After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 612: Chapter 616: Leng Zirui’s Hesitation【2】

Last time, the incident involving Leng Zimo in Zhengding, Hebei, was known only to Leng Zirui and Huangfu Ao.

The situation was similar to this time, and Leng Zirui was really worried.

If the truth were to come out, would Leng Zimo react as he did last time?

If that were the case, waiting for Xu Pei would be more than just imprisonment as punishment, Leng Zimo... might truly kill someone!

As a younger brother, Leng Zirui understood him, but he also knew that such actions were equally dangerous for Leng Zimo.

Leng Lin was never one to cover up for his children, and if the last incident in Zhengding were to be revealed, he feared that Leng Lin would be the one sending Leng Zimo to jail. This time, he couldn’t take the risk.

But, what should he do?

”Xu Pei, oh Xu Pei!” Leng Zirui muttered through clenched teeth, ”No wonder big brother is disappointed in you, even I have become disappointed in you. How could you do such despicable things!”

Leng Zirui knew Xu Pei just as well.

That woman was strong-willed, smart, and obstinate, just like his big brother.

The things she set her mind on, she would not easily let go of.

From initially telling Father Leng about Luo Xiaoqian’s situation, to the recent rape case, hitting Lu Hao with a car, and now aiming at Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo...

Leng Zirui saw it clearly—Xu Pei was moving closer to the brink of danger.

If he didn’t stop her soon, there was no telling what horrible things this woman might do.

After weighing his options numerous times, he suddenly stood up, extinguished the more-than-half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray, and took out his phone to dial a number.

A good while passed before the call was connected.

On the other end of the phone, Leng Lin’s voice was slightly hoarse.

”Hello?”

”Dad, it’s me.”

”What has happened?” Leng Lin’s voice instantly became grave.

He knew his sons very well.

A call from his second son this late at night, and beginning with such a serious tone, clearly indicated that something serious had occurred.

”I’ll come home in a while to see you, there’s some important matter that I don’t know how to deal with.” Hearing the worry in his father’s voice, Leng Zirui switched to a teasing tone, ”It’s not too big of a deal. Has Aunt Su gone to bed? If she hasn’t, could you ask her to make me a bowl of noodles? Your dearest son is really hungry right now.”

”Alright, I’ll wait for you,” Leng Lin promised and hung up the phone.

He got up, draped a shirt over himself, and tiptoed downstairs to the kitchen.

He filled a pot with water and placed it on the stove.

”Old Leng?” Xiao Liu and Aunt Su came into the kitchen one after the other, their confusion clear as they approached and saw Leng Lin standing by the stove. Aunt Su immediately walked over, ”Are you hungry? What would you like to eat? I can make it for you.”

Leng Lin waved them off, ”No need, you two go on to bed. I’m making a bowl of noodles for Zirui; he’ll be over in a while.”

”There’s sauce I fried up earlier today in the fridge, and there are cucumbers. You don’t have to clean up the pots and dishes; I can wash them tomorrow morning.”

Aunt Su reminded Leng Lin, and she returned upstairs with Xiao Liu to their respective rooms.

Leng Zirui calling so late at night likely meant he wasn’t just coming over for a bowl of noodles; there had to be some issue. Both of them had been with the Leng Family for more than just a day or two and had the common sense to know this.

By the time Leng Lin finished cooking the noodles and served them in a bowl, with the sauce and cucumber side dishes laid out on the small dining table, Leng Zirui’s car had already stopped outside the Leng Family’s front gate.
