns, its body made of lava, and its blood being molten rock.

This ’God’ was the Ninth Demon Envoy, previously a boss within the Void Abyss, known as: Alfred Lancelot Wickliffe Beren. Due to this seemingly endless name, most people referred to it as the Count of Purgatory.

At this moment, the Count of Purgatory yawned, a hint of resignation in its eyes as it communicated with the one-armed man through intention.

”Clown, I don’t need followers.”

The Count of Purgatory snorted, the word ’follower’ reminded it of certain unpleasant memories, like followers rebelling and stealing its weapon, after which it was hung up and whipped by another Black Abyss Lord, even being tossed onto a barbecue rack to roast meat using its heat...

”Brother Count, don’t mind these details.”

Red Clown chuckled softly, having learned roughly about this Demon God’s past. It was precisely because of this that he chose to summon the other party, knowing the other party’s brain didn’t function well.

”Don’t bloody call me Brother Count. I don’t know how many tiers higher I am than you. So what if you have backers, I...”

”Alright, Brother Count.”

”You...”

The Count of Purgatory exhaled a puff of hot smoke. Although it was summoned by the Red Clown, it couldn’t forcibly make an unfair contract with him. Red Clown possessed a contract with a tier so high that it frightened the Count of Purgatory, even though the contract was highly unstable and could disappear at any moment.

”Brother Count, have you considered that matter?”

Red Clown always wore a wide smile on his face, whether it was after being sliced by Su Xiao or facing a desperate situation.

”It’s not worthwhile, the other party are inheritors of a group of madmen, I advise you to stay away.”

”Madmen?”

”Madmen! A group of outsiders, not of our race, who need to be exterminated. For those guys, apart from those of the same human species or a few allied races, everyone else is an enemy, but they look down on mages, mages of any race.”

”Oh? Are they very strong?”

”Not just strong, but extremely strong. The former glory of the Human Race in the void was entirely created by them. Strangely, they never claimed kingship or interfered with human internal affairs. Later, they were ambushed by a group of mages allied with foreign races and eventually exterminated, leading to the Human Race’s decline, no longer active in the void.”

The Count of Purgatory seemed to recall a terrifying enemy, with light blue eyes, holding a long knife, stepping on its head, saying: ’Next time you dare to wreak havoc in our territory, I’ll chop off your head. We believe in no gods here, only ourselves. Get lost!’.

”So, are you scared?”

”Me scared? You’re talking nonsense! Who am I? I just occasionally...”

The cave was filled with scorching heat, and even a dead volcano beneath began to show signs of activity.

”Since you’re not afraid, let’s begin. The teleportation formation is almost set up. We’ve tested it before, and it indeed can summon creatures from that place. Although the summoned creatures are not very obedient, that’s related to their individual strength. This time, we choose weaker but numerous creatures.”

Red Clown glanced at a large array inside the cave. Even with only one arm left, it didn’t hinder his plans for revenge against a certain someone.

...

Early the next morning, at six o’clock, 200 kilometers outside of Yukexin.

This was an abandoned church; originally, there was a small town here. Natural disasters caused the town to decline. Over time, all the buildings collapsed, leaving only this relatively intact church.

Inside the abandoned church, a few people were either standing or sitting. These were all the members of the travel group except for the travel group leader: Feitan, Franklin, Pakunoda, Machi, Bonolenov, Kortopi, and Hisoka, totaling seven people.

Except for Hisoka, the expressions of the others were not good, especially Machi, whose face was full of fatigue and bore a faint scent of blood.

”So, aside from the leader, all the other members who didn’t arrive are dead?”

Feitan spoke. He had a high prestige within the travel group. In the original work, after the group leader was kidnapped, he made most of the decisions, demonstrating his position within the group.
