The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1222: Chapter 1222: The Day of the Match

”This competition has always been intense.”

After Nathalie Quinlan finished speaking, her phone lit up. She saw a call coming in from Alfred Garland, probably indicating that Alfred and Amadeus Yancey were already waiting for her outside the hotel. Nathalie picked up her phone, pulled out her chair, and said to Audrick Zachmann, ”Let’s go, I’ll install the software for you at your place first.”

”Alright.”

Audrick eagerly picked up the coat from the chair and got up, following behind her as they walked together.

*

Nathalie Quinlan was going to participate in the competition.

The Rhine apartment has been much quieter these days.

Both Sadam Vinson and Audrick Zachmann knew about Nathalie partaking in the competition, so they usually wouldn’t come to the apartment to disturb her.

Nathalie was also focused on preparing for the competition.

For three whole days, she was basically in her room watching previous videos of the competition.

Because the qualifying round wasn’t a group event.

Each year’s theme for the qualifying round was different; they would give you a theme and then have the participants create software based on it.

The theme changes every year.

No one knew what this year’s qualifying theme would be.

Since Nathalie decided to enter, teachers from domestic software organizations have added her on WhatsApp and sent her a variety of their guesses for the theme.

For example, the recently popular live streaming software.

Accelerators.

Then communication.

Nathalie looked through them and also made her guesses based on previous years’ themes, selecting two popular topics to prepare in advance.

September 8th.

The weather in Beijing was clear, with not a cloud in the sky.

At Tsinghua University, as usual, classes were attended by the respective departments, and those who could rest did so.

But the teachers and students in each department were in completely different states, as if a string was tightly stretched in their minds.

From nine in the morning, cars began driving onto campus, with people in formal business attire entering an arts building next to the Chinese Medicine department.

There were also people who saw staff moving computers inside.

Velnisa Irvin, who was taking elective advanced mathematics, had a class in the morning, so she got up early to have breakfast in the school’s dining hall. Holding her book, she passed by the teaching building and happened to encounter several students walking towards her, discussing happily.

”I just saw the art building next to the Chinese Medicine department being blocked off by the school’s security guards. People were not allowed to enter since this morning.”

”I know about this. Our school has a freshman who got into the world software competition. I heard the qualifying round is online, so to prevent cheating, they’ve blocked off the art building.”

”This competition seems to be held domestically this year. If we can make it to the group stage, our school will really stand out!”

”Yes, every year the Southern University compares their computer science with ours, if we can achieve good results in this competition...”

When Velnisa Irvin heard someone mention ’Nathalie Quinlan’ and ’Chinese Medicine department’, her hand holding the book unconsciously tightened, almost wrinkling the book in her arms.

Her face was sallow, with heavy dark circles under her eyes, obvious signs that she hadn’t rested well these past few days.

Her expression was so gloomy it seemed to be able to squeeze water from it, as she coldly looked at the blocked-off art building in the distance, biting her lips tightly.

Clearly...

Clearly, she also made it into the competition.

Yet the final committee chose Nathalie and not her, and now the entire school discussed this event, but no one mentioned her name when talking about the competition.

Remembering she was also in the Chinese Medicine department.

Also a freshman!

Among the three people chosen in the school selection, one of them was her!

Velnisa Irvin almost grinded her teeth to pieces as she stood there, pulling out her old-fashioned phone, its edges worn with use.

Checking if there were any new messages on it.

However, there were none.

Not a single new message!
