System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Why did my dad call you?” When Lu Cheng hung up the phone and walked into the kitchen, Mu Nanshu turned around and asked softly.

”Nothing much, he just told me that he’s coming back soon and told my dad to prepare some good wine to entertain him.” Lu Cheng said this way.

Mu Nanshu was startled upon hearing this: ”Could it be that my dad mentioned something to your parents? Are they going to rush our marriage?”

As an adult, Mu Nanshu naturally understood that once the elders of the two families got together, engagement, marriage, and even having children could all spiral out of one’s control.

Lu Cheng didn’t explain Mu Nanshu’s misunderstanding, just looked at him, and shook his head innocently: ”I really don’t know.”

Mu Nanshu quickly said: ”Actually, it’s not impossible, just shouldn’t be too hasty.”

”My parents will be back later, I’ll ask them properly then.”

Lu Cheng began to wash his hands: ”Alright, I’ll start chopping the vegetables, you can stir-fry over there...”

”Okay.”

...

Two and a half hours later, Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu were using Mu Nanshu’s computer.

Mu Nanshu was meticulously explaining to Lu Cheng about his bid template, detailing what function each part served and how it should be described.

’Welcome home!’ The smart lock suddenly sounded off.

Because their sitting posture was already normal, both Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu naturally stood up.

”Dad, Mom, Grandpa.” Mu Nanshu hurried to the door, then took Grandpa Mu’s hand.

”Hey, Xiao Shu...” Grandpa Mu was a short, plump man and he was smiling with deep wrinkles.

”Uncle, Auntie, Grandpa Mu.” Lu Cheng knew Mu Leng, Aunt Yan, and Boss Mu, so he greeted them respectfully.

Aunt Yan and Grandpa Mu both called out. ”Xiao Lu, have a seat...”

As Mu Leng and the others were changing into slippers, Mu Leng’s phone suddenly rang.

Seeing there wasn’t even a cup of water on the table where Mu Nanshu placed the computer, Yan Sangyue complained: ”Xiao Shu, you’re not very thoughtful, can’t you get Xiao Lu a glass of water?”

Mu Nanshu replied: ”What are you talking about, he has hands and feet, can’t he help himself?”

”Child, guests should be treated well.” Yan Sangyue quickly asked Lu Cheng: ”Xiao Lu, Auntie will get you some fruit.”

”Grandpa, would you like tea? Or maybe try some coffee? Drinking both tea and coffee is good for your health.” Mu Nanshu recommended to Grandpa...

Mu Leng was holding his shoes in his left hand and a phone in his right when his tone suddenly became serious: ”What? Drunk driving? Accident, the driver fled?”

”No matter if they ran or not, how badly is Old Ying hurt?”

Seeing that Mu Leng’s tone was getting more serious, Lu Cheng and the others turned their heads.

”Is there no time to transfer to the State? Renmin Hospital’s skills are average...”

”Are they in the emergency department? Alright, I’m just back in Long County, let me make a call and find out about the situation...”

”Xiao Lu, I’m heading to the hospital, an old friend of mine was injured.” Mu Leng knew Lu Cheng was a doctor at Renmin Hospital, but he considered Lu Cheng as a junior and a house guest, so he didn’t invite him along.

”Uncle, let me go with you, maybe I can help out.” Lu Cheng thought for a moment and replied.

Yan Sangyue also said: ”Yes, it would be better if Xiao Lu goes too.”

”Who is it?”

”Old Wei, Wei Ying.” Mu Leng replied.

Not many people could make Mu Leng so concerned, Wei Ying was one of them, another would probably be the Lu Nan family.

”Xiao Yue, Xiao Shu, you two stay here with Dad, I’m not sure when I’ll be back.” Mu Leng put his shoes back on.

...

In the passenger seat, Mu Leng was searching the contact list while saying: ”Xiao Lu, the person injured today is someone your father also knows.”

”He’s Old Wei whom we knew from doing business together, later he opened a glass factory in Long County, it did well for a few years, but now with the poor economy, it’s much quieter.”

”Uncle Wei Ying?” With Mu Leng’s explanation, Lu Cheng remembered he had even gone to Wei Ying’s house for dinner during high school.

But the relationship between Lu Nan family and Wei Ying wasn’t that close, they only mingled during holidays.

Unlike Mu Leng, who would report to Lu Nan family whenever he returned to Long County regardless of the time.

”Yes, that’s him.” Mu Leng nodded.

”He was biking and got hit by a drunk driver, the driver ran away...”

After speaking, Mu Leng continued: ”Hey, Dean Zeng, it’s me, I have a friend who got injured, currently in the emergency department.”

”Please arrange some good hands to help... Hey, thank you, really appreciate it, Dean Zeng...”

”Yes, he’s my brother.”

...

When Mu Leng and Lu Cheng arrived at the hospital, the patient was already in the operating room, duty doctor Du Daihua was talking with the family: ”The current situation is very serious, there is internal bleeding in the abdominal cavity.”

”This is very dangerous, we must perform exploratory surgery immediately, there’s no time to delay...”

Only one family member, a woman in her fifties, was present, and she panicked instantly: ”Then hurry and operate?”

”It’s best you report it to the police as well.” Du Daihua reminded.

”Save the person first, whether we report or not can be discussed later.” Mu Leng moved forward, answering swiftly!

At this moment, Lu Cheng squeezed into the side of the patient in the operating room.

With a quick look, he could tell it was a non-penetrating abdominal trauma, with abrasions on the arms and thighs, the patient’s blood pressure was low, and the blood oxygen saturation was around 90%, a typical frog belly...

Even though Lu Cheng was in casual clothes, everyone in the emergency department recognized him: ”Dr. Lu, how come?”
