The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1238: Chapter 1238: Big shots gather in Beijing, playing a game of mahjong?

He remembered that this world-class competition was tough to even get into the group stage, with top contestants from 16 countries vying for just one spot.

So Nathalie Quinlan was the first place in the preliminary rounds?

Hendrik Zachmann’s mind buzzed, and a string in his mind was pulled tight.

In his extreme shock, he didn’t even have the thought to talk to Khendy Lordon’s bodyguard.

The bodyguard just came down from the elevator to relay Khendy Lordon’s message that he wouldn’t meet them and walked away with a high and cold demeanor after saying it.

Evron Barness had already guessed that the big boss wouldn’t see them. It was only after the bodyguard left that he raised an eyebrow and said, ”As expected, he doesn’t have time to bother with us.”

This is the ending we knew would come, right!

Khendy Lordon, who is he?

He sits on the throne of the Maybelissa Group, young, yet already hinting at a trend of taking the top seat in the Illegal Zone.

A man like Khendy Lordon lacks neither money, power, nor influence.

There’s really no need for him to meet with Hendrik Zachmann and myself, mere small fry.

Evron Barness never expected Khendy Lordon would meet them, so he wasn’t disappointed at this point. He withdrew his gaze and pressed Hendrik Zachmann’s shoulder, asking casually, ”Hendrik, shall we go for a drink later?”

Having come out, Evron Barness thought it would be quite boring to do nothing and head back, so he simply invited Hendrik Zachmann for a cup of tea.

Who knew Hendrik Zachmann would furrow his brows, brush off his hand, and irritably reject him: ”I’m not going; you go ahead.”

Evron Barness: ”?”

Seeing Evron Barness’ bewildered face, Hendrik Zachmann’s mood worsened, wondering how to tell him about his biological sister’s antics. After pressing his lips together, he was barely able to say, ”There are some family issues I need to attend to, I don’t have time today. Let’s talk about it another day.”

”Didn’t you say there was nothing wrong with your family?” Evron Barness recalled him saying he didn’t even have time to eat with Nathalie Quinlan.

Hendrik Zachmann was really embarrassed to mention it, and his eyes darted to the side: ”...It’s just a sudden thing.”

Evron Barness wasn’t foolish; he could easily see that Hendrik Zachmann was feeling agitated and his mind wasn’t there. He didn’t push Hendrik Zachmann further and waved his hand casually, saying, ”Forget it, you deal with your stuff first. I’m not going for a drink either; I’ll head back to keep my grandfather company.”

Feeling guilty, Hendrik Zachmann reached out to pat his shoulder: ”I’ll treat you another day.”

”OK.” Evron Barness waved at him, indicating for him to leave first: ”Let’s talk about it another day.”

An even deeper guilt welled up in Hendrik Zachmann’s eyes: ”I’ll call you in advance next time.”

Without waiting for Evron Barness to reply, Hendrik Zachmann, with issues pressing on his mind, was impatiently eager to find someone to ask about the situation, furrowing his brows as he withdrew his hand and hurriedly told Evron Barness, ”I’m not talking with you anymore; I’m leaving first today, we’ll arrange another time.”

”Bye-bye.”

Evron Barness waved at him, watching Hendrik Zachmann’s departing figure vanish into the hotel lobby before withdrawing his gaze, intending to head back himself.

Just as he did, his peripheral vision caught sight of the elevator opening, and out came a valiant and spirited figure striding out.

Wearing a surprised expression, Evron Barness watched the woman exit the elevator and leave the hotel at a brisk pace.

It was only after she left that he whispered to himself, ”What’s going on? Why are all the big wigs from the Illegal Zone suddenly flocking to Beijing? Are they gathering here to play mahjong?”

Seeing Valencia Jett’s quickly departing figure, he thought it over and decided to first go back and negotiate with Owen Yapiter.

The big boss of Maybelissa’s appearance in the country this time was ostensibly to bid farewell to Mr. Wilmar.

But after the condolence visit to the Wilmar Family, he had no intention of leaving, which was a reason for contemplation.

He differs from Hendrik Zachmann.

After all, his grandfather still held substantial power within the Barness Family, and his sensitivity in certain areas was higher than Hendrik Zachmann’s.

Evron Barness didn’t delay any longer and swiftly left with his phone.
