Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

The entire structure of the two spine peak cannons on the left and right of the mother ship lit up with an aura of energy surge.

Arcs at the cannon muzzle began to flicker violently.

However, at the moment, no projectiles were fired; instead, structural transformations were occurring at the cannon head amidst the arcs.

The Mechanical Race quickly completed the structural adjustments of the cannon head.

At the moment when the arcs flickered again, countless threaded steel needle-like projectiles were accelerated to the limit under the mass extinction effect, shooting toward the Insect Race Fleet like a torrential rain.

Although the length of these steel needle projectiles was about three meters, with a diameter close to forty centimeters, they were quite large.

Yet, in the dark space, the Insect Race had no effective means to detect these fast-moving projectiles without any thermal reaction.

They could only rely on luck to evade them.

But even a slight graze would allow the terrifying speed of the projectiles to tear apart the shell of an Insect Race Cruiser, taking away large portions of tissue and flesh.

Even the reinforced black shell couldn’t offer the slightest protection.

And if these steel needle projectiles hit directly, the Insect Race warships would be completely penetrated.

The terrifying kinetic energy and spiraling projectiles would utterly tear apart all biological structures inside the Insect Race Cruiser.

These projectiles could even maintain momentum, penetrating through one warship and continuing through another.

A body length of 1,200 meters couldn’t stop the terrifying power of these solid bullet projectiles.

Chen Ming frowned upon seeing this situation.

Not because of the damage to the Insect Race Fleet — as long as the critical structure isn’t damaged or directly hit, those injuries can quickly recover with a large supply of Energy Crystals.

He frowned because the weapon’s power seemed not limited to this.

Being able to destroy a Cruiser with a single shot already qualifies it as a Main Level weapon.

However, the structural changes at the cannon head during the arcs’ flickering indicated something more.

Clearly, this spine peak cannon head has another mode.

Chen Ming analyzed visual information brought back by the Insect Race’s compound eyes, continuously assessing the structure of the spine peak cannon’s muzzle.

He found the design of the structure to be relatively simple, a kind of deformable nested system that combines two weapons with similar properties, letting them utilize each other’s structure.

One structure, as seen now, fires numerous steel needles accelerated to the limit.

Somewhat similar to a weapon Chen Ming once knew, called Storm Needle, but stronger.

While the other weapon structure appears to be able to fire a super-large solid projectile over a hundred meters in diameter.

Similar to a Gauss Cannon firing large solid projectiles.

Gauss Cannon projectiles generally have a diameter of around twenty meters.

Now, a projectile with a diameter of a hundred meters, its volume increased 125 times, the mass likely increased correspondingly, or more.

Accelerating a solid projectile of this size to the utmost, its power...

Chen Ming dared not imagine.

Yet the hit rate of this thing should be problematic.

It would be effective against Main Ships of the same level or for attacking some fixed targets.

Against a sea of cruisers, this is not practical.

That’s why the Mechanical Race Mother Ship shifted the weapon’s form before the battle truly began, transforming into firing needles.

Chen Ming had a feeling.

That this cannon head actually combines Storm Needle and Gauss Cannon.

Purely scaling up the weapon size, it achieved a brute force impact after supplying massive energy.

Both Gauss Cannons and Storm Needles are large solid bullet weapons, each having applicable environments, enhancing an advanced weapon from these foundations posed no problem.

Indeed, in terms of usage, it worked effectively; the results spoke for themselves.

Chen Ming almost personally experienced it.

However, solid bullet weapons have limitations; space combat, especially at Main Level’s ultra-long distances, covering more than half a Star System.

The precision of solid bullet weapons is a difficult problem to solve.

At least the efficiency of this newly introduced spine peak cannon head by the Mechanical Race falls short compared to the centrally placed energy ridge cannon on the Mother Ship activated after testing the solid bullet cannon head.

A crimson laser beam converged and shot out from the central cannon head on the Mother Ship.

Wherever the red laser beam swept, high-energy heat destroyed everything it touched.

Numerous Insect Race Cruisers were cut, burned, destroyed, vanishing like snowflakes.

There was hardly any ability to resist.

But now in this Star System, the falling snow wasn’t merely small flakes; it was a blizzard capable of covering the whole world.

Having adapted to the combat style of the Mechanical Race, Chen Ming began commanding and dispatching Insect Race Cruisers for instantaneous short-range jumps to evade the Mother Ship’s attacks.

After losing thousands of cruisers in mere minutes,

the Insect Race Fleet finally closed in to a range suitable for launching attacks.

Meanwhile, the Mechanical Race Cruisers pushed in from the edge of the battle line.

Attempting to cooperate with the Mother Ship to suppress the Insect Race Fleet.

Right when both sides entered each other’s firing range,

around the formation of the Mechanical Race Fleet and even within it, there appeared widespread, turbulent jump fluctuations.

Judging by the scale of these jump fluctuations, at least a hundred thousand cruisers were approaching from behind.

These were the new batch of Biological Battleships prepared by the Insect Queen under Chen Ming’s instruction.
