System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Although Chen Song has been in the emergency department for three months, Lin Qianlong is unaware that he is currently taking a break to do a project in Long County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture.

Moreover, Chen Song hadn’t previously mentioned Director Huang Haibo from internal medicine in detail to him, so Tong Yuan’an needs to assess the situation on his own.

The clinical aspect of the follow-up tendon surgery project will definitely be conducted in the emergency department, and now with Huang Haibo suddenly stepping in, Tong Yuan’an is also worried that rejecting him might lead to troubles.

As adults, everyone is pretty shrewd, so it’s better to nip any potential issues in the bud rather than being caught off guard.

Tong Yuan’an certainly won’t allow anyone else to covet this project and meddle in it.

Currently, this project is extremely important; if anyone tries to cause trouble, Tong Yuan’an doesn’t mind using the medical committee or other means to ”deal with” any potential troublemakers!

Upon hearing Tong Yuan’an’s strong reaction, Lin Qianlong quickly responded: ”Professor Tong, actually Director Huang is quite a decent person, but he does have a rather brash temper.”

”He doesn’t have the kind of background you might think, but he’s very meticulous, and most people can’t win an argument against him.”

”Many internal medicine directors in our hospital have been left in awkward situations with him; he’s someone we dare not provoke lightly.”

With just a few words, Lin Qianlong explained Huang Haibo clearly.

No background, but skilled at causing a stir, and he’s so capable at it that even directors with backgrounds can’t compete with him; that’s a genuine talent.

”Causing a stir? Like what?” Tong Yuan’an frowned.

He doesn’t appreciate people like this.

”Director Huang has also studied legal knowledge and currently holds a certificate.”

”He also runs his self-media account and knows quite a few lawyers from other places,” Lin Qianlong specifically emphasized these few words about foreign lawyers.

Generally speaking, foreign lawyers don’t fear offending locals; they don’t live here, they hit and run after a lawsuit, so what can you do about it?

A lawyer certificate, a self-media account, and connections with many foreign lawyers—this is a talent indeed.

No wonder most people can’t win an argument against him, and many are quite wary of Huang Haibo.

Tong Yuan’an asked again, ”Why did Director Huang think of minoring in legal studies?”

Persuading someone to study medicine invites disaster; persuading someone to study law is akin to a thousand cuts.

Goodness, how many grievances must Huang Haibo have endured to do this?

Lin Qianlong thought for a moment and said, ”That’s old news, Professor Tong. The director of our emergency department used to always come from the internal medicine group!”

”When Director Huang took the bar exam, legal work experience wasn’t required; a bachelor’s degree was enough to qualify.”

Lin Qianlong’s hints were quite subtle.

Tong Yuan’an had been in Long County for some time and knew that the County Hospital had shallow water with many crocodiles; every department faced targeting and suppression.

It’s not just Lu Cheng being ”suppressed,” nor Lu Cheng standing back up that will change this atmosphere.

With limited patients, teaching apprentices risks starving the master, so everyone keeps their skills hidden and won’t share outside their inner circle; if you want to learn, go elsewhere.

”What about the old director?” asked Tong Yuan’an.

”Heh... umm... Director Jiang left the industry due to personal issues,” said Lin Qianlong.

”Did he go in?” Tong Yuan’an understood what Lin Qianlong meant.

Lin Qianlong didn’t respond, and Tong Yuan’an understood his implication.

Sometimes, even professional clinical doctors don’t fully understand health and safety management regulations, and, unknowingly, what’s assumed to be normal could actually be illegal.

Lin Qianlong immediately said, ”But Professor Tong, you needn’t worry, I can assure you with confidence that Director Huang is a very upright person.”

”He’s not petty; he won’t cause trouble just because you’ve rejected him. Generally, it’s about passive defensive self-defense.”

”And what about the unusual cases?” Tong Yuan’an wasn’t easily convinced.

Lin Qianlong replied, ”There are no unusual cases. The emergency department director should have been Director Huang’s position, but he knew his character wasn’t suitable for being a director.”

”So I picked up the opportunity.”

”And to be honest, Professor Tong, Director Huang originally had a chance to move up, but Old Director Jiang blocked him.”

”But that’s all in the past century.”

”As for doing research, Director Huang might actually be quite helpful.”

Back in the early 2000s, when Tong Yuan’an was still in junior or senior high school, this story was already quite old.

Hearing all this, Tong Yuan’an began tapping the table, pondering something unknown.

...

12:40 PM.

Tong Yuan’an wandered into the internal medicine area and found that while Huang Haibo was doing rounds, he was scolding someone with particularly harsh words.

Of course, it wasn’t offensive language; he was just criticizing Dr. Du Yaqin from internal medicine, saying she was too old not to fully understand her studies.

”At the very least, you need to thoroughly research the guidelines; they are your greatest protection!” Huang Haibo emphasized, glancing sideways at Tong Yuan’an.

”Let’s leave it at that for now, Du Yaqin and Chen Yueping, you both should also read more, you’re experienced attending doctors, eligible for associate senior titles, but behaving like recent graduates.”

As Huang Haibo spoke, he moved his large head towards Tong Yuan’an’s direction, his expression easing: ”Professor Tong, when did you arrive?”

Tong Yuan’an replied, ”I just got here too, for the first time and trying to familiarize myself, Director Huang!”

”I also rotated through our hospital’s emergency department before.”

Doctors must rotate through the emergency department before getting a promotion. This is especially true in Xiangya Hospital, where every promotion requires making a significant contribution in the emergency department.

”Professor Tong, why not come to my office for a chat...” Huang Haibo’s tone was relatively polite.
