System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lin Qianlong listened and unceremoniously shouted: ”Peng Haibo, do you have any shame left? Is this how you cultivate people?”

”Do you need me to dig out the things you’ve done in orthopedics?”

Peng Haibo said indifferently: ”The past is the past, the present is the present.”

”Director Lin, there’s no need to say all this to me. You never really considered Lu Cheng’s future.”

Peng Haibo then looked at Bao Liming and said: ”Director Bao, anyone with a discerning eye can see that Xiao Lu is a very talented surgeon, and his current skills are already approaching skilled.”

”My suggestion is to bring him back to our orthopedics department and let him lead a clinical group in hand surgery independently. This could deeply and comprehensively expand our hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities.”

”This is something the emergency department cannot achieve, and Director Lin certainly couldn’t either.”

”The emergency department doesn’t have specific endemic diseases.”

Lin Qianlong is only the director of emergency surgery, not general surgery, so he certainly cannot give Lu Cheng authority to lead a group.

There are so few patients in emergency surgery; how could a clinical group be formed?

The complex conditions in general surgery are not within Lin Qianlong’s ability to handle.

Peng Haibo naturally has his own considerations. If Tong Yuan’an gives up on Peng Kun and goes to the second ward, Peng Kun will have a particularly difficult time afterwards.

The only variable now is to shake Lu Cheng back to orthopedics to see if Tong Yuan’an will stay for Lu Cheng’s sake.

Although mainly mentoring Lu Cheng, Peng Kun can continue to learn along as well.

By cultivating Lu Cheng and suppressing a few second-generation members in the department, Peng Kun’s days might be somewhat easier, at least Lu Cheng’s character is relatively good.

Most importantly, Lu Cheng doesn’t have much backing, so when those second-generation members see no future and leave, Peng Kun still has a chance to exploit the situation.

Upon hearing Peng Haibo’s words, Bao Liming recalled that Lu Cheng’s capability isn’t limited to conducting a few surgeries; he can expand an entire subspecialty.

In the hospital, having someone capable of independently expanding a subspecialty is the achievement the medical office most wishes to see: ”Dr. Lu, since Director Peng says this in my presence, it represents his sincerity.”

”What’s your opinion?”

Bao Liming bypassed Lin Qianlong and directly asked Lu Cheng.

But actually, Lu Cheng knew that Peng Haibo’s words were directed at him.

Lu Cheng didn’t want to be a hypocritical scoundrel and said: ”Director Bao, I still have to thank Director Bao and Director Lin for their support, but personally, I’m not interested in this.”

Peng Haibo continued to press: ”Why?”

”Lu Cheng, it’s fine if you don’t want to come to orthopedics, but now, if you come to orthopedics, you’ll have people, and there are patients to treat. What else are you worried about?”

”What are you still concerned about?”

Lu Cheng was certain that Peng Haibo was pushed to a breaking point and thus had to urge him to confront the tensions with Xiang Kuihua and others as a way of recuperation.

Or rather, Peng Haibo just wants to drive him away...

Lu Cheng glanced at Peng Haibo, took a deep breath, and said with slight calmness: ”Director Peng, I started working at the hospital before I was twenty-six, and now it’s been a full five years.”

”Thanks to the unit for the care and nurture, and I’m not someone who pretends to be noble.”

”I suppose Director Peng knows that this year’s selection exam in the State has already begun. The requirement for the selection exam is that those who have worked at the grassroots level for five full years can sign up to participate.”

At these words, Peng Haibo paused, then looked at Lu Cheng with a disdainful expression like that of a bewildered victor.

Lu Cheng didn’t do what he expected, like disrupting by aligning with Xiang Kuihua or Executive Luo, nor did he accept his proposal to become a force for Tong Yuan’an to stay, instead, he drew his sword and ended it all.

Now not only Director Bao Liming from the medical office would have issues with Lu Cheng, but also Director Lin Qianlong whom Lu Cheng relies on might get estranged from Lu Cheng.

He didn’t speak sarcastically, but that foolish implication in his eyes spoke volumes.

Lu Cheng straightforwardly dug his own grave with no hesitation!

Lin Qianlong’s and Bao Liming’s expressions also suddenly changed.

Lin Qianlong was lamenting at this moment—

Lu Cheng, you can do these things, you could even leave, but you shouldn’t have revealed it in advance, right?

You’re not an idiot, are you?

Announcing in front of the previous unit that you’re going to switch jobs, isn’t this just self-inflicted provocation?

I have my own issues, why go meddling in orthopedics hand surgery equipment?

...

”Dr. Lu, regarding this career matter, I dare not give you much guidance or interference.”

Bao Liming continued to express: ”But considering the hospital’s perspective, we sincerely hope Dr. Lu that you can stay and continue to serve the patients in our Long County.”

”You know too that your current skills are indispensable in our Long County; no one can replace you...”

As one of the hospital leaders, Bao Liming must stand from the hospital’s perspective to say this.

Lu Cheng continued: ”Director Bao, it’s not really that I must leave; it’s just that I can’t carry out research projects in the county.”

”I’ve recently collaborated with Professor Tong Yuan’an of Xiangya Hospital and Professor Chen Song from Xiangya Second Hospital on several projects, currently unable to find a laboratory.”

”The initial animal experiments were mainly completed in the animal laboratory, and the subsequent clinical trials will also be conducted back at the County Hospital.”

After speaking, Lu Cheng glanced in Director Lin Qianlong’s direction: ”I’ve already informed Director Lin in advance about this point, and he is very supportive of my work.”
