System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Director Chen, Dr. Lu said he just got lucky, there’s no real technique involved.”

”Sigh... maybe the diagnosis of an ectopic pregnancy still relies on early routine ultrasound scanning...” Zhao Ruifang sighed regretfully as she spoke on the phone.

Lu Cheng listened to Zhao Ruifang’s lament as she left, and glanced at his own physical examination skill.

[Physical Examination (Specialization 20/20)], there’s something there indeed.

Though it doesn’t appear extraordinary, it’s actually deeply integrated into my physical examination instincts.

...

Time flows like water, and in the blink of an eye, nearly a week had passed.

October 7th, Wednesday, the first working day after National Day, weather: Lu Cheng doesn’t know!

At 5:40 in the morning, Lu Cheng rubbed his eyes as he walked out of the emergency operating room!

Passing through the corridor, Lu Cheng noticed that outside the corridor it was windy but not raining.

Lu Cheng’s eyes were a bit blurry, almost at the extreme of exhaustion.

Since he was on duty for a surgery shift on October 1st, Lu Cheng only took a day off on the 2nd.

Starting from the 3rd till now, Lu Cheng hasn’t left the hospital or the department, with various emergencies coming one after another.

Lu Cheng endured the daytime shift in the clinic on the 3rd, the night shift on the 4th, the daytime shift in the ward on the 5th, and the night shift on the 6th.

Actually, any shift would do, but for certain surgeries, Lu Cheng had to be the lead surgeon, and the surgery shifts partnered with Lu Cheng had to cover for him for shift duty or sit in the clinic.

Appendicitis, gallstones, and cholangitis were manageable, but if it were tendon injuries, spleen injuries, or gallbladder injuries requiring gallbladder preservation surgery, Lu Cheng had to personally attend...

Professor Chen Song and Professor Tong Yuan’an arrived in Long County on the 6th, but Lu Cheng didn’t have the time to receive them.

Originally, Mu Nanshu promised to come and find Lu Cheng for fun on the 5th; Mu Nanshu did come back, but Lu Cheng hadn’t left the hospital.

”3456, at least a full ninety-six hours!” Lu Cheng calculated the time himself, feeling a bit numb.

Immediately, Lu Cheng sent a message to Director Lin Qianlong: ”Director Lin, I have to take a day off today, I really can’t hold on any longer.”

After sending the message, regardless of when Director Lin would see it, Lu Cheng ran back to the doctor’s office to start writing postoperative instructions and surgery records—

While writing, Lu Cheng kept himself alert by looking at his own panel, motivating himself with his recent gains, ensuring he didn’t fall asleep.

[Skill Points Remaining: 3.2]

The entire holiday, nearly sleepless nights of surgeries earned skill points were all spent on professional techniques.

They weren’t helpful at all for the upcoming microsurgery skills competition—

Of course, the results were very fruitful too.

In these few days, Lu Cheng saved a hand, two fingers!

Two gallbladders, three spleens were preserved!

Whether it’s worth it or not is another story; anyway, in the past few days, Lu Cheng has heard patients and their families’ thanks to the point of developing calluses in his ears.

After finishing prescribing the orders, even after clicking for review and submission, Lu Cheng, trying to force himself to look at the panel, couldn’t hold on and fell asleep in his chair, snoring loudly.

Two minutes later, Yao Lina, on duty, knocked on the door: ”Dr. Lu, you have a medication order time entered incorrectly...”

Seeing Lu Cheng’s head drooping to one side, Yao Lina instinctively thought if Lu Cheng had been taken away.

But hearing Lu Cheng’s thunderous snoring, Yao Lina confirmed Lu Cheng was still alive and went out to find Han Xiaoping from the emergency night shift to help correct the order.

This slumber, Lu Cheng slept straight until eight-thirty in the morning, awakening slowly from the chair.

The department was already crowded, but everyone was tiptoeing around.

Even the discussion between Lin Qianlong and Zhang Tiesheng was in whisper-like tones, afraid of disturbing Lu Cheng’s sleep.

Of course, after Lu Cheng scanned through the people, his gaze settled on Tong Yuan’an!

”Teacher Tong...” Lu Cheng quickly stood up to greet him.

”Awake?” Tong Yuan’an raised his brows at Lu Cheng and asked.

Lu Cheng nodded, rubbing his eyes fiercely: ”Sorry, Teacher Tong, I overslept.”

Tong Yuan’an looked at Lu Cheng disdainfully: ”This isn’t oversleeping at all? You’ve practically been killing yourself.”

”You’re used to being poor at home, so you don’t want to go back and waste electricity, right?” Tong Yuan’an’s tone was sharp, dripping with sarcasm.

Lin Qianlong immediately self-examined, saying: ”Professor Tong, it’s our issue, our scheduling isn’t very reasonable.”

”We didn’t consider everything thoroughly.”

Tong Yuan’an said: ”Since many surgeries need Xiao Lu to perform, don’t schedule such basic shifts for him, or you’re working him to death.”

”He has to cover regular ward shifts and be ready for surgical shifts at all times.”

”So that’s how it is, he can’t go home for four or five days, who knows if he’s sleeping or not.”

Lin Qianlong replied: ”Right, right, right, Professor Tong, it’s our issue, I’ll report to the medical department right away to adjust the schedule.”

Tong Yuan’an’s voice was cold and detached: ”Since the schedule is out, then execute it strictly. If it can’t be managed, then don’t do it.”

”Can all the surgeries be completed?”

”What does it mean to keep changing this month’s schedule?”

Lu Cheng, who had been silent, responded: ”Director Lin, is it my surgery shift today?”

Lin Qianlong immediately gestured with a big hand, saying: ”Xiao Lu, you go rest, I will take your place today and stay here for twenty-four hours, I mean it.”
