Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 215: Chapter 98 Legion 14_2

”He isn’t the kind of Psychic who can personally perform a rescue. When our ship arrived, there were no signs of conflict with Dusk other than those of a Ruler, so it probably isn’t him.”

”Could he have another plan?”

”A plan that nearly arranged for Chen Ming’s death?”

The Chairman gently knocked on the table, interrupting the discussion on what Wu An did, and said, ”Stop guessing. Guessing won’t give us any answers. We can’t figure out what the Spiritual Ability Association did. It’s possible he’s already rescuing Chen Ming somewhere else.”

”Furthermore, all the evidence we’ve discovered now points completely to Dusk, so for now, let’s assume Dusk took away Chen Ming, and consider other matters afterward.”

”Of course, during this process, we also need to keep a close eye on Wu An’s situation.”

The director in charge of the Pirate Space Station nodded but did not speak.

Another director asked, ”So what do we do now? Find Dusk? Attack them?”

Other directors immediately answered for the Chairman, ”We can’t beat them, can we? Even a small wave from Dusk isn’t something we can handle.”

”We can deploy that thing we’ve been testing. It should be worth a try; its combat power is guaranteed.”

The Chairman directly rejected the director’s proposal, saying, ”This is key for our competition with several established companies. It’s still in the development stage and absolutely cannot be used. And even if we had it, don’t you think Dusk wouldn’t?”

”Just like how Dusk previously raided us, if we raid them efficiently, we shouldn’t run into them.”

The Chairman turned to the director who made the proposal and said, ”Well then, if we agree to deploy it, where will you find Chen Ming?”

”Do you have Dusk’s star maps? Know which Star System has Dusk’s Colony after passing through the buffer zone? Know where Dusk took Chen Ming? All this talk of finding someone is just empty talk.”

”And as for Chen Ming’s current state, I’m quite curious about what he thinks over at Dusk. Does he want to remain there, or does he intend to come back?”

”Although there is external pressure, since Chen Ming prepared for Dusk’s rescue, he must have considered what he would do after going to Dusk.”

”This is information we cannot ascertain at all.”

The Chairman paused for a moment, sighed softly in his heart, and said, ”Chen Ming can contact us via the ship he controls, but we can only send messages to his ship.”

”When he sees it, and when we get a reply, is really uncertain.”

”All we can do now is wait for Chen Ming to contact us.”

”So instead of waiting idly and wasting time, let’s start handling other matters first.”

”Regaining our Star System and reclaiming our Space Station involves much more than just bringing Chen Ming back; there are many other things to be done.”

”Moreover, even without Chen Ming, upon learning of Sky Steel production in the Star System, we must reclaim it by any means necessary.”

”Now is absolutely the best time compared to before.”

”Apart from this, we also need to rescue the Escort Fleet, explain to the government, and respond to the military.”

”These are all new issues that have emerged. The company’s original work also needs to continue.”

”There is always endless work to do.”

The director sitting to the left of the Chairman stood up and said, ”Then I’ll continue contacting the government to clarify the armor-piercing matter; otherwise, future business will be difficult.”

”We must explain Chen Ming’s situation clearly. We certainly can’t keep Chen Ming afterward, nor can we easily bring him back ourselves.”

”Since it’s uncertain whether Chen Ming can ultimately return alive, we should make the most of his remaining value.”

”We’ve already lost a lot. At the very least, we can’t fail to recoup what we’ve lost.”

The Chairman slightly opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing.

Watching this director leave the meeting after speaking.

Another director suddenly noticed a keyword in the Chairman’s words and asked, ”Chairman, what do you mean by the best opportunity?”

”This is related to the situation with the military.”

The Chairman looked at the director responsible for handling military-related affairs.

Although there were military presences within the company, he could confirm that all directors, including this one, were staunch company loyalists.

The company’s middle management might become tempted by the military’s interests in some respects.

But the company’s upper management, especially the top leaders in the board of directors, all knew that the military was a ravenous wolf that wouldn’t let go until it devoured everything, and the Mining Space Station was the best evidence of that.

Exchanging the company for personal gain would ultimately result in being completely consumed by the military.

The director responsible for military affairs, seeing the Chairman looking at him, said, ”The situation with the military is very peculiar. Their so-called rebel might have been orchestrated by themselves.”

”That person was originally the head of a Military Outpost, held high authority within the army, and was an old soldier. There was no reason for sudden rebellion, yet he fully brought a Ruler to chase down Chen Ming.”

”It’s speculated that they felt the initial ships they sent weren’t enough to eliminate Chen Ming, so, to complete the mission, they orchestrated a rebellion to escalate matters.”

”Although the military holds significant authority, deploying a Cruiser still requires approval.”
