System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”This isn’t about responsibility right now; you need to call her family immediately. No matter what you plan to do in the future, we can’t determine her exact condition now. Only immediate family have the authority to be delegated.”

”Have you thought about what you’ll say to her parents if something happens?”

The young man thought seriously for a moment and decided to make a phone call first.

...

The bedside ultrasound came quickly, and the results were prompt.

Because it was discovered in time, the girl’s abdominal pain hadn’t lasted long and hadn’t reached the point of rupture.

Thus, the diagnosis of an ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tube was very clear.

With a clear diagnosis, the treatment was also defined.

The gynecology consultation call was made, and within ten minutes, the on-duty gynecologist came over and personally took the patient away.

But because the young man was a post-surgery patient, the situation was particularly unique; he couldn’t possibly go to gynecology to talk and sign with the gynecologist.

The family was still on the way, so gynecology had to follow emergency procedures, report to the general on-call, and have a talk and get a signature from the young man in the emergency department...

During the conversation, the young man quickly said, ”Please hurry with the surgery, I can pay for my girlfriend’s surgery fees.”

”I can also sign.”

”Do you have enough money?” The gynecologist asked bluntly.

”How much is the surgery fee?” The young man hesitated slightly.

”Pay 5,000 first.”

”I thought it would be more, no problem, I can transfer it right away, but I can’t move around easily. How about this: I’ll give you my phone and password, and you can help me transfer it?” The young man asked the gynecologist for advice.

The gynecologist looked at Lu Cheng.

Lu Cheng waved his hand, ”Sister, I’m his attending doctor; we can’t handle his money on our phone.”

If too much was transferred, Lu Cheng couldn’t explain it.

”How about I directly transfer 5,000 to you, could you take it back and pay with this money?”

”You can record a video of it.” The young man urgently came up with a compromise.

”That’s also fine.” The gynecologist nodded...

After the gynecologist and his girlfriend left, Lu Cheng started examining the young man again while asking, ”You’re doing online marketing, earning this much?”

”Dr. Lu, I’ve had good luck; I started doing Douyin and Kuaishou short video streaming early on, so I have over 50,000 friends across eight WeChat accounts.”

”Nowadays, in a good month, I can make over a hundred thousand, and in a bad month around seventy or eighty thousand. My girlfriend and I each manage several accounts; if we don’t feel like working, we just don’t...” The young man immediately dealt Lu Cheng a serious blow.

Lu Cheng paused his hand, his Adam’s apple moving, making a joke, ”So, bro, can you bring me in on this?”

The young man laughed kindly, ”Can’t do it now; you’ll get your account banned if you start streaming these days. I started streaming during the early days of Douyin; the regulations weren’t as strict as they are now...”

Lu Cheng then understood why the girl’s parents didn’t oppose her being with the boy without studying and even cohabiting before marriage.

”You seem fine; remember to eat later!”

”After your girlfriend’s surgery, don’t think about visiting her, get yourself well first.” Lu Cheng instructed.

”Can I just go see her?” The young man asked Lu Cheng, his eyes clear, ”Just for a bit.”

This was a young couple with good fortune; Lu Cheng turned his head with a firm tone, ”In any case, I won’t agree to let you go!”

Lu Cheng was leaving a trace; at least others in the ward heard his instruction.

The patient was an adult, not locked up; if he insisted on running out, if something happened, there were witnesses that Lu Cheng had given clear instructions.

Of course, it’s best if nothing happens.

But Lu Cheng would definitely not agree to let the young man visit his girlfriend; that’s a matter of principle.

...

Afternoon, 5:40 PM.

Zhang Tiesheng came to the doctor’s lounge after work to chat with Han Xiaoping and Lu Cheng.

Zhang Tiesheng’s tone was exaggerated, ”Achieving financial freedom at just twenty? Savings over a million? Bought two houses fully paid? And in our county too, that’s way too comfortable!”

Lu Cheng nodded, his tone amazed, ”Indeed, I just checked, and the young man’s watch costs over twenty thousand.”

”Riding the internet wave, it’s really making money.”

It’s fake not to be envious, but not worth envying; such achievements are hard to replicate.

”Da-da-da!”

The sound of knocking came from the lounge door.

Lu Cheng went over and opened the door.

Standing there was the young man from bed 3, and a pair of middle-aged couples, whose ages weren’t very advanced.

”Dr. Lu, these are my girlfriend’s parents; they’ve come specially to thank you.” Liu Zhongping introduced them to Lu Cheng, standing somewhat sloppily; it seemed he’d walked a lot today, and his surgery wound was faintly aching.

”Liu Zhongping, hurry back and rest; you just had surgery yesterday, why are you running around all the time?” Lu Cheng reproached lightly.

The middle-aged woman quickly added, ”Xiao Liu, indeed, you should go rest.”

”Dr. Lu, thank you very much; we didn’t do well, didn’t educate them properly, we’re lucky to have you this time.”

”Otherwise? Who knows how it would turn out.” The girl’s father said with a dark face, his reply rather unnatural.

In any case, being unmarried, pregnant, and ending up in the operating room is notorious in the county.

Since it’s his daughter, there’s no way his mood could be good.

”It’s no problem, no problem; everything went smoothly with the surgery, right?” Lu Cheng asked.

”Yes, because it was discovered early, the situation wasn’t severe; they did a minimally invasive procedure, and the doctor over there said it’s no big deal, just a small operation.”
