Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 220: Chapter 99 Factory, Contact_3

”What do you want to do?”

”Just note it down for now, we’ll talk about it later.”

The boss hesitated a bit but still told Chen Ming the name of the Psychic and the star system where his colony is located, and said, ”If you have any ideas later, I’ll tell you about his psychic effects. For now, don’t know too much.”

Chen Ming acknowledged and remembered everything the boss said in his heart.

”Do you have any plans for the future?”

”My plans?”

Chen Ming thought for a moment and, without hiding, directly said, ”Dusk values my abilities very much, so I definitely won’t be able to come back in the short term.”

”But I don’t want to come back anyway. There are many things here in Dusk that are very valuable to me, since I’m already here.”

The boss couldn’t help but laugh and said, ”Is that all?”

”Also, I want to take this opportunity to train and develop my abilities.”

”If I could control a Cruiser before, or if I had already had a fleet of my own, I wouldn’t have been forced into this position by the military.”

Chen Ming, as if resolute in his decision, repeated, ”Yes, I want to build a fleet of my own.”

The boss didn’t think it was unrealistic for Chen Ming to want that. He simply said, ”That’s not easy; a fleet is not just about having ships.”

”Yeah, I know it’s difficult, but I’ve suddenly realized that only power that I control personally is reliable.”

Since they were already talking about this, Chen Ming continued, ”So I’m considering if there’s any way to make money.”

”Given my current situation, even if I’m here in Dusk, there’s no way for me to completely detach from human society. Money is still very important, whether for buying ships or materials.”

”Plus, in the future, if I really can build a fleet, how should I solve the bulk material issues?”

The boss carefully considered Chen Ming’s question and said, ”Actually, since you’ve gone out and have Dusk somewhat protecting you, you could try exploring unknown Star Realms.”

”For the past few decades, the Empire hasn’t had any plans for expansion, so it’s still a blue ocean out there.”

”Once you pass the buffer zone between us and Dusk, it’s all largely unexplored Star Realms.”

”If you could bring back a star map, or even go deeper and scan rough data of the planets in the star systems on the map.”

”The detailed data of these valuable star systems might be more expensive than a warship.”

”Oh, wait.”

The boss suddenly interrupted himself and said, ”I almost forgot you don’t have an exploration ship and no professional scanning equipment, and it would be tough to deal with the Superspace Channel clouds out there.”

Chen Ming initially had ideas about what the boss said, but after the boss pointed out the issues, he realized the problem.

Superspace Channels aren’t naturally formed; they are created step by step by humans.

Inside Superspace, there are endless Superspace Channel clouds, and the density of the clouds inside varies, meaning they can be dispersed.

When humanity first stepped into Superspace.

Humanity could only rely on vessels like Cruisers or even Main Ships to hold the front lines, arduously opening a path for other small ships to pass through.

Through continuous exploration and research, humanity developed dedicated exploration ships to explore unknown Star Realms using the characteristics of Superspace.

Later, for convenience, exploration ships not only had the ability to dispel Superspace clouds but also gradually increased their capability to explore unknown star systems.

High-powered scanning equipment would scan the star system environment, and refined detection equipment would survey the basic status of a planet, to determine whether a planet was worth a detailed exploration.

As of now, the Superspace in the Edge Star Realm is still filled with Superspace clouds, and navigation between star systems relies solely on channels.

But over in the Prosperous Star Realm, the Superspace clouds have basically disappeared completely, making it a true human world.

Although Chen Ming currently doesn’t have the ability to explore unknown star systems, that might not be the case in the future.

So Chen Ming said to the boss, ”Actually, I could ask Dusk if they might be able to give me an exploration ship, it’s just not very convenient for me to go out myself.”

”But your abilities could.”

The boss picked up the conversation for Chen Ming and added, ”Since you’re saying this, you probably have some thoughts in that direction. Exploring some valuable planets always pays off.”

”Also, do you remember that thing you helped me with before?”

”That pirate?”

”Yes, do you remember why I asked you to bring the pirate back?”

”He attacked the fleet transporting goods to your colony.”

”Right, do you understand what I mean?”

”Do you want to buy the star system data I scanned and then build a colony?”

”More or less, but it’s not me building a colony; it’s you building a colony.”

Chen Ming frowned and repeatedly asked, ”Why do you say that? And why bring it up suddenly? If the colony is outside the Empire’s territory, isn’t that risky?”

The boss, as if he already had a plan, immediately responded, ”Why it’s you building the colony and not me, the reason is simple.”

”Because I’m lazy.”

”As for bringing this up suddenly.”

”It’s because within the entire Human Empire, the only ones who can survive stably in the dangerous unknown Star Realm where Dusk is entrenched outside the Empire, and still manage to communicate remotely with the Empire without any communication equipment.”
