System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

When Lin Qianlong heard about doing a research project, he was taken aback. What does something as advanced as a research project have to do with a County Hospital?

But when he heard Lu Cheng say it had been discussed with him in advance, Lin Qianlong quickly grasped the situation and patted his chest: ”Director Bao, yes, that’s right.”

”Dr. Lu did mention this to me.”

”Actually, I also know about Dr. Lu participating in the selection exam... After all, to do a research project, you need a teaching hospital and a university, where there are more complete laboratories...”

Upon hearing Lu Cheng talk about a research project, there must certainly be papers involved.

Lin Qianlong didn’t aim to be the first or second author; just having his name on an SCI paper would be enough to advance his career.

The young people publish a lot of SCI papers!

But for people of his generation, having an SCI paper, especially being affiliated with the County Hospital, even as a co-author, is extremely rare.

Whether Lu Cheng leaves or not doesn’t matter, it doesn’t affect his relationship with Lu Cheng.

Liu Xia suddenly glanced at Peng Haibo with a questioning look.

You didn’t mention there would be something like this coming up?

Lu Cheng working with Professor Tong Yuan’an on a clinical project?

Are you just idling in orthopedics, Peng Haibo? How did this end up with Lu Cheng?

Peng Haibo was also bewildered but thought it over carefully!

Peng Haibo decided that no matter what, he had to keep Tong Yuan’an here.

It would be best to keep the clinical project here too!

First, keep it here, as for when to start, that’s a separate issue.

Peng Haibo pointed to the table in front of Liu Xia, and then gestured towards himself.

Liu Xia understood Peng Haibo’s meaning and nodded lightly.

Bao Liming and others couldn’t care less about the small gestures between Peng Haibo and Liu Xia, and Bao Liming said, ”Xiao Lu, are you sure you can conduct the project in our hospital?”

Long County People’s Hospital had never done any projects, nor had any been conducted there, but that doesn’t mean they are unwilling.

It’s such great promotional material!

Lu Cheng nodded and said, ”Of course, but it would require the consent of the hospital’s medical department and Director Lin. We would have to apply for the permissions together.”

”Naturally. That’s of course. There’s no problem with that,” Bao Liming nodded without hesitation.

”That’s no problem, as long as we get our name listed as a collaborating unit.”

Lin Qianlong then stood up, leaned against Lu Cheng, and started discussing the general details of the collaboration with Bao Liming and Xie Liao.

...

Peng Haibo and Liu Xia watched as the group with Lu Cheng almost celebrated with champagne, and then left with a cool expression.

The plan to bring Lu Cheng back to orthopedics, or to pit him against Xiang Kuihua and others, was already impossible.

However, Lu Cheng had revealed more secrets; the kid is still immature, some things shouldn’t be said prematurely...

After Peng Haibo and Liu Xia left the office, Xie Liao sensibly saw them off.

Lin Qianlong then glanced at Lu Cheng and whispered, ”Xiao Lu, won’t there be any surprises with this collaboration?”

”What if Professor Tong Yuan’an doesn’t want to add our hospital’s name?”

That’s exactly what Bao Liming was considering: ”Yes, Xiao Lu, have you confirmed this with Professor Tong?”

Lu Cheng scratched his chin and said with a smile, ”If Professor Tong doesn’t agree, we just won’t add Xiangya Hospital’s name.”

”We can do it at Union Hospital where my girlfriend works and I work.”

Lu Cheng’s words left Bao Liming and Lin Qianlong even more bewildered...

Girlfriend, Union Hospital, what are these unfamiliar terms?

But remembering Lu Cheng’s recent stint at Union Hospital’s advanced training course, they suddenly understood.

E Province, Union Hospital, advanced training course, what does that have to do with you, a primary doctor at Long County People’s Hospital? Even if you had the money, you wouldn’t get in.

Yet Lu Cheng got in, isn’t that strange?

Lu Cheng has a girlfriend supporting him from behind, that makes sense now.

No wonder Lu Cheng can proceed fearlessly.

After a moment, Bao Liming gave a thumbs up to Lin Qianlong and said, ”Director Lin, your expenditure is truly worthwhile!!!”

Lu Cheng brought with him his own project and invited Professor Tong Yuan’an from Xiangya Hospital; this shocked everyone.

Lu Cheng was the one in the driver’s seat, choosing who to involve, rather than what they previously thought, him being led by Professor Tong Yuan’an.

Lu Cheng looked at Lin Qianlong and Bao Liming in confusion.

Lin Qianlong chuckled, and the pockmarks on his face almost seemed to jump: ”Director Bao, why bring this up?”

”Xiao Lu is one of our own, spending among ourselves doesn’t matter.”

”Director Bao, what’s going on?” Lu Cheng, seeing that Lin Qianlong wasn’t being explicit, pursued the question.

”This morning, Peng Haibo and Liu Xia came straight to our medical department, saying they couldn’t sign off on the reimbursement for your study leave.”

”For two reasons: firstly, because you’re attending an advanced orthopedic training course.”

”Secondly, you’re not from orthopedics.”

”So that’s why this morning unfolded as it did; they even tried to get you back into orthopedics. Director Lin said he would cover you personally!~”

The advanced nerve suture training course offered by Huazhong Union Hospital’s hand surgery department is indeed an orthopedic technical training course.

The hospital’s reimbursement policy requires a signature from the orthopedic department; without it, Lu Cheng really can’t get reimbursed, and it’s not the medical department making things difficult for Lu Cheng.

Hearing this, Lu Cheng nodded and said, ”Alright, Director Bao! I’ll go to the finance department later, and I won’t claim the reimbursement.”
