System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Someone who even the vice-president can’t move must have the skills and strength.”

...

At this moment, Lu Cheng’s phone suddenly rang.

Lu Cheng picked it up and saw that there was no note.

The number was from Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, so Lu Cheng decided to answer it.

”Hello?” Lu Cheng’s voice was slightly doubtful.

”Hey, is this Xiao Lu? I’m Du Qiang from General Surgery. Where did you go? I specially came looking for you.” Du Qiang’s voice was very affable.

”Uh... Director Du, go ahead.” Lu Cheng replied.

”Xiao Lu, it’s like this, one of my relatives accidentally fell from the roof of their self-built house!~”

”They’re now in the operating room of the County Hospital.”

”The person is already in shock, and the situation is very complex. I was planning to ask Professor Chen to come take a look, but in the blink of an eye, Professor Chen was gone.”

”Could you make a call to invite Professor Chen? I’m begging you.” Du Qiang’s tone was slightly flattering and pleading.

It turns out Du Qiang had been trying to get himself to call Professor Chen for this reason.

Lu Cheng replied, ”Director Du, if you want to invite Professor Chen, you’ll have to ask our department’s Director Lin, right?”

”Director Lin said he called Professor Chen but no one answered.” Du Qiang replied politely.

”But if you call, Xiao Lu, Professor Chen should pick up.”

Lu Cheng explained, ”Director Lin called, but there was no answer. If I call now, there definitely won’t be any answer either.”

”It’s almost midnight, Director Du.”

Du Qiang said, ”Xiao Lu, give me a hand, please. I’m begging you.”

”You must have a way to contact Professor Chen.”

”Director Du, I can try calling, but it’ll probably be the same situation as Director Lin’s.” Lu Cheng said and then hung up the phone.

Lu Cheng only made the call after pulling over, but of course, Chen Song didn’t answer.

Lu Cheng then sent a message to Du Qiang.

Unexpectedly, just as Lu Cheng was about to drive off, Du Qiang called again: ”Xiao Lu, why don’t you go to Professor Chen’s house and call him?”

”The situation is indeed urgent, critically urgent, I’m begging you, Xiao Lu.”

”Really, it’s very urgent.” Du Qiang acted as if Lu Cheng had already agreed.

At this point, Lu Cheng finally spoke unceremoniously: ”Director Du, my dad is right next to me.”

Du Qiang paused: ”Dr. Lu, what do you mean?”

”Director Du, my dad is right next to me. I need to stay with him and have some late-night snacks together, he just got off work!”

”I really can’t leave.” Lu Cheng didn’t care what Du Qiang would think, explaining so bluntly.

What the hell? Asking me to go to Chen Song’s house to call him? Can’t you walk?

My dad is right here, I don’t need to fulfill my filial duties elsewhere.

”Dr. Lu, you can call Professor Chen for your friends, but not for others, right?” Du Qiang, seemingly insane, said.

”Director Du, is your money only for your children? Why don’t you donate it?”

”Is Professor Chen bound to me or is his house in my pocket?”

”Director Du? How old are you to say such things?” Lu Cheng retorted unceremoniously.

”Damn you!~!” Du Qiang cursed, then said, ”Answer the phone, quickly answer the phone...”

Du Qiang must have had two phones at hand.

Lu Cheng actively hung up...

Lu Cheng put away his phone and continued driving.

Mu Leng and Lu Nanjia both watched Lu Cheng do all this, and didn’t dwell on this topic.

Professor Chen helping is a favor, not helping is normal.

Lu Cheng is also asking for favors, which are scarce and shouldn’t be used recklessly.

Mu Leng then emphasized once more: ”Lu Nanjia, you really need to prepare some good wine.”

”But the wine for Professor Chen should be prepared personally by Wei Ying after he wakes up.”

Mu Leng indeed had some money and was doing well in Ji City, but that money is not enough to casually invite a professor from Xiangya Second Hospital.

It’s just that Mu Leng didn’t expect Lu Cheng actually could.

Mu Leng didn’t feel that Lu Cheng deliberately hired the General Surgery Director Du Qiang from Renmin Hospital to perform a play and add stakes in front of him.

Wei Ying is Du Qiang’s wife’s brother-in-law, and when Wei Ying got injured and arrived at the hospital, Du Qiang didn’t come immediately but called another on-duty doctor, there must be other pressing matters.

Lu Nanjia hesitated a bit: ”Xiao Lu, this emergency surgery?”

Lu Cheng replied, ”Dad, both Professor Chen and I have our own duty times. Patients can’t all be treated, can they?”

”Uncle Wei Ying is my uncle. Calling for him is what I as a nephew must do.”

”Director Du’s relatives are his own. Whether or not he can get hold of Professor Chen should be his problem to solve, not me doing him a favor.”

”How would I have such influence?”

”Even if Professor Chen and I have a good relationship, I can’t treat him as if he’s my personal servant, can I?”

”What do you think, Uncle Mu?” Lu Cheng turned to Mu Leng.

Mu Leng took a drag of his cigarette and replied, ”Old Lu, you’re like a dog catching mice, meddling in things you shouldn’t.”

”I think what Lu Cheng just said was great. His dad is sitting right in the back, and Du Qiang is not Lu Cheng’s dad.”

”Sending Lu Cheng to Professor Chen’s house to knock on the door? What’s the meaning of this?”

”He’s getting Lu Cheng into trouble.”

Hearing this, Lu Nanjia also stopped being conflicted.

Even though Du Qiang is Wei Ying’s brother-in-law and now seeks Lu Cheng’s help, Du Qiang’s intentions aren’t good; he actually wants to harm Lu Cheng, and that’s something Lu Nanjia can’t support.

Within a few seconds, Lu Cheng received a teasing message from Director Lin Qianlong: ”Director Du Qiang accidentally pushed the ’second wife’ off the rooftop, didn’t manage to agree on a price…”

Upon seeing this message, Lu Cheng understood the reason behind Du Qiang’s madness.
