Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 202: Chapter 95: The Suddenly Halted Battle

The terrifying destructive power of the Armor-Piercing Level can be unleashed in the most perfect way under the protection of numerous corporate ships.

This kind of devastating attack, always looming over their heads, exerts more pressure on their opponents than the military exerted on Chen Ming earlier.

However, the commander on the military flagship did not panic but instead calmed down again.

The commander had heard of the name Armor-Piercing Level and also recalled its situation.

This was a unique and somewhat aggressive ship design by the Sinda Corporation.

Although it boasts extremely strong firepower, when the Armor-Piercing Level was just a design concept without physical evidence of combat effectiveness, its overly fragile armor and defensive capability made the military not choose it in the annual bid.

Previously, he too deemed the Armor-Piercing as unreliable experimental material,

but now upon seeing the final product, he suddenly felt that the ability to instantly destroy ships of the same level did indeed have substantial tactical significance.

But the commander remembered that this ship seemed to have been snatched away by the government in a previous bid.

Why would the government... No, it’s not the government.

The commander suddenly realized the problem and summoned his deputy to ask, ”Do you have the recent movements of that military-wanted Chen Ming?”

”Yes, after Chen Ming’s identity was confirmed, all information has been traceable.”

”Highlight the key points for me.”

”Yes.”

”After arriving at the Pirate Space Station, Chen Ming assumed the name Mu Shuikong and rejoined Sinda Corporation under a new identity.”

”This part is not surprising; he was just an ordinary employee at the time and surely had considerable suspicion about the Space Station’s situation. Changing identities to probe the company’s attitude is quite normal. What happened afterward?”

”Then came the two Dusk attacks on the Space Station, in which he participated both times.”

”In the first incident, although there’s evidence showing he stayed at the Space Station all along, his ship clashed with other ships at the battle’s edge, one against many, destroying four civilian merchant ships, a Hellhound, a Sentinel, and two Conquests.”

”Then afterwards, he captured an intact civilian-grade Sentinel and acquired the remaining half of a Dusk Destroyer that caused their conflict.”

The commander wasn’t surprised at such an outcome at all.

A ship possessing multiple times the energy capacity, with seemingly endless firepower, taking down a few ships of the same civilian level was a trivial matter.

As for Chen Ming being continuously on the Space Station,

firstly, it’s certain that Chen Ming returned to the Space Station alone; otherwise, the military would hunt more than just Chen Ming.

Secondly, Chen Ming didn’t recruit anyone on the Space Station nor mobilized personnel using his internal connections within Sinda Corporation.

The answer is then quite easy to guess.

Besides having the ability to enhance ships, Chen Ming also has long-range control over ships.

Is this the ability of a Psychic?

Though the commander felt some emotion, his eyes lacked envy.

Because he had already suppressed Chen Ming, the Psychic, by his own abilities, which was enough.

The deputy continued, ”The civilian-grade Sentinel has remained at the Space Station’s maintenance facility, and the half Dusk Destroyer was sold off on the Space Station by Chen Ming, but it’s unclear who the buyer was.”

”And this hasn’t been investigated?”

The commander once again realized the incompetence of the local military, slightly shaking his head, gesturing for the deputy to proceed.

”There isn’t much detailed information on how Chen Ming participated in the second incident, just that he was directly involved in the battle and later brought back two ships, a military Centurion Level and a Dusk Lumin Level.”

”The military strongly suspects that after the second Dusk attack on the Space Station ended, Chen Ming returned to the RM-2 Star System, roaming around the battle edge between Dusk and the military, where he subsequently acquired these two ships.”

Now confronting Chen Ming directly, the commander had no doubt about Chen Ming’s ability to trail Dusk and pick up spoils on the military battleground.

However, he clearly didn’t believe that Chen Ming only brought back two ships.

But without directly voicing this, he asked his deputy, ”I’ve already seen the Centurion he brought back, so what about the Dusk’s ship?”

”It’s yet to be determined; that Lumin remained at the Space Station’s maintenance facility but was later loaded onto Chen Ming’s own Mule Level armed merchant ship, and then vanished.”

”Wait, where did Chen Ming get a Mule Level? Bought it?”

”No, it’s said he organized a fleet to take down a wanted pirate group after the second Dusk attack and grabbed it from them.”

”Said to?”

”Uh... yes, there’s not much detail in the military’s information, but it’s certain the Mule Level is his war spoil.”

”Later he also went to the Star Realm Capital and submitted a pirate bounty, which can substantiate this.”

The commander immediately realized there was something off about how Chen Ming handled this Dusk ship.

If he intended to sell it, Chen Ming would have sold it like before, but instead, he personally took the ship away and recently there hasn’t been any news about the Lumin Level.

Even if a company took the Lumin directly point-to-point, the military surely wouldn’t be totally unaware.
