Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

The entire city was in chaos.

As Little Hei silently crossed the street, all she saw were crashed vehicles and burning ruins, yet...

”That’s strange, there are so few corpses.”

Glancing at the empty street, Little Hei whispered, and Fang Zheng nodded in agreement.

”Yes, be careful, I always feel that this doesn’t seem like an ordinary zombie world.”

Just as the two felt, the current world seemed a bit off. They had visited zombie worlds before, but a typical zombie world shouldn’t be like this. Although distant screams of panic and occasional explosions could be heard, the number of corpses was oddly low. While there were bodies on the streets, most were people who died in traffic accidents or explosions, and even blood was rare...

”—————!!”

Sharp screams and roars came from a nearby restaurant, prompting Little Hei to crouch down. She took out Merlin’s Gun, cautiously approached the restaurant, and peeked inside.

Then... what she saw left both Little Hei and Fang Zheng stunned.

Inside the restaurant, dozens of people were rampaging madly. Their eyes were bloodshot, looking like beasts completely devoid of reason, with clothes torn to shreds, almost indistinguishable from zombies. And at this moment, these zombies were savagely enjoying their prey—only this scene differed from typical PG-18 zombie horror movies of blood and gore, instead revealing a famous Japanese image wrapped in Mosaic...

”.........”

Silently lowering herself, Little Hei quickly fled, almost holding her breath as she escaped from the restaurant, into a deserted alley.

”What, what, what the hell was that!”

Reflecting on the scene she witnessed, Little Hei stammered, almost unable to find the words.

”Aren’t they zombies? Isn’t this supposed to be a zombie world?! What kind of hell was that! Zombies do eat people, sure, but not like that! Isn’t this more R-18 than PG-18 zombie world?!”

Holding her head and spinning in circles, Little Hei cursed through gritted teeth.

Indeed, this was definitely a zombie-themed world where people attacked by zombies would also become zombies. However, the scenes witnessed revealed that the definition of ”attack” by zombies in this world was starkly different from typical zombie flicks.

”It’s all your fault, big brother!”

”What does this have to do with me? How did it become my fault again?!”

Fang Zheng was also bewildered, hearing Little Hei blame him. He couldn’t stay calm.

”Because you’re such a pervert, big brother, that’s why I was teleported to this world!”

”Don’t joke around, this is your personal evolution world, I had never teleported to such a world before.”

Fang Zheng indicated he wouldn’t accept blame for this.

”Isn’t it because you’ve been thinking about all sorts of nonsense that you were teleported here? Look at Illya; she would never come here.”

”Huh? Big brother, you’re underestimating Illya there. Let me tell you, that little girl is pure on the outside but internally ravenous. Once you get eaten by her, she’ll swallow you whole—skin, bones, everything! She loves to play innocent!”

”Do people say those kinds of things about their own sisters?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was speechless.

”............”

”............”

The two of them fell silent for a moment.

”What do we do now? Should we quit?”

After a moment, Fang Zheng asked. If Illya or Natsuse were in this world, Fang Zheng would immediately opt out, choosing another after the evolution task cooldown. But with Little Hei, Fang Zheng thought it best to ask her, given her driving prowess in the Heavenly Dao Palace was second only to himself. He believed she might have some resistance to this world.

Additionally, from what Fang Zheng knew about systems, the weirder the world, the better the rewards. Like in instances, the first to clear gets the best loot; those after get lesser rewards.

Little Hei knew this too, so after hesitating a bit, she gritted her teeth.

”Continue.”

”Continue?”

”That’s right, as long as we don’t get caught we’ll be fine, even though this place is perverse, it is a zombie-themed world. In theory, as long as those perverse zombies don’t attack us, there shouldn’t be a problem.”

With a playful grin, Little Hei chimed.

”But aren’t you disappointed, big brother?”

”Disappointed in what?”

”Isn’t this world your dream, big brother? I just saw a lot of maid-uniformed zombies attacking men, hehehe, you’d certainly welcome them all, right?”

”Hahaha, if I revert to my true form, I’ll burn this ridiculous world down.”

After chatting briefly, the duo revised their plan.

”What now, big brother? This inappropriate zombie world seems doomed to expire.”

”Expired or not, I don’t know, but I do know our goal is to leave the city, the more we stay the higher the risk.”

”That’s true...”

Considering cities are populated areas, especially places like these, not to mention zombies here differ from those in other worlds—they don’t crave your flesh, but your body...

”However, this is only a Mirror World, not a real world, so you don’t need to worry too much, just treat it like a dream.”

”This really is a nightmare.”

After making her decision, Little Hei quickly sprang into action again. However, she learned from past experiences and decided against wandering the streets. After all, those zombies could be hiding anywhere, so she simply climbed onto the rooftops, embarking on an Assassin’s Creed-style journey of coming and going.

For an average ten-year-old kid, their legs would have probably turned to jelly by now. But Little Hei, being a Heroic Spirit, jumping off a hundred-story building is a walk in the park for her, so walking on rooftops is nothing unusual. Moreover, this is a Japanese city, where except for the skyscrapers in the city center, most buildings are not that tall. As an ARCHER, her experience is naturally plentiful; occupying high ground is something she does more than anyone else. So she easily jumped from wall to roof, leaving the city center far behind.

”Didn’t think it would be that simple.”

Walking on the rooftops as if on flat ground, Little Hei felt much more relaxed and immediately said, grinning.

”Honestly, big brother, this zombie world is freaky, but not very threatening.”

Throughout their journey, Fang Zheng and Little Hei have seen many scenes of zombies attacking humans, even zombies attacking other zombies. Of course, if shot as films, they’d probably be ”Lost Girl in the Alley.AVI” or ”Cycle X VictimY in the Library.MP4” or perhaps ”Amateur Outdoor PublicX.rmvb”... In short, there’s plenty of material.

Although, from this perspective, it’s pretty freaky, these zombies don’t seem to have mutation abilities like those in previous zombie worlds. Since these zombies are carnivorous and won’t climb walls and flip tables, the danger to Little Hei on the rooftops naturally approaches zero.

”Be careful; with the nature of this world, who knows if it’ll evolve into tentacles-type monsters. Remember, you are a Magical Girl.”

Fang Zheng wasn’t as optimistic as Little Hei. This world clearly seems like an unconventional zombie world, so considering the standard zombie world will have Lickers and Tyrants evolving, evolving into tentacle monsters in an unconventional zombie world seems standard too. Little Hei being this wild, if she gets herself into trouble, it’ll truly be a bad end.

”Ugh... I know, big brother, you’re just a jinx. If you hadn’t mentioned it, it might not have happened.”

Little Hei complained and continued forward, but this time, she was evidently more cautious.

However, just as Little Hei reached a shopping street, she suddenly caught a whimpering sound in her ears.

”Woo woo woo... woo woo woo...”

”What is this?”

Hearing this, Little Hei’s hackles instantly went up.

”Big brother, could it be a female ghost?”

”How could there be ghosts in a zombie world... Of course, I’m referring to a normal zombie world.”

”But right now, this isn’t a normal zombie world.”

Lowly muttering while she complained, Little Hei pulled out Merlin’s Gun, cautiously heading toward the source of the crying. She reached the roof’s edge and peeked down, soon discovering the sound.

There was a girl who appeared slightly older than Little Hei by two or three years, dressed in a white dress and black long skirt, wearing a sun hat, looking like a well-bred Young Lady. At this moment, she was curled up into a ball, hugging herself while continuously sobbing.

”It’s a survivor. Why isn’t she running? Staying here is very dangerous.”

Seeing this, Little Hei couldn’t help frowning. She knew that the zombies would attack whenever they saw a person. Naturally, for males, there might still be some enjoyment, but for females, it’s a nightmare. Moreover, attacked humans also turn into zombies to seek new prey. Right now, the city center has become akin to Sodom’s Hell, while outside was somewhat better, but it was only a matter of time before it spread.

Little Hei’s speed surpassed that of zombie spreading purely because she was playing Assassin’s Creed on the rooftops. Still, the advantage wasn’t that significant.

”I’m going to help her!”

”Wait a minute.”

But just as Little Hei wanted to go down, Fang Zheng stopped her.

”You’d better think about it first.”

”Think about it?”

”That’s right; right now, you are just an ordinary little girl, not a Heroic Spirit. Your Attribute Level is limited. Given this situation, you could still escape on your own. But if you bring someone along, you won’t be able to keep roof jumping, and the danger level will increase significantly.”

Indeed, Little Hei’s ability to tread rooftops easily comes entirely from her experience and skills as an ARCHER. The girl below was obviously just an ordinary person, so expecting her to jump around rooftops like Little Hei wasn’t realistic.

”If you want to escape together, you must use the ground, and it’s uncertain what might happen next. We also don’t know if she has been infected, as no one knows how this virus spreads. If we continue like this, we can safely leave the city. But if you introduce such an unstable element, things become uncertain.”

”I’m surprised.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Little Hei widened her eyes in astonishment.

”I thought you, big brother, would want to save her. After all, you always love helping these girls, don’t you?”

”If I were a person here and not just a gun, I would indeed help. But I’m only a gun right now, and besides, this is just a Mirror World, not the real world; she isn’t a real person. Moreover, compared to someone I don’t know, I naturally prioritize the safety of my adorable little girl at home.”

”Ugh........”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Little Hei lowered her head, blushing.

”Big brother, you’re being so sly saying that!”

”Hehehe......”

Facing Little Hei’s pouting, Fang Zheng chuckled. He could pretty much guess that this girl was evidently some sort of side quest. If Little Hei successfully escaped with her, there might be extra advantages to take. If it were a standard zombie world, Fang Zheng might have agreed, but in this twisted zombie world... he thought it’s better to play safe.

”I’ve decided.”

Little Hei was quite decisive, making up her mind immediately.

”I want to save her.”

”Really? Are you sure?”

”Of course, after all......”

Saying this, Little Hei cheerfully patted her chest.

”I am a champion of justice.”
