System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”It’s your Uncle Du’s brother-in-law, also the Director Du Qiang from your hospital. He still wants you, Xiao Lu, to help out. He’s in trouble over there.”

After He Shanshan started, she explained the situation clearly, both openly and implicitly.

The truth of the matter isn’t the ”second wife” family dispute as Director Lin Qianlong mentioned, but rather, Du Qiang’s son accidentally pushed someone off the roof during an argument with his girlfriend.

There’s a possibility of someone dying now.

Manslaughter is still murder, even though the girl was sent to the hospital immediately. Du Qiang used up all his connections, even leaving his brother-in-law Wei Ying without immediate surgery when he got injured at the hospital.

But the issue now is that neither Du Qiang nor the General Surgery department, or anyone in the hospital, could save the person.

Chen Song simply ignored the calls from the hospital...

Du Qiang called first thing, but Chen Song said he was having dinner. Later, Chen Song was summoned to the hospital by Lu Cheng, but now he’s nowhere to be found.

”Aunt, it’s not that I don’t want to help, I called, but Professor Chen isn’t answering.”

Lu Cheng then said, ”I’ve already troubled Professor Chen once, you can’t make me lose my dignity.”

”For Professor Chen, he came to the countryside to support our hospital’s medical and teach.”

”Working overtime is a favor, not working overtime is his duty.”

He Shanshan said, ”Xiao Lu, that’s how it usually is, but isn’t the situation special now?”

”Du Qiang’s child is also your Uncle Wei’s own nephew!”

”I can’t just watch him make an irreversible mistake because of a small error, can I? Xiao Lu.”

”If the girl can be saved, it shouldn’t be judged as harm. After all, it’s normal for young couples to have disputes.”

Lu Cheng replied, ”That’s not wrong, but Aunt He, you need to understand my relationship with Director Du.”

”Should I go knock on the door now???”

”Aunt He, do you think that’s appropriate?”

”Aunt He, you’re my aunt, do you think I should do that?”

He Shanshan’s phone was snatched away: ”Dr. Lu, hello, I’m Wei Ying’s sister, shamelessly posing as your little aunt.”

”Dr. Lu, can I beg you as your little aunt?”

”If you help with this, I’ll remember your kindness for a lifetime. I’d even kneel down for you.”

”Du Yanli is still young and hopes to join the army in the future...”

Lu Cheng said, ”Sorry, I can’t. I have to prioritize being a decent person.”

”Professor Chen is clearly exhausted and doesn’t want to work overtime anymore.”

”I can’t repeatedly act out of line! If today was the first time asking Professor Chen, I wouldn’t hesitate.”

”Dr. Lu!~ Listen to me...”

”No matter what, saving a life is of utmost importance, Professor Chen, as a doctor, would know your intention is to save a life.”

”Your Uncle Du and I just want to save people. No matter what, a life is innocent, right?” Wei Cheng tried to sound tactful.

Lu Cheng interrupted again, ”Well... little aunt, since you’re Uncle Wei Ying’s sister, you shouldn’t make things difficult for me at this time.”

”If you can persuade Professor Chen Song, that’s your achievement, don’t force me to do something improper, I’m not a kid anymore...”

”Please understand!~”

Lu Cheng unilaterally hung up the phone, took a deep breath, muted the phone, and continued to sleep.

Lu Cheng’s phone flashed for a while longer, then dimmed, no more calls came through.

...

September 28th, Monday, 5:49 PM, Long County North Station.

The autumn breeze brushed his face as Lu Cheng proactively opened the trunk to help Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an with their suitcases.

The National Day holiday arrangement in 2023 was from September 29th to October 6th, meaning from now on, Tong Yuan’an and Chen Song were already ’fully’ on holiday.

Both Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an had plans, taking their families out for travel. It’s said that both families planned to spend two days together in Beihai before continuing with their respective itineraries.

”Teacher Chen, Teacher Tong, you haven’t even had dinner, and you’re rushing to catch the train, isn’t it inappropriate to be on the road for hours on an empty stomach?”

”Someone who doesn’t know might think I’m being inconsiderate and not arranging a meal.” Lu Cheng pushed the two large boxes in the underground parking lot.

Chen Song proudly lifted his chin, ”Going hungry is our own choice, it’s deserved.”

”The main thing is we want to go back and have some good food, why don’t you also take a leave and join us?” Chen Song has stayed in Sha City for many years and has already acquired a Sha City palate.

The cuisine in Long County was a bit too heavy for them.

Lu Cheng straightforwardly said, ”Teacher Chen, I have to be on duty during the National Day holiday, I already took five days off last month, so it’s really unreasonable to take more.”

”When both teachers return, I’ll definitely prepare some good wine to welcome you back.”

In fact, if Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an were at their respective units, they wouldn’t be so relaxed even during the National Day holiday.

But during the countryside stay, the holidays were significantly freer.

”So let’s leave it at that, we’ll head to the security check, Xiao Lu, you can just go back.” Tong Yuan’an waved his chubby little hand.

”We’re so familiar, you don’t need to be formally courteous.”

”I need to save room to eat rabbit.” As Tong Yuan’an spoke, his mouth watered.

Lu Cheng didn’t heed Tong Yuan’an’s suggestion, ”Teacher Tong, since we’re already here, I’ll see you off.”

No matter how important work is, everyone longs for home.
