System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng chuckled and replied, ”Our department has doctors on duty too. I’m not on duty today, I’m here working overtime for surgery. Once I’m done here, I definitely need to rest a bit. In a few days, I’ll be on duty, and you can find me then.”

”Let’s go, we’ll wait for our son to come out first,” replied the middle-aged man.

He’s not the kind of person who would trouble Lu Cheng.

...

In the orthopedics department, Director Xiang Kuihua was smoking along with Executive Luo.

After blowing a smoke ring, Executive Luo asked, ”So, Xiang Kuihua, you’re saying Xiao Lu really performed the limb replantation surgery?”

Xiang Kuihua nodded and chuckled, ”I was involved throughout the surgery. What do those people in the emergency department know about limb replantation?”

”This Xiao Lu is quite a talent… making a living on the edge of a knife, and can live like this…”

Executive Luo scratched his ear and said, ”Xiang Kuihua, don’t forget, he wasn’t very happy when he was in our orthopedics department.”

Xiang Kuihua said, ”Brother Luo, how much does his happiness truly relate to us? Are we responsible for making him happy?”

”We’re all adults. Why should he be happy? Why doesn’t he make others happy?”

Executive Luo’s expression was somewhat conflicted, he glanced at Xiang Kuihua, and his tone was peculiar, ”Has Lu Cheng ever mentioned wanting to assist you in surgeries?”

”He has mentioned it, so what? Just because he says he wants to assist, he can assist?” Xiang Kuihua responded candidly.

”There’s no reason he can learn whatever he wants, right?”

”Brother Luo, you don’t need to overthink, Xiao Lu’s thoughts aren’t that complicated.”

”Of course!” Xiang Kuihua suddenly shifted his tone, ”Precisely because it’s not that complicated, it’s hard to bring him back.”

”Otherwise… sigh…”

Xiang Kuihua sighed deeply, refraining from mentioning ’performance’.

If the performance can’t be completed, it doesn’t count as performance.

Lu Cheng isn’t a complicated person, so even if you actively try to befriend him, it’s difficult for Lu Cheng to confide in you.

”Director Lin from the emergency department is benefiting…” Executive Luo flicked ash from his cigarette.

Just then, someone unexpectedly opened the door.

Executive Luo and Xiang Kuihua had nowhere to hide their cigarettes, while six or seven people stood outside the door, four of whom carried briefcases.

Tang Zhongqi, the deputy director from the hospital’s medical office, along with Deputy Director Xie Liao, were present. Tang Zhongqi asked, ”Is Director Xiang Kuihua available?”

Xiang Kuihua stubbed out his cigarette, stood up, greeted them with a smile, and offered his cigarette, ”Director Tang, Director Xie.”

The group refused, and Tang Zhongqi waved his hand, ”Director Xiang, these gentlemen are leaders from the County Health Bureau. They said they’ve received a complaint that our hospital is conducting surgeries beyond our level and violating regulations.”

Tang Zhongqi acted unfamiliar with Xiang Kuihua.

Xiang Kuihua paused and looked at the visitors, ”Director Tian?”

The visitors were led by Director Tian Qi from the law supervision section of the County Health Bureau, now the County Health and Wellness Bureau.

Xiang Kuihua did not recognize the other two but had shared meals with the director of the law supervision section several times.

”Dr. Xiang, we received a report today and came for a routine inquiry. The report was made via the 12345 hotline, and it was assigned to us.”

”According to the information provided by the informant, our Renmin Hospital allegedly conducted limb replantation surgery without the necessary qualifications. Is there such a thing?” Director Tian Qi is acquainted with Director Xiang Kuihua from orthopedics and knows Executive Luo.

Those within the system tend to meet frequently if there’s some connection.

Xiang Kuihua asked softly, ”Director Tian, why did the 12345 report directly lead you here?”

Director Tian Qi replied, ”It’s Director Tang from your hospital’s medical office who investigated today’s surgeries and traced it to the limb replantation on today’s surgery schedule.”

”According to the application form, we saw that you, Dr. Xiang, were one of the participating doctors and came to inquire about the specifics.”

Executive Luo also extinguished his cigarette and stepped forward with a welcoming smile, ”Leaders, since you’re in the department, why not come to the office for a while? I’ll ask the duty nurse to bring some tea. Work can be done gradually, and you can drink tea leisurely.”

”By the way, was it a 12345 complaint, or some other channel?”

”It’s hard for me to believe the assignment would come this quickly.”

Executive Luo’s gaze was fixed on Director Tian Qi’s eyes.

Director Tian Qi shrugged, ”Dr. Luo, the investigation is necessary.”

”The call was made by Director Peng Lisan of the office.”

The office is another organization under the County Health and Wellness Bureau.

Therefore, Director Tian Qi could only subtly hint at Executive Luo without explicit words.
