Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

”Now you know it’s a hassle, right?”

Watching Little Hei once again climb down in the dark, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but remind her. In reality, adding a person is not as simple as adding an NPC in a game, after all, NPCs don’t get sick, don’t need to relieve themselves, don’t complain, and certainly don’t get hungry. But people are different, and although this is a Mirror World, it’s clearly simulated based on reality, leading to......

”Of course it’s a hassle, but we can’t just leave her alone, can we?”

Little Hei scanned her surroundings cautiously, then swiftly took out a scimitar to disassemble the vent pipe’s grille before crawling in.

”Forget it, let’s talk about something good. Big Brother, what do you think I’ll get after I upgrade this time?”

”I’m really not sure, considering your world is......”

Faced with Little Hei’s question, Fang Zheng was also quite puzzled. Generally speaking, upgrading a world should relate to upgrading oneself, but how does this world upgrade Little Hei?

Uh...... could it be......

”Hehehe.”

Little Hei seemed to have thought of something as well, her eyes gleamed and she grinned proudly.

”Maybe after I upgrade, I’ll be able to drain you dry, Big Brother. If that happens, I’d be the number one in Heavenly Dao Palace! Wahahaha!”

If she wasn’t crouched in the ventilation duct right now, Little Hei would be tempted to stand with her hands on her hips and let out a triumphant laugh.

Fang Zheng has many in his harem, but each one is quite unique. However, there’s a well-known fact, which is that one or two people are completely incapable of satisfying Fang Zheng. After all, Fang Zheng’s the Time Dragon, and is notoriously difficult to handle. In fact, even an Heroic Spirit like Atalanta, or Kurumi’s clones, are ultimately left flustered and defeated after being worn out by Fang Zheng.

So nowadays everyone campaigns against Fang Zheng, the boss, by forming groups. Fang Zheng is well aware that his harem has specifically formed a group, constantly organizing to raid the boss. It’s basically like, ”Tonight Fang Zheng’s five-person team is forming, anyone available join with +++,” and those who are free respond with a 1......

Despite this, their record so far remains consistent; none has successfully cleared the raid.

Nevertheless, if Little Hei could drain Fang Zheng dry, she would gain exclusive rights to Fang Zheng, and if word got out... In Little Hei’s view, this is simply unmatched by anything else!

”You should stop dreaming.”

Confronting Little Hei’s delusions, Fang Zheng sighed in helplessness. Strengthening is fine, but can’t it move in a more positive direction? What’s the intended outcome of this strengthening? If it ends with you feeling good, where do I put my face? A grown man, drained by a little girl? Would it sound good if word got out? Even if it doesn’t, it doesn’t sound good either!

”Listen, if the final choice is a reward, you can’t select this.”

”Eh? Can’t I?”

”No, you can’t.”

Fang Zheng was genuinely worried about this. He’s well aware of Little Hei’s personality; she isn’t particularly concerned about becoming powerful, her whimsical nature is quite typical. Furthermore, the system certainly doesn’t reassure Fang Zheng; this rascal’s tendency for mischief is almost traditional. If it really intends for Little Hei to drain him dry, well... even then, Fang Zheng seems unable to do anything about this rascal!

MMP!

”Get back!”

As the two conversed, suddenly a shout rang out, startling Little Hei. She nervously peeked out toward the source of the sound and saw a man holding a gun, aiming forward, while his left arm held a girl close.

”What’s going on?”

Little Hei carefully dismantled the grille and poked her head out for a look. She had verified a while ago that the location was a large supermarket, hence choosing this path to enter. She avoided doors and windows for safety reasons—thus far, this decision seemed very wise.

It appeared to be a middle-aged man, wearing a T-shirt with a vicious look that clearly indicated he wasn’t a good person. Across from him stood several high school students, both male and female, looking frightened and stiffly staring at the man and the girl in his grasp.

”Brother———!”

The person captured by the burly man was a delicate, quiet girl with glasses and long, sleek black hair. She was held tightly in the man’s arms, her face pale, unsure of what to do. Meanwhile, the burly man stuck out his tongue to lick her neck, causing her to shiver.

”Get out, this is my territory!”

”Let go of my sister!”

”Dream on, I finally found a healthy woman here. You want food? Fine! Leave those two women behind!”

As the man spoke, he pointed his gun toward a blonde girl and a brunette girl across from him.

”Ugh, so there are people like this even in this world, huh.”

Seeing this, Little Hei widened her eyes in surprise.

”There’s plenty of women in the outside world, why look here?”

Little Hei’s question was understandable. Generally speaking, it’s normal to search for women in a zombie world. But the problem is, this world is different. The zombies here are not gory and bitten up; in fact, they’re proactive, and come from all walks of life and professions. There are streamers, female cops, nurses, and even those idol celebrities that appear on TV... As long as you aren’t afraid of being infected, you could easily dive in for some fun.

By the way, if you’re so fond of beauty, why fear infection?

”Over my dead body!”

Faced with the burly man’s threats, one boy who seemed average, middle-built, and emanated a humble aura of Yassassi clenched his fists—well, if all goes as expected, this should be this world’s ”protagonist.”

”Tsk tsk tsk, Big Brother, regretting it? Those girls are quite lovely.”

”So what? It’s just a Mirror World, you can’t bring people out.”

”That’s the beauty of it; no responsibilities attached!”

”Heh, just wait ’til we get back. I’ll teach you a lesson.”

Fang Zheng rolled his eyes, choosing not to continue Little Hei’s banter.

”Hurry up, if we drag this out any longer, the Young Lady upstairs might starve to death.”

”Oh, got it.”

Little Hei nodded, then immediately jumped down gracefully like a cat, landing on top of the supermarket shelves. The burly man was facing away from Little Hei, yelling at the people in front of him, completely unaware of the commotion behind him. Little Hei gripped his twin scimitars and pounced like a small leopard.

Then, the two scimitars crisscrossed left and right, pressing against the man’s neck from behind. Little Hei exerted force with a slice, then kicked the man’s bulky back with his legs, instantly rolling backward. The burly man let out a muffled ”whoosh” sound, then fell straight onto his back, becoming a corpse.

”Phew... done and dusted.”

Little Hei retracted the scimitars, then walked to the side of the burly man’s corpse, picked up the gun, and checked it.

”... The safety isn’t even off? Just trying to scare people?”

”Little Lian!!”

Seeing the burly man fall, the others hurried over, and the protagonist-type, ordinary-looking high school boy immediately hugged the girl in his arms, looking at the burly man in front of him, suddenly shocked.

”You killed him?”

”Any problem with that?”

Hearing the ugly high school boy’s question, Little Hei, busy searching for food, turned his head and glanced at him.

”Alright, let’s not say more.”

At this moment, another blonde girl came over and indicated for the ugly high school boy to shut up, then looked towards Little Hei.

”Hello, my name is Suimura. May I ask your name...?”

”Just call me Little Hei.”

Little Hei grabbed a backpack from the sports section and started stuffing it with water and food, pondering a moment before adding a tent...

”Little Hei, are you alone? Being alone is dangerous, especially for girls. Why not come with us?”

The blonde girl quickly began to persuade, and in fact, she was right, but...

”What do you think? I think it wouldn’t be bad to leave the Young Lady with them.”

Fang Zheng offered his suggestion.

”This group seems like the protagonist’s crew, leaving the Young Lady with them should guarantee safety, right?”

”Why not ask her, see what she thinks?”

Little Hei’s thoughts aligned with Fang Zheng’s on this matter—she quickly stuffed things into the bag, then flipped herself onto the counter, and climbed back into the ventilation duct with the backpack.

”Let me think about it, then I’ll give you an answer.”

With that, Little Hei disappeared from everyone’s sight with the backpack.

When Little Hei climbed back to the rooftop, the originally anxious Young Lady immediately breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing her return.

”You’re back!”

”Yeah, I’m back. I brought food, water, and some convenient supplies.”

Little Hei spoke while placing the backpack on the ground.

”By the way, I just encountered a group of survivors in the supermarket below.”

”Oh? Survivors?”

At this, the Young Lady’s eyes immediately brightened. Since the disaster began, she hadn’t seen any other survivors besides Little Hei. This made her anxious, even suspecting that the world might be left with only the two of them...

”Yes, a group of high school students, male and female. They seem like decent people. Do you want to join them?”

”Of course, I...”

Facing Little Hei’s inquiry, the Young Lady was quick to nod. However, she soon realized the issue.

”Little Hei, you’re not planning to go with them?”

”No, I’m not planning to. More people mean more targets. Safety might be guaranteed, but it also easily attracts danger.”

Little Hei shook her head. On the way back, she discussed it with Fang Zheng and decided against it. The reason was simple—the infection was too dangerous, and no one knew if it would manifest. The most important thing was that, compared to the zombie virus, this twisted virus was even more insidious.

The zombie virus’s outbreak is actually easy to detect—just see if someone bites others. Normally, people definitely don’t bite others; those who do are naturally zombies.

But this virus?

There are male and female students among them, all high schoolers; they might engage in stress-relief activities during their escape. The problem is, seeing them in the act, how do you determine if they’re clapping for love or if it’s an infection manifesting?

From a certain angle, this virus is more troublesome than the T-virus...

Hearing Little Hei’s response, the Young Lady’s originally bright eyes instantly became much dimmer.
